President Obama had a town hall on guns last night which was broadcast on CNN. The NRA had been invited to be there, but declined:

“40 Year Old Virgin” director Judd Apatow insists there’s a different reason the NRA didn’t want to be there:

Is that so?

The NRA certainly didn’t have to be there in an official capacity to make Obama sound foolish.

And progressive Hollywood’s favorite president ever will get to keep the Gun Salesman of the Year title for at least another year.

Straw man alert! Judd Apatow chides #2A proponents who want more gun deaths, or something

  • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

Says a guy who uses armed security on his sets. STFU, loser pajama boy.

    • journogal

But it’s okay for them to have armed security, just us riffraff in hideous flyover country shouldn’t be allowed to protect ourselves/family/property.

      • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

Yeah because we’re not smart enough to know what’s best for our families or something ridiculous like that.

    • unknown

And was all defensive when people were blaming his movies for that shooting at the California college dorm (I try to refrain from naming the shooter but if you are confused to who I’m referring to, I can make an exception).

      • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

That was the deranged misogynist shooting at the sorority girls who wouldn’t date him?

        • unknown

Yep (though he did kill two times the number of male victims to female victims)

          • GomeznSA

Please do NOT forget that his first THREE victims were slaughtered with cutting implements. But according to the democRAT public relations committee (aka the lame stream media) he kilt all them with them ‘evil’ guns………………

          • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

He was a real charmer, wasn’t he? Glad he’s roasting right now.

  • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Oh, God, where do we START with the stupid on this guy? NRA goes to a hostile site (CNN) a hostile audience (mostly CNN), a hostile (to the Constitution) President, and you think for one damn second they’re going to be allowed to say anything without being booed and shouted down, which would THEN be the only thing reported on?

Sweet Lord, take me now, I don’t want to live on a world this fucked up anymore…

    • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

Yep, stop the planet because I wanna get off, too. Jesus can’t come back fast enough, that’s for sure.

      • thale_taxurfeet ♂ Vilified

No, no, no Penny… I want to be a bit more selective about who gets off the planet.

The trouble-making, Utopian designing, tyrannical wannabes are the ones I want to get off the planet… If they continue to throw matches on the combustible notion of restricting/oppressing freedom and natural rights, I may get my wish.

        • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

Can we send them to Mars? Actually, Raqqa is much closer and I hear they’re looking to repopulate.

          • thale_taxurfeet ♂ Vilified

            No further comment…
            /* whispers black helicopters… */

          • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

            Wait, do you hear something….?

          • rambler

          • thale_taxurfeet ♂ Vilified

Ever since I turned in my clearances, was debriefed, and turned my back on D.C. I hear something…

    • almarquardt

It’d be like willingly going to your own lynching.

      • GomeznSA

And bringing the rope to boot. I fully support the NRA for not going, even putting in an appearance would have been giving tacit approval to the publicity stunt er um town hall…………
Full Disclosure: yes, I am an NRA Life Member.

    • thale_taxurfeet ♂ Vilified

As one of the twitterers mentioned, the participants were limited to asking one, pre-approved question. Why on earth would anyone want to attend that dog & pony show?

    • Go_Down_Moses

Well we don’t know what they would have been allowed to say since they didn’t show up, do we?

  • Chris Debaillon

Why would they continue to argue with someone who has already thoroughly lost the argument?

  • Jeff

I’ll tell you something….I think a rep from the NRA should’ve been there. I understand every argument against them being there, I truly do, but when you have an opportunity to dispute face-to-face what the president is doing (despite the constraints that would’ve been placed on the NRA rep), you’ve got to be there.

    • Girl who talks with her claws

Were they allowed to be there?
These “town hall” things seem to be exclusive, invitation only events.

      • Jeff

Yes, they did invite a NRA rep to this townhall, but they would’ve had to submit only 1 pre-approved question.

        • Girl who talks with her claws

And that question would have been “What can we do to make Obama and the Left not hate us so much?”
or maybe “Can you forgive us for being such big meanies by trying to resist your charm?”

      • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

they were invited but only permitted to ask ONE QUESTION.

        • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Oh, geez… they REALLY stacked the deck, didn’t they?

          What a maroon this Apatow toe-rag is…

        • Archons

If allowed two questions, the second question could be “why didn’t you answer my first question?”

        • Chew Bacca

And the questions should have been “Are you insane?”

    • john lecorchick

they were invited…with conditions. One, PRE-SCREENED, question! For the express purpose of being able to claim the NRA denied the invitation. Typical bummer admin tactics….
they can take their invite, shine it up real nice, and stick……………ss!

  • Girl who talks with her claws
    • Orpheus75

exactly! Why would he invite those with guns (pun intended) to a fight, when all he has is cotton balls.

    • Richard Jefferies

I was actually shocked they allowed Taya Kyle to ask a question.

      • Girl who talks with her claws

Must have taken all of Zilch’s self control to keep from clawing her eyes out.

  • Carolyn#OYSD

The fact that Obama has once again walked around Congress in his latest executive action on gun control makes it clear enough that he has no intention on listening to any type of solution that he didn’t originate.

    • Orpheus75

he knows that there is no way Congress would pass/allow his ideas through.

      • Carolyn#OYSD

Agreed. The problem is through out his entire #GunsinAmerica town hall he kept saying REPEATEDLY that we shouldn’t do NOTHING because we can’t do everything. He said we should work on those things that people agree on. And then he whips out his pen.

    Judd Apatow

Stick to making sh!tty rom-coms with fat Canadian stoners

  • Kevin Giltrud

Note to Hollywood Liberal Hack, Apatow.

You are aware that the phrase “logical argument” when spoken by your ilk is an embarrassing contradiction of terms, right?

    • Jeff

I’m a huge fan of the word “ilk”, I try to incorporate it into most of my conversations.

      • MarciaTheMurkyMuse🌠 Variegated

Sir Iain Moncreiffe of That Ilk wrote an enchanting book, Simple Heraldry. Highly recommend. A real vocabulary-booster, fer shure.

  • Frustrated Teacher

I have seen libs spewing defense of the President’s action by pointing out that ‘nobody had taken your guns away’….of course, this is ignorant sophistry. Very rarely in recent history has anyone just chopped off a freedom with no warning. If that happened here with guns there would be war in the streets…instead the tactic of the left is to whittle a little bit of the freedom away…get you used to the idea of not being as free. Maybe teach your kids that guns are wrong and hunting is wrong, or they don’t NEED that big of a gun. Then they whittle a TINY bit more because it isn’t THAT much different from what you had REALLY now, is it and nobody took away your guns!! Eventually, you have lost that freedom completely as a death from a thousand cuts because you never stood up against the TINY little infringements all along….it is like the story of cooking a frog…the slow gradual way works…if you are patient and devious!

    • Orpheus75

but let them try to make those same arguments when it applies to Abortion

    • john lecorchick

the left has only one virtue… patience.
what you describe in your post has been their M.O. since the Frankfurt school was conceived. it is how they attack all issue and policy.
      they have been very effective

    • rambler

Yup, nobody has…… and I’m not sure they would fully understand the consequences when they do try.

  • Seppsbladder

    • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

Short, sweet, and to the point. I like it!

  • Orpheus75

So then Obama wouldn’t mind going on Fox News or a Conservative Talk radio/TV show since he has all those “sane” and “logical arguments”.

  • Magnifico

Judd’s insinuating that no NRA member can stand up to Obama. Makes sense, considering he’s so lucid without his teleprompter.

    • thale_taxurfeet ♂ Vilified

      TOTUS agrees…

  • alanstorm

No logical argument? What would be the point, when answering Obama’s purely emotional argument?

    • surroundedbyidiots

Will the Oscars be a gun free zone? Will the stars’ and the event’s security be carrying guns? Or will it be, “gun protection for me, but not for thee?”

  • The Dragon

Surprised they didn’t take their one question. NRA members only need one shot.

    • Curt Williamson

My one question would have been, “If background checks are so important why has your DOJ prosecuted less than 20 of the over 200,000 criminals caught attempting to buy firearms since you took office? Seeing as how that is a felony.

      • thale_taxurfeet ♂ Vilified

Pre-approval would have killed that question in the… womb.

        • Curt Williamson

That wouldn’t have been my pre-approved question just the on camera one.

Because then they’d have to shut down a goodly chunk of the ATF, since there’d be multiple arrests of agents for selling guns to the cartels….. wait, that wouldn’t be a bad thing

  • JohnG911

If a Republican wins the presidency, the first executive orders should be the suspension of Secret Service protection for Obama and Clinton.

  • Sanchez

TALK is all Obama has done. He has YET to sign one Executive order or Executive Memorandum on expanding background checks or adding mental health to the NICS check.

I believe AG Lynch told him at the Monday meeting that his plans were not lawful and that is why he has yet to sign anything.
Until he signs and posts the EO or EM, no cabinet member can act on any directive.

  • notenoughtime

JUdd needs to stick to make believe. The NRA would have become the focus instead of Pres. O’s ego and true lack of any leadership skills.

  • Wanderer

Criminals don’t obey laws no matter how much dimwitted Hollywood directors and girly-man politicians so badly want them to.

    There’s your logical argument.

The NRA has better things to do than be window dressing for gun grabbing idiots to pitch failed policies that have cost far too many lives already.

  • Richard Jefferies

He didn’t say anything the NRA hasn’t heard hundreds of times before. Antis are broken records that repeat intellectual dishonest facts and figures in an attempt to scare Americans. Base on the gun sales, I would say maybe Judd and Obama would do well to close their sewer holes if they really want to slow gun proliferation.

  • Oysteria (I won)

Never heard of the guy. And it’ll take me about 2 minutes to forget him.

Q: Why does Apatow pay other men to service his wife? Because he’s a moral and physical coward who hides behind his ARMED bodyguards.

  • leonardjohnson

Main reason they didn’t attend and I don’t blame them, is because it would have been one question with no rebuttal….however, Kyles wife made the prez look like a straight up pussified punk though

  • JohnFLob

I think Judd Apatow is confusing Obama’s tirades with sensible gun control(s).

    re. logical / illogical arguments.
It all depends on starting premises & what you take as axiomatic.
This is true of BOTH sides.
The 2 sides don’t usually state them or are even completely conscious of them.
They just hear policies proposed by the OTHER side, which are actual logical conclusions.
But then they [unconsciously] apply their OWN starting points and can’t arrive at the same conclusion. It would be illogical. Then they project that IL-logic on the OTHER side.
    Both sides do this.

We all need to understand the OTHER side’s axioms, as well as be able to articulate our own.

A good starting point would be “Constrained” or “Unconstrained” view of human nature as explained by Thomas Sowell in “A Conflict of Visions”.

Francis Schaeffer addressed the same in “How Shall We Then Live”.

  • Prospector

Obama has been outstanding for the fortunes of the NRA. Why would they want to upset that?

  • sharkguitar

Wayne Lapiere is a fruitcake. He was foaming at the mouth on Meet the Press last year. The NRA needs someone more charismatic like Dick Cheney.
