One of the criticisms directed at Sen. Bernie Sanders from team Hillary is that he doesn’t have a real record of fighting for civil rights in the 60’s. For example, Rep. John Lewis, who was of course one of the leaders of the civil rights movement, kneecapped Sanders last week by saying he “never saw” and “never met” Sanders during all of the college protests he helped set up.

Well, maybe that’s because Bernie Sanders was getting arrested on the day Lewis was in Chicago? This was just discovered in the archives of the Chicago Tribune:

According to the Tribune, “Sanders was arrested on Aug. 12, 1963 and charged with resisting arrest, found guilty and fined $25.”
Over to you, Rep. Lewis. Do you believe Sanders now?
Lewis & Clyburn will discount Bernie's commitment to Civil Rights. They sold their souls to Clinton. https://t.co/rrEDUZBOIY
