Liberal Twitter erupted in glee last night after the lights briefly went out on the Statue of Liberty, with many assuming it was a symbolic message to kick of International Women’s Day and #ADayWithoutWomen:

There even was a Twitter “Moment” dedicated to this wishful thinking with the tagline, “the symbolism isn’t lost on anyone”:

Well, if that “symbolism” is that government can’t keep the lights on, then we agree! Here’s the real reason Lady Liberty went dark:
