Chris Christie endorses Donald Trump for president

Earlier this month in New Hampshire, Donald Trump earned a hug from Chris Christie (who also famously hugged Obama in 2012).

Today Trump received a full endorsement from the New Jersey governor and former GOP presidential candidate:

Huge. Trump's biggest endorsement. Maybe the biggest endorsement of the campaign so far – Chris Christie pic.twitter.com/oO4SMXODzk

Christie dropped out of the presidential race after the New Hampshire primary.

Trump is using Christie announcement to bury his debate loss in the media.

Christie endorsement is kind of thing conventional pols hurry to roll out when feeling desperate. Doesn't work for them, won't for Trump.

Chris Christie: hugs Obama, endorses Trump. I'm sure the 0.5% of Republican voters that were enthusiastic about Christie will take note.

The endorsement by itself really isn't a big deal – Christie did horribly. It's the media's willingness to change the subject for Trump.
