Al Jazeera America will be shutting its doors soon:

It’s probably way too late to stop payment on the check to Al Gore:

Al Jazeera America went on the air in August 2013 after it bought Al Gore’s Current TV for $500 million. It promised to be thoughtful and smart, free of the shouting arguments that have defined cable news in the United States over the last decade. But meaningful viewership never came, with prime-time ratings sometimes struggling to exceed 30,000 viewers.

In 2014, sellers of Current, including Gore, filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Al Jazeera for not paying the full amount, but Gore still undoubtedly got a nice chunk of change.

  • Maxx

Their “business model,” of course, being an apologetic mouthpiece for muslim extremism.

Gee. I wonder why that didn’t sell. What’s next Al Jazeera…a surf shop in Anchorage?

    • MarciaTheMurkyMuse🌠 Variegated

Great idea! According to ManBearPig, Anchorage will be a tropical paradise. 3… 2… 1…

    • Ron Stanford

What’s next is that it’s GOING OUT OF BUSINESS IN APRIL!

  • disqus_eric

I’m torn… On one hand, he bamboozled Al-J out of all that money. On the other hand, we’re talking Al Gore.

    • Ron Stanford

Actually, Al-J didn’t pay Al what they owed him.

Even better, Al-J’s GOING OUT OF BUSINESS IN APRIL!

      • Don Reed

What, Al, that sharp ol’ hillbilly, agreed to an installment-plan payment schedule? In which rug bazaar did this transpire?

    • Don Reed

Al Bore, this time, flim-flaming countries other than America. I could get used to this.

      • Don Reed

Let’s entertain the possibility that AG is really from Iran, selling s*** to America, but got lost in the Paris Metro and ended up selling his bag of rags to Q-Tar, who thought he was an ISIS agent and eagerly bought up everything on the spot.

  • Acuda4me ✓Please!

“$500 Million buys a lot of massages.” – Al Gore, probably

    Edited for bad spelling

    • Arttie the Deplorable

With Tipper out of the way, probably massages. ;>)

      • Don Reed

I forgot all about her. I hope she was generously rewarded for having bet on the spread and then having to be the mother of sons of a b****. I’ll bet it all looked pretty innocent in the very beginning.

    • Don Reed

Time for a “Fat Farm Renaissance.” WSJ April 15, 2011. Idea germinated.

  • Don Reed

AL-J Board Meeting: “Le’s run a bogus expose on Peyton Manning getting juiced with illegal drugs! That ought to bring in the ratings and the profits!”
I thought the Chinese would re-do the Japanese Real Estate fiasco of the 1980s-90s (“Miko, leave the keys to Rockefeller Center on the desk and close the door. We’re due at JFK in two hours!”).
The AL-J’s have beaten them to it.
Downside: MSM will have to absorb 500 more “journalists” who have “I LOVE Hillary” tattoos on their derrieres. No noticeable upgrade in quality reporting will be detected.

    • Ron Stanford

btw, Al-J’s going out of business in April!

      • Don Reed

Oh goodie! This frees up yet another cable channel (600+ and counting) with which to air sitcom re-runs (sickcoms) and “You Won’t Believe How Soft This Lead Pillow Is!” / “Feminine Kardashian Facial Shaving / Digging Shovels” infocommercials.

        • Ron Stanford

I’m hoping that Glenn Beck jumps at the opportunity.

          • Knitwit

Yes, let him move to another channel that no one watches. If he spends enough, he too may be able to go out of business in 0 to 60. He’s been working at going out of business for years. How many YEARS now have I caught his ads on the radio?? “The Blahh’s…we’re just starting, but…”

JUST STARTING???? When do you get past “just starting” and get into “we’re running as fast as we can, but we ain’t keepin’ up”.

I used to like him a lot. He was funny, informative and had his facts together. Now he’s changed into a bitter, angry old man. I know he’s had some severe neurological problems that have affected his health. I think it has changed his personality for the worse. Either that or his years of heavy drinking caught up with him. He’s not drinking now, has been sober for some time, but it may have damaged his brain permanently. I DO feel sorry for him, but his tv and radio endeavors are not doing well anymore. He’s a Boehner twin, crying all the time, or proselytizing his religious beliefs, then being a hypocrite with his bad language and nasty attitudes towards people.
Again, I think it’s his neurological problems that are doing it and I feel sorry for him. If he took on another network, I think the stress would kill him faster than he’s already doing it to himself now. His doctors already told him to quit or he would blow a fuse and die.

  • Please, god help us!

The downfall must come from their cutting-edge sports reporting … libelous much?

  • NannoH

Middle Eastern Muslim extremists scare the crap out of Americans. Sure, we’re going to watch and patronize a news network with a name like Al Jazeera. Sure.

PS Al Gore is such a hideous fat toad!!

    • tverle

If they at times had 30,000 viewers, does that mean that we can expect that there are at least 30,000 MEME in our country?

      • Petrucio14

Not necessarily. I encountered a mindless Liberal stunted choad (excuse the redundancy) from The People’s Republic of Madison, WI, who thought the only reliable news had to come from them. But then, he was never right about anything else either. I did mention that he was a Liberal, didn’t I.

  • Ty in TX ✓ᵇᵒⁿᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

In the news today, Al Gore was found dead with a hideous rictus grin on his face. Medical examination determined that he died laughing.
Subsequent investigation turned up a letter from Al-Jazeera Qatar demanding a full refund.

    • Don Reed

Fake post. No one at AJQ was literate enough to be able to put anything in writing.

    • Don Reed

No one in Tennessee dies with a “hideous” grin on his face. The obits always say, “victorious.”

  • skypilot77

X-finity has pushed AJ — even giving it a spot on the On-Demand menu. I refused to watch a nano second of their programming.

  • Librophile417

Seeing how popular Current was, I’m betting it would not have lasted long. So when Al Jazzera offered to buy them out, Mr. Gore had to have a thumbtack in his shoe to keep him from smiling.

  • freeinaz

I’m surprised Obama didn’t offer some govt. money to keep them going.

    • MarciaTheMurkyMuse🌠 Variegated

Shrillary can contribute her Powerball winnings!

      • Hashtag pundit

        Or her speaking fees.

        • Don Reed

“CROAK! That will be $2,500,000, please. CASH.”

    • Cyborg3K

It’s not too late. That may still happen.

  • Hashtag pundit

Not enough traitorous, self-hating, Marx-idolizing, Alinsky-reading, Islamophilic, liberal so-called “Americans” to keep up ratings for a channel that is essentially the propaganda mouthpiece of the Islamic supremacists? Really? Shocked.

    • Hashtag pundit

If they wait, though, I’m sure that Obama will import plenty of avid viewers…

  • anjullyn

Best news since BO took office. Just wish Gore lost 500 mil instead of reaping money.

  • Ruttles Rohan

Could we interest them in a nice bridge in brooklyn ….?

  • Oysteria (I won)

What did they think was going to happen? They named it al Jazeera fer chris’sake It’s not like al Jazeera is a name the American republic finds synonymous with freedom and liberty.

  • Arkuy The Great

“Seems as if everything Gore touches fails, yet he still ends up with millions”

    Grifters gonna grift.

    • Don Reed

Time for a remake of “The Sting.” Can’t happen. Robert “Pasty Face” Redford is a Gore supporter.

  • JohnFLob

Despite AGW and ALL Gore the “all jazz era” in America seem s to have been frozen out of the markets.

  • jumpstart

guess I’ll have to listen to Air america now.

  • Fired Up

Al Jazeera is closing down.? CAIR gotta sue somebody.

  • Ron Stanford

So, Americans are watching AJ more and more and more because they love the “hard news?”

  • Captain America

Yo GORE….buy it back and sell it to the Iranians !

  • Meowbius

AJ goes belly-up in US. RussiaToday croaks in England. I guess, even the most gullible LIVs reached their limit of “tolerance”

    • Don Reed

      “LIVs”? Translation?

Maybe its CO2 emissions weren’t as beneficial as advertised…?

  • LimpingHenry

    Well, I’m desolated.

  • ReeFungorio

Wow doesn’t it seem like a strange coincidence that every dollar that Gore makes (and he’s filthy, filthy rich) is due to a business either shutting down, being punished financially or people giving him money to try to avoid either? The one thing that’s not surprising in the least is that he’s a liberal hero.

  • skypilot77

What is with the praying hands photos of Gore & Kerry?

  • chetnapier

So who needs a network to rundown America ,thats what we have Obama for.

  • Luv2GoFly

Hmmm, whaddaya know…Americans have no interest in watching a Jihadi propaganda network. Yeah, I pretty much knew that one wasn’t going to last. I’m guessing all of their 30,000 viewers reside in the greater Dearborn, Michigan area.

  • miamihurricane101 .

    NEVER saw that coming!

  • CobraJet428

Remember when he said Earth had 10 yrs left b/c of AGW?

  • wharfrat

Gore would starve to death if he had to give up his Millions,he must eat 24 hours a day by the looks of him,NASA wanted to build a shield outside the Earth to block the Sun from extreme heat and they chose Al because he was a perfect size, big and fat,but they couldn’t afford the price he was asking,so we’ll have to be hot.

    • Rick Lumus

Al Gore is a disease. He makes me sick.

  • Squatter in the White House

I can honestly say this is the best news that I’ve heard all week.. Hell maybe the past month.

  • Dave In Arizona

    Another Al Gore failure?

  • DavidL

Oh yeah … Al Gore is laughing his fat @ss off, all the way to the bank.

As for his “legacy” … He will only be remembered for the fraud that used to be called “global warming,” but has its name changed annually to avoid hurting fraudsters’ feelings.
