In 2009, then eight year-old Vanessa Riddle was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. Vanessa, a UK resident, has bravely battled the disease for over three years. Now, her desire for Christmas is to reach 100,000 followers by the end of the year. Many Tweeters and celebrities are joining together to help make Vanessa’s wish come true.

Eric Bolling, co-host of Fox News’ The Five, was instrumental in getting Vanessa over 50,000 followers and has now encouraged her to get over the 100,000 mark.

Vanessa’s positivity and faith is inspiring Tweeters of all backgrounds, nationalities, and political persuasions.

Please help her out. It’s just one click of a button, but it can make a big difference.

She’s currently at 88,862 followers. Follow her here: @VanessaRiddle. Also, the hashtag to help her out is: #VanessaRiddleAppeal.

Vanessa has reached her goal of 100,000 followers with nearly a month to spare.

Vanessa has now surpassed 108,000 followers and is absolutely thrilled:

Sweet angel Vanessa! We’re praying for you – for your health and happiness. You’re going to reach that…

WOW! Y’all did it, Vanessa has 106,740 followers now!

Why not set as a goal (and an interesting exercise in Social Media, and as a gift) having everyone w/an active account do a “follows” of her— at least through New Years.

Since her joy increases w/the number of “follows” that should provide quite a bit of cheer!

It would also be a nifty (is the word “nifty” still used?) experiment.

If I can get any of the (expletive deleted) twitter apps to work again I’m going to offer that suggestion to the twit feed.

The October week 4 OS upgrade Verizon did on my phone damaged the underlying framework for twitter apps.

I really don’t want to “Factory Fresh” reset my phone (Verizons only solution to any problem). It takes me about 6-8 wks to get the phone back to where I feel comfortable with it. Obviously not a good solution.

    I just might borrow a grandchild’s laptop for a few hrs…

I’ve rewritten this comment a few times, but when I read it back, out loud to check the tone, it always siunds like I’m making a half-hearted attempt at sarcasm.

    I’m not.

My philosophy is that sick children should be indulged to the limits that are possible– this is a small thing to ask… and, in most cases, easily done.
