This Cycle's Most Powerful Political Ads And How Much They Cost

Donald J. Trump has been elected the 45th President of the United States—and it didn’t take him a lot of money to get there.

During the final week of the campaign, Hillary Clinton more than doubled her ad spending from around $14 million to $32.4 million, according to data from Kantar Media/CMAG, a company that tracks political advertising. Nearly $5 million was put toward airtime in Florida alone. Clinton even upped her spending in some blue states in an attempt to strengthen the blue wall; and now we are seeing how that worked out for her.

According to Bloomberg, here’s how much each candidate spent on TV ads per electoral vote the week of October 25 in some major swing states.

Two weeks before election night, Clinton’s TV ad spending had reached $211.4 million compared to Trump who only spent $74 million, reported Bloomberg. Unfortunately for Clinton, all that money wasn’t able to buy her the presidency.
