Disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner, who was forced to resign a year ago amid a scandal stemming from him sending lewd photos to fans via Twitter and Facebook, is actually thinking about running for mayor of New York City in 2013.

From the New York Post:

The disgraced former congressman — who’s sitting on a $4.5 million campaign war chest — is mulling a bid for citywide office next year and “seriously considering” a mayoral run, multiple sources told The Post.

If Weiner does win, it will be difficult for him to measure up to all of Mayor Bloomberg’s accomplishments. Under his watch, New York’s apartments are approaching the size of roach motels and sodas sold cannot be over 16 ounces.

NYC is doomed. Is there a single sane candidate running in 2013?

I don’t know, but having lived there 11 years, I regret to admit that he will probably win. Name recognition, Schumer stumping for him, and a (D) behind his name* makes him the frontrunner.

      * Yeah, yeah, I know NYC has had an “(R)” mayor since 92. Giuliani was elected because he cleaned up the mob and they needed someone with his style after the Dinkins years and the prevailing attitude that can be summed up in responses to the Central Park rape victim (’84 or so): “What did she expect jogging alone in the park?”. Bloomberg became an (R) so he could get Rudy’s endorsement, his policies have proven beyond all doubt he is not.

Make fun of Weiner’s weener if you will, but it did set Hillary’s girlfriend straight.
