Even though Hurricane Sandy has yet to make landfall, Bette Midler is already blaming it on global warming.

she and her fellow libs must not be too worked up over it: they haven’t curbed their lifestyles any

      • Love of Country

Ed Begley Jr is the only one in all of Hollywood who does whereas Al Gore uses over 20x as much energy as the average American … unbelievable!

        • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

Gotta hand it to Ed. He’s pretty unbearable about his views, but he does practice what he preaches.

          • Love of Country

and for that alone I respect him

        • gekkobear

Granted, Ed Begley Jr is serious about his beliefs.

As for the rest of them, I made a statement years ago to a liberal AGW proponent “I’ll consider taking you seriously when YOU start acting like you take what you’re saying seriously”.

For example, Al Gore, by his lifestyle, clearly doesn’t take himself or what he says seriously; why would anyone else?

          • Ken Alan Draper

Yes, but for him it’s a business. selling “carbon credits” hot & fresh from his desktop printer for millions of dollars. the snake oil salesmaen of old have nothing on Manbearpig.

        • Elaine

Rising waters didn’t stop him from buying that oceanside mansion, one of his MANY mansions, btw. What a phony cause to make himself a multi-milionaire!

      • thetreyman

um, she doesnt have to, she’s famous. dont you know anything. ; )

        • http://www.facebook.com/brett.mcmicken Brett McMicken

i forgot: she’s BETTEr than the rest of us

      • http://www.cosmicgirl.net/ Cosmic Girl

Do as they say, not as they do. Jeepers…have you not learned yet?!?

    • Jim Russell

      “Global warming costs big bucks!”

So does that useless liberal education you received Bette. Please shut-up and sing, act…or continue to suck your frightful thumb.

      • Ken Alan Draper

MANBEARPIG costs big bucks!!! I’m super serial!

  • http://twitter.com/AUBraves AUBraves

I think it’s overly egotistical of scientist to imply that they have an idea of what weather was like over history. They have been wrong about every other concept of history so i don’t trust their thoughts on global warming either.
If we would have lived during the ice age they would have blamed global freezing on mankind. Then when the ice melted it would have been the original global warming and again mankind would be blamed.
And yes, global warming costs a lot but it’s the research funding that is the largest expense.

    • http://twitter.com/mandita74 GreenEyedGal

I seem to remember that in the 70’s, the scare was global cooling and we were headed for all headed for another ice age (not that I’m old enough to remember that! I’m not, but I have heard it said somewhere…)

      • Nell

It’s true, that’s what the scientists were claiming in the ’70’s “we’re headed for another ice age!”.

      • Ken Alan Draper

Don’t forget acid rain which was supost to burn us all to a crisp by 1990. oh yeah, & the population bomb where having 3 hundred million people was supposed to cause widespread famine throughout the united states.

        • http://twitter.com/mandita74 GreenEyedGal

I forgot all about the acid rain garbage. Who can keep track of all the scare tactics of the left?

    • $21367552

Yeah scientists are so egotistical to make models and hypotheses because sometimes they are wrong. We should all just pray and read the Bible more!

      • Zane Henry

This was never as simple as someone “got it wrong”. This was a global fraud. The Green Movement, and all it’s little minions like Phil Jones at U of East Anglia, are nothing but economic terrorists.

      • http://twitter.com/AUBraves AUBraves

Models and hypotheses aren’t the problem. Claiming them to be absolute truth is the problem. We change our text books and teach our children these untrue “facts”. I hope the studies of our world continue but let’s not claim that we have knowledge of things we probably will never truly understand.

  • WiffleDome

  • http://www.facebook.com/daisykh Daisy Kristina Hill

She’s exhausted? Makes me wonder if she’s in that crowd that laughs at us “right-wing nut jobs” for gathering in food storage when the weather is good.

    • http://www.facebook.com/daisykh Daisy Kristina Hill

For the record, we’re in the path of the storm…but we’ve always had a little food storage because we’ve seen it be so useful to help us through those rough financial times. This will be my first time (potentially) needing it for a storm…and it was awesome today when my five-year-old asked “what if we run out of milk?” And I was able to tell her about the powdered milk we’ve got in storage, and calm her worries. They say, “if ye are prepared, ye shall not fear.” I’d like to add on to that “or be stressed or exhausted the day before…”

  • orringtonmom (D)

maybe she was being sarcastic… i invoke the name of algore a lot. “come shovel my driveway, algore.” stuff like that.

    • waltzingmtilda

I blame Al Gore for everything that goes wonky around here…it just cracks me up.

    • Ken Alan Draper

whenever we get a lot of snow I always yell “Global warming My A$$!! Al Gore can Kiss my a$$!

    Filling a tub is exhausting?

    • Right Wired

Well, it’s huge. Had to be to fit that massive ego of hers.

  • Dan

There were hurricanes in the 1800’s you dolt

  • tjp77

Everyone knows that hurricanes didn’t exist prior to global warming… oh wait, the world has been warming and cooling for the last four billion years.

  • Right Wired

I’m guessing the hot air out of her mouth has raised the temperature more than the private jet Al Gore commutes to work in.

  • Mic

A useful idiot indeed ! The Elitists pushing climate change in their pursuit of wealth and power must love vacuous Celebrity twits like Midler

  • http://www.facebook.com/marge.bowman.5 Marge Bowman

I wonder what will happen when “Sandy” hits the cold stuff coming at it from the North?

    • Ken Alan Draper

      Global warming!

  • Cyndi Martin

Puhleeze. Algore doesn’t believe in global warming but we’re supposed to?

  • scalzo

Because there were no such thins as hurricanes and flooding before man ever exhausted right?

  • Snarky D

Perhaps she was referring to the energy required to fill her Olympic-sized bathtub. It takes a lot of soap and water to scrub off that much ignorant bullshit.

  • Debbie

SERIOUSLY Ms Midler??? There have been hurricanes since the beginning of time..and YOU want to make this political?? I bet you helped invent the INTERNET too…LOL! I use to like you…now…not so much..wouldn’t pay money to see ya, that’s for sure. You are to be pitied now.

  • stuckinIL4now

The hurricanes would come even if we weren’t here. There just wouldn’t be millions and millions of us dopes in harms way. Interesting to see how those insulated from the rigors of daily life view these things.

  • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

Jeebus xmas, mods, ya gotta put that picture of her up like that, this close to Halloween?

  • http://twitter.com/DeepTheenker Fishin, Campin Chic

And our young adults believe celebs automatically know what they’re talking about just because they have a mic and a stage……of course they only use the mic in a monologue when talking politics so that nobody with a brain gets a chance to rebut.

  • Michelle

Her ridiculous assertion that hurricanes are caused by global warming aside…notice she’s worried about the cost and not that people might have their lives in danger (65 dead so far in the Caribbean). Ah yes, the oh-so-in-touch-with-humanity folks on the left.

  • HopeyChangey

Here’s a toast to the wind breaking beneath your wings.

  • disappearing moderate

Bette is so behind the times. Doesn’t she realize that it’s been “climate change” for ages now so all the green scammers could point to any weather as a sign of the oncoming eco-apocalypse.

  • Robert H. Woodman

Statistically, a weather event like Hurricane Sandy was inevitable. Blaming an isolated weather event on climate change is silly. You just have to love Hollywood stars who think that their fame gives them authority to pontificate, even when their pronouncements show that they don’t understand the subject on which they are speaking.

  • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

She should just shut up and sing. The 3rd supply to Jamestown “Virginia” the Atlantic Coast, was shipwrecked by a Hurricane. Shakespeare even wrote a play about it “The Tempest”. Bette not the Shakespearean type I am guessing. The Sea Venture- On June 2, 1609, the Sea Venture set sail from Plymouth as the flagship of a seven-ship fleet (towing two additional pinnaces) destined for Jamestown, Virginia as part of the Third Supply, carrying 500 to 600 people. So Bette we were experiencing Global Warming in 1609 before the Industrial age? The Ojibwa up in the Great Lakes area, passed down legends about the hurricane “West Wind” on lake Superior. Again before there ever was an Industrial age. Al Gore and the Goraphile’s ignorance is stunning.

  • http://twitter.com/Kramerica3 Cosmo

Yes, because there were no storms before evil humans messed with Mother Earth. Garden of Eden.

Historic Hurricanes starting with 1502 http://www.hurricaneville.com/historic.html let’s sum up Al Gore blames human activity aka Industry for Global Warming, but we have been having sever weather events since human beings have been recording sever weather events.

  • http://www.facebook.com/john.hanover.35 John Hanover

Global Warming is powered by more hot air than real science. The day it’s ” messiahs ” and it’s ” prophets ” have a serious debate with real scientists, Global Warming is still a joke and not so funny anymore. Ignorance costs even more big bucks.

  • http://twitter.com/XenoNexxus Christopher

so she is planning on drinking her own bathwater? Ever heard of a plastic bottle, idiot?

  • Jackson1961

Sorry, Bette, but the warming trend ended 20 years ago…it is global cooling now. Get up with the times!

  • Peyton

Tell that to the people who were hit by the Galveston Hurricane in 1900.

  • Terry
  • RightThinking1

There would be considerably less ‘warming’ if celebs were not blowing hot air and smoke around.

  • TocksNedlog

Gee, sure hope that Bette isn’t trying to politicize a tragedy, or something like that.

  • Botzilla

Fill the tub, climb in it and submerge yourself underwater to wait out the storm, you’ll be fine don’t worry.

  • stillinthe60s

BM: Global Warming cost big bucks…which is why I wouldn’t spend them to see a wrinkled old has been belt out show tunes from the 80’s.

  • stillinthe60s

Global leftist stupidity is a much bigger menace to the world than global warming has or ever will be.

  • bicentennialguy

Global warming costs big bucks, Bette? So does producing all those CD’s of yours that no one buys. How many children could that feed? How much does the make-up cost that you have to trowel on daily as you struggle to look 72? How many children could that feed….not to mention the terrible carbon footprint of it all….

  • Guest

Maybe she and Mehgan McCain can get together and solve the global warming problem for us. Let’s see…
    1. Only unicycles and pogo sticks allowed on lunch hours.
    2. 100mph speed limits to help with over population.
    3. Passing gas only allowed between 4 and 7 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
    4. See Bloomberg for more ideas.
