Here’s NBC’s Katy Tur on Donald Trump’s tribute last night to fallen Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens and his widow, Carryn, who was in attendance at the president’s address to Congress:
What the President did w Owen's widow was capital P Presidential. It was the single most extraordinary moment I've seen from Trump – by far.

And now for the “BUT”:
*BUT* remember that moment came after Trump seemed to blame his generals/Obama for Owen's death this morning.

Tur is referring to an interview Trump gave to “Fox & Friends” on Monday where he said “they lost Ryan,” meaning the generals:

More from Tur:
And NBC News exclusive reporting: senior intelligence sources dispute WH characterization of raid as success. No significant intel *yet.*

… Which would mean that Trump isn't being honest with a grieving wife. And that is anything BUT presidential.

In his speech last night, Trump refuted this, saying:
“I just spoke to Gen. Mattis, who reconfirmed that, and I quote, ‘Ryan was a part of a highly successful raid that generated large amounts of vital intelligence that will lead to many more victories in the future against our enemies.’”
We’ll surely be hearing more on this over the next few days (and weeks and months.)
