Recently the IRS claimed to have “lost” the emails of Lois Lerner and others due to an alleged crashed hard drive. As Twitchy reported earlier, the EPA now also claims to have lost emails due to a crashed hard drive. What. A. Coincidence.

Many in the media can always be counted on to provide a glimpse at an early spin possibility, as Sam Stein of the Huffington Post demonstrated with this question:

One government agency under investigation “losing” email could vindicate another government agency under investigation because it shows the problem can happen to anybody? Comedy gold!

Let’s take a deep breath to recover, and think about that again:

Nope, it still doesn’t make any more sense the second time.

Stein was issued an investigative challenge:

We’ll hold.

Personally, ineffectuals like Sam Stein or Obummer himself remind me of the dipsh*t beta-male boss from Fight Club. The “Can we get that in ‘cornflower blue’?” guy.

How many of us can blame computer crashes during an IRS audit? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE IRS HERE MAN……………….

    • QueenB

….which is now in charge of enforcing our lovely new healthcare law! That’s some serious awesome sauce, right there.

      • H50 ✓RAT

If by awesomesauce you mean totally screwed….

        • QueenB

Serious awesome sauce with a side of sarcasm.

Someone pass the Tylenol, please. My brain is having difficulty trying to process the volume of stupid being thrown our way.

      Will the smell wash out?

    • Archer305

I’m pretty sure this volume of stupid causes cancer… and global warming…

…and when another of your first grade kids says the dog ate his homework, it certainly means the first one was telling the truth, too.

His dog ate my homework too.

They could have gone with the ….” in order to really screw up you need a computer.”

You know what they say about repeated exposure desensitizing you.

My bet is a hard drive at ICE, Customs and open Border Protection or DHS crashes.

If you recall, Obama pushed the Meridia Initiative giving almost $2 Billion to Mexico and Central American countries to strengthen their borders.

With the thousands arriving daily, we see again how well spent that money was.

    • rightside100

Silly boy that money was to allow them to pass through the horde. The flood gates opened after Kerry’s visit to Mexico last month.

  • Phil T.

I have said this before, but this is classic tv/movie conspiracy theory drama. Yet, no investigative reporting. It’s solely a partisan attack by the congress.

I’d say I’m at a loss for words, but apparently the current slang is….my hard drive crashed.

  • cbenoistd

    Sam: Bless your heart.

  • gekkobear

This is evidence not only that the IRS is innocent, but that Congressional subpoenas cause hard drive crashes.

As more hard drives in landfills are an ecological issue we need to end all congressional investigations into everything for ever… for the good of the planet.

    What? Oh… yeah.
Some days even I can’t tell if I’m a lunatic fringe parody; or a completely serious liberal when I do that schtick.
They’re making satire much harder for everyone.

ok so sarcasm and witty remarks are great, but when do we start putting these twits in jail!! I imagine the emails will show up then.

    • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Oh, you’re so cute– bless your little cotton socks! Like Holder or anyone in the Administration would ever do something like that!

Seriously– it SHOULD happen, but I despair that it ever will, because all these are criminals you are dealing with. And I don’t know how you dislodge criminals from the highest levels of power, when they’re ALL criminals, short of doing something that might be considered “criminal” also. And let me leave it at that.

  • j p✓ʳᵉᶠʳᶦᵉᵈ

Yes, and If I go on a murder spree it will prove Charles Manson is innocent.

And, if Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit.

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

    Weapons. Grade. Stupid.

  • Askwatch

I watch the news and no one brings up the fact that e-mails are not stored on hard drives. I have never attempted to do so on a hard drive, and have no idea how to try. Does anyone do so?

I had a hard drive crash on my desktop at a Fortune 500 corp. in 2005, and lost none of my email.

    • rightside100

Their explanation is that the backups exist for six months and then are wiped. Apparently those who lost their emails never bothered or requested they be restored which is the law.

      • Chrissy the Hyphenated

It’s worse than that. They “crashed” (read: “trashed”) their hard drives with days of Congress initiating the investigation. Whatchawannabet these people did NOT lose any of the information that was on those drives that they cared about? Anybody take that action?

Shortly after destroying evidence, the IRS canceled the backup service the law requires them to maintain. The Commish is claiming it was cuz it was so expensive. Yeah, that totally explains why you had money for those fancy retreats and bonuses.

THEN they stalled Congress until the six months tapes had been overwritten repeatedly before getting pressured into admitting they didn’t have the emails they had said fershure they’d be turning over any minute now.

But there’s no “real” victims … just Tea Partiers and other right-wingnuts who don’t deserve to live. The French Revolutionaries were all for that attitude also; then when they ran out of enemies, they turned on each other.
