The Obama administration and other Democrats are continuing their call for a minimum wage increase. @BarackObama, the Twitter feed operated by Organizing for Action, justified a minimum wage increase this way:

Nick Searcy noticed something about @BarackObama’s minimum wage increase sales pitch:

Searcy certainly wasn’t alone:

The Dems would simply use any further price increase as a justification for another raise in the minimum wage. Where does it end?

  • mfrazee29

What really hurts is the long term result of raising the minimum wage. Fewer and fewer young people are able to get into the work force because there is no chance for a small business to be able to hire people at a training wage, thus they don’t get hired. Just look at the unemployment numbers for people under 25 and then look at Black youth unemployment numbers and then tell me how great raising the minimum wage is.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

I miss Bush. Things under Bush only started getting bad AFTER Dems seized control of both the House and the Senate in 2006. We went into recession after their plans started taking effect. Libs can dress it up anyway they want, but that’s the reality. We hit a recession because Dems started pushing Bush for things and only letting him have things he wanted if he gave them what he wanted.

Libs would say “Bush was President, so it’s his fault.” Which is funny, because now Obama is President and “Nothing is his fault you racist.”

I miss Bush because when he was in office, I had a full-time job, my brother had a full-time job, my mom had a full-time job and my family was doing good. Less than 2 years into Obama’s first term? I’m unemployed, my brother is unemployed, my mother’s hours got slashed, and we’ve been struggling ever since. But according to libs, my family is doing much better than they were under Bush.

Couldn’t put $4 in the tank, if I wanted to (then).
      (Tank only held 15 gallons.)

      But look at the ‘upside;’ we have $17,600,368,000,000+ of debt;
and ‘nothing’ to show for it. (/sarc off, if not obvious).

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

That is what this really is. It’s OFA admitting (unknowingly) that Obama’s policies have driven up the cost of living, but has done nothing to stimulate job growth or grow the economy in a way where employers won’t be devastated by raising minimum wage.

They raise the minimum wage and then what? Prices skyrocket, layoffs skyrocket, and suddenly Dems are in spin mode trying to pin their raising the minimum wage on Republicans.

There is talk about raising the gas tax here to fund road maintenance. And the roads here are bad. Nevermind that is why they added a tax to gas in the first place We already have one of the highest taxes on gas but it might go even higher. It is .19/gallon now and they are proposing a plan to employ a 15.5% tax instead of a flat tax.

          • H50 ✓RAT

Yep, they seem to think we have money trees in our yards or something.
The feds seem to think that after they tack on that 12% tax, the states wont do the same, so were really looking at a 30% minimum increase.
Tons of stimulus money got pumped into this state for road improvements, and bridge reconstruction, and the roads still suck and the bridges are still falling down.
It never ends and nothing ever gets fixed.

  • VerminMcCann

Just a thought for the Twitchy crew: It does conservatism no favors when you post tweets criticizing Obama and they’re full of errors.

“Wow, I guess everything got more expensive since you’re dumb ass got elected. Thanks for reminding me.”

    • E Quilibrate

Not much can be in error when criticizing Obama, especially when
recounting the bad things that happened in the last 6 years, including
food and gas inflation no longer counted in the CPI

      • VerminMcCann

Bad grammar is bad grammar, and, like it or not, it makes people seem less intelligent.

        • Mango

Ok, fair enough, but typos happen every so often to all of us, doesn’t mean we never showed up to 8th grade English class, OK? If it’s a stupid post and riddled with mistakes..fine, fair game. But seriously, one incorrect contraction out of many grammatically acceptable posts is just not that big of a deal.

          • VerminMcCann

You don’t think that Twitchy could have found and used one more Tweet without an egregious grammar error in it and that the point of this post would have been better made if they had?

          • Mango

This isn’t a post about criticizing people for their poor grammar skills, so no, the one typo absolutely does not in any way impact how well the point was made.

          • VerminMcCann

That’s complete nonsense. Ineffective communication detracts from credibility, regardless of the issue. Barrack Obama wasn’t talking about the correct names of military specialties when he referred to Corpsmen as Corpse-men, but it still detracted from his credibility, right?

          • Mango

I think what’s detracting from the credibility of this conversation is the fixation on a typo…one typo in a tweet that Twitchy pulled from to help make a point. Yikes. Are you saying that you have never hit that enter key without realizing that you’ve made a mistake? It’s not that you don’t know the difference between ‘your’ and ‘you’re,’ you just weren’t focused enough or whatever and typed the wrong one. Are you that much less credible because you’ve made a typo once or twice? Again, it happens every so often. If it’s chronic bad grammar and spelling coming from someone who criticizing someone else or whatever, then there’s a credibility issue.

          • VerminMcCann

I posted zero comments about the typo and just one comment on the decision to use a post containing a typo. The remainder of my posts have been in response to the spectacularly stupid responses I received.

          • VerminMcCann

You’ll also note that my comment wasn’t critical of the original poster. I just questioned Twitchy’s decision to choose a Tweet with an error, rather than a different one.

    • John in OK

Just a thought for you, Vermin: only a total dipstick pays more attention to spelling than to the truth in the posting. Everyone makes mistakes. That’s why I have a good job today, looking for people’s mistakes. I’m a QA inspector and I enjoy it.

  • © Sponge

Isn’t it something like 3% of the jobs in the US are actually minimum wage jobs? That’s not a career, nor does it deserve a large wage.

  • Jack

    Lets see…….

    1. Obama has aided +80,000 illegal immigrants from South America, by providing US taxpayer funded flights and bus transportation across the US border and housing, clothing & food after their arrival. His ultimate plan of granting amnesty to his new Democratic demographics will undoubtedly cost the US taxpayer more in providing entitlements to the illegal immigrants.

    2. Obama has aided and abetted the enemy by releasing the 5 Islamic Terrorists. In addition, Obama continues to provide US taxpayer aide to Hamas, Syria (Islamic rebels better known as ISIS), and has alienated Israel a long standing US allies.

    3. Obama has “allegedly” used the IRS to target his political rivals. The word “allegedly” is used as the IRS won’t come forward with the corroborating e-mail information, claiming that computer hard drives have crashed resulting in the permanent loss of the white house communications. Evidently, the organization whom requires US taxpayers to maintain their financial records for documentation purposes, does not use a network server to back up their own documentation (e-mails) as is standard practice in any company.

    4. Then we have Benghazi. Obama supported the Islamic terrorists whom stormed the US Embassy and killed 4 US citizens.

Obama doesn’t have an agenda that concerns balancing the economy and creating jobs. Obama’s agenda is to create a society of servitude. If the price of milk goes up 400%, it is more in line with Obama’s plans as we will need assistance to buy our milk. Obama is not an incompetent bungler, Obama is a very dangerous enemy of state.
