As Twitchy has reported, President Obama ordered the release of five Gitmo detainees to secure the return of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from his Taliban captors in Afghanistan.

Recently, a tweet was published from the account of Bowe Bergdahl’s father, Robert, which stated a desire to see all Gitmo detainees released:

Here’s the tweet from Bob Bergdahl’s account, which was published May 28 and deleted Saturday night (at the time of publication the deletion of the tweet has not been acknowledged on the account):

The tweet had time to generate plenty of controversy before it disappeared:

Many obviously didn’t think that tweet was a good idea, and apparently neither did the @BobBergdahl account, or perhaps an outside adviser.

‘Will threaten lives of American soldiers’: Rep. Mike Rogers blasts decision to release Taliban leaders

  • Michelle ✓classified

Oh man, just when I wanted to be so happy for this father, he says something like that? First, I think he oughta simmer down – his only involvement in a Gitmo situation is pertaining to his son. That’s now done. Exactly what influence does he think he’ll continue to have? He really should give some serious thought to just focusing on his son once he’s back in their home and doing all he can to heal his son – he has a long road of mental recovery ahead of him.

    • Harry A

This tweet happened before his son was released.

      • Michelle ✓classified

I understand that, I read the post. If I’d worded it as, “Just when I wanted to be happy for this father, I learn he said something like that?” would that have been better understood?

        • Harry A

Sorry for misunderstanding. From the rest of your post asking what influence he thinks he will still have and suggesting he focus on his son (both of which I agree with you on), I thought you might have mistaken it for a tweet from today.

          • Michelle ✓classified

No, I got it he posted it before today, but although now deleted, I believe those words came from him (he wasn’t hacked). Just because he deleted the tweet doesn’t mean he didn’t make that statement. My words were in case he still has plans to be the Gitmo Fairy Godmother. Americans were just placed in danger in order for his son to be returned to him, he should just be mighty grateful, step out of the limelight and not become a Gitmo activist. I’m beyond happy for the release of his son, but it was at the expense of teaching terrorists they can kidnap Americans and get their buddies released from Gitmo. Honestly, he, his wife and his son are the only winners in this.

          • Utopia Can Never be Achieved

I’m not sure how true this is – but I did find this on Wiki.

            “Reports of joining the Taliban[edit]

In August 2010 it was reported that a Taliban commander named Haji Nadeem said Bergdahl was helping to train the Taliban in bomb making and infantry tactics. The Pentagon dismissed the reports as Taliban propaganda”

          • Utopia Can Never be Achieved

It is noted that Obama may have broken some rules in the 5-for-1 swap as congress wasn’t notified of this until the actual exchange took place.

          • Bill Phillips

Obama breaking rules? Surely you jest.

          • Michelle ✓classified

What credibility does that claim have? It comes from the Taliban. They tend to, uh…lie a lot. Truth is, none of us know a darn thing about the circumstances of his capture. I’m choosing to wait for the facts to come out before I believe any side of the story.

          • F. De Moraes

Not anymore than this current administration!

          • Michelle ✓classified

True. And for the record, I said I was waiting to hear the facts, I didn’t say from this administration so I’m not sure why folks are assuming that.

          • Utopia Can Never be Achieved

Unfortunately, the only facts that we’ll know is what we uncover ourselves. Outside of Judicial Watch, Katie Pavlich and a small handful of others, I don’t feel we’ll really hear the real story from anybody else.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. That’s the only approach that we can take – unfortunately.

          • conservativechick

I remember seeing this, too. HE did talk about deserting. Many soldiers posted and said he was a traitor who walked away from his post and was a “volunteer” prisoner? Who knows.

          • Bobby

            Then he belongs in jail.

          • AirForceMomJo

I would place the talibans lying right up there with the current administrations. You can’t believe either of them

          • Mohammad Mosaddegh

They all follow the same drum beat 😉

          • 44Grim

They didn’t chop his head off like just about everyone else they’ve captured from America. That’s a telling sign.

          • Michelle ✓classified

I totally agree that is curious and I did wonder about that. I still prefer to wait until I have actual details before I decide either way.

          • Bill Phillips

Not to mention the fact that he was the ONLY American “prisoner” being “held hostage” ….ONLY ONE!

          • clingermac

After 5 years he still has his head. Daniel Pearl and others weren’t so “lucky?”.

          • Kyle Potter

I don’t know how much I believe the training the Taliban part. but I was over there when he deserted his post with plans to walk out and walk to Europe.

          • Samantha Sandoval

So it’s true that he intentionally went AWOL?

      • R.J. Hood

Hmmm…it is on his twitter feed as being posted 7 hours ago. Strange

      • AirForceMomJo

Doesn’t matter when the tweet came through. The point is that this man is a terrorist sympathizer just like BHO

      • Saito Sama

        And that matters because?

        • Bill Phillips

BECAUSE …it puts into question the motives and role of his son in this entire calamity of affairs!

    • Blake Waymire

I saw the headline and thought he was making a joke. Then I come here and see that he’s dead serious. Oy vey.

      • Michelle ✓classified

I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and thinking maybe he was just riding high on the news his son would soon be released.

        • Guest

Wait, now I’m confused. I was under the impression that because this tweet was from a few days ago he likely didn’t know about his son’s release. Are you saying that when he tweeted this he knew that his son was going to be released, because that would change my opinion of his tweet?

          • Michelle ✓classified

You’d have to ask him the exact sequence of events. Common sense tells me he knew of his son’s negotiated release before it was announced to the rest of us.

          • Jake Wilde

I would just like the events surrounding his son’s capture to be made clearer. There is too much information out there that conflicts with Bergdahl’s story. Was he on patrol or did he leave with three Afghans from his base on his own? There is a lot of stink here…..

          • Michelle ✓classified

And until they are made clearer, I’m not jumping to any conclusions.

          • CrossroadsDawg

We get it, Michelle !! You’ve stated the same comment at least 5 times. If you think you’re going to get the “Truth” from this Administration, you can forget it.

          • Michelle ✓classified

Oh stop whining. Point out where I said I expect the truth from this Administration. I said I’m waiting to learn the facts of the situation, you are the one assuming I expect to get those facts from this Administration.

I probably said the same thing a few times in response to how many times it was addressed with me. Get over it, James.

          • NoWeakness

Just so I understand you correctly – Instead of personally researching the matter, you’re going to wait for main-stream media to spoon feed you the Administrations version of the events? Isn’t there enough information, various links and other substantiated facts in this comment section, alone?

It appears you’re looking for a reason to fall on your hands and knees, looking for the slightest bit of intelligence that clears your wonderful administration! How does one come to worship the most evil of evil souls walking this planet?

            B. Hussein Obama is on a mission to release all his Muslim Brethren – and you’re waiting with baited breath for some additional facts… right!

            Wait… are you Muslim?

        • hwy505

Before you give the father the benefit of the doubt – read other Tweets that remain and a little background – also read:

          • Bill Phillips

Thanks for the link! Very revealing and it appears if everything in that article is the verifiable truth …then ‘Michelle’s’ giving him and his father the “benefit of the doubt” is highly unjustified!
It also appears that we don’t have to wait for more American lives to be lost as a result of these five terrorists being released …many have already lost their lives trying to find and “rescue” (if indeed he needed rescuing) this apparently disgruntled soldier who apparently went AWOL!

        • Bill Phillips

“Marsano is in regular contact with Bergdahl’s mother, Jani, and father, Bob, who has grown a long, thick beard and learned to speak the Afghanistan tribal language Pashto.

STILL giving him and his father the benefit of the doubt?

      • conservativechick

I remember reading back in 2010 that he was a deserter and many who were serving with him accused him of abandoning his post!

        • Blake Waymire

After reading that stuff about him turning to Islam, I’m becoming very, very suspicious about this story.

          • Bill Phillips

IT sure appears like we have ONE MORE scandal from the Obama administration!

    • oldandtired

Maybe his son was not a prisoner. Something to think about. Maybe things are not what they seem???? again.

    • rennyangel2

I read he is a Muslim–that’s why ozero decided to ransom out the son, when it is against the law to deal directly with terrorists. Impeach ozero and defeat all Dems.

    • AskmewhyIleftCA

Which nut job are you referring regarding the long road of mental recovery? Like father/like son apparently. SO glad the Prez, once again, broke the law and decades of policy to bring a traitor back to his traitorous family.

      • Michelle ✓classified

Love it when folks comment without reading an entire thread.

    • clingermac

No he really should give some serious thought to Gillette.

    • TheDude

I wonder how the father feels about the 6 servicemen who died while searching for this deserter.

      • Michelle ✓classified

Most likely has never given them a single thought.

  • fireandreamitchell

Is it possible the guy was hacked? (( mean for real?) Otherwise, now we know Obama negotiates with terrorists. Welcome to Obama’s AmeriKa.

    • mongeau

I’m wondering, what happened to the USA will not negotiate with terrorist mantra we seem to have been crapping out our mouths.

      • TJB

        Obama is what happened ….

        • STOSH

          That is very very obvious.
Also what seems kind of obvious is that this could have been pre planned.I think there are too many coincidences here to ignor.

      • Mark81150 Never/Trump/Hillary

Obama stone cold refused to negotiate with the republican House to end his shut down and abuse of US Memorials…

but he’ll make a deal with the Taliban to release 5 known dangerous leader’s for one GI,.. when that has never happened before in any conflict.

so to Obama, the GOP is a more bitter enemy than the Taliban?

The guys who throw acid in the faces of little girls for learning to read?..

What the Hell else has that sellout given away to these scumbags..

and that father thinks we are to blame for every dead Afghan child?… sorry, been an airman,.. am a father, but that Dad has gone completely native, our dead mean nothing.. but boy he sure mourns theirs..

        • conservativechick

I swear that Benghazi was a kidnapping gone wrong due to brave men NOT standing down. Obama wanted to negotiate the release of the Blind Sheik! IMO No other reason to leave that embassy so vulnerable to a planned attack.

    • Brown

Idk I doubt it though. Look at his older tweets which talk about dead Children in the Middle east and wanting to release Gitmo prisoners.

      • Utopia Can Never be Achieved

        This is pretty interesting:

“At times Mr Bergdahl speaks in a language used in northern Pakistan and Afghanistan, in a great effort to engage with the Taliban offshoot forces.

The prospect of his son – who has converted to Islam and adopted the Muslim name Abdullah, according to his captors – being freed has not been helped by an aggressive campaign by U.S. and allied forces against the Haqqani network in recent months.

According to Nato’s International Security Assistance Force they have killed or captured dozens of Haqqani fighters and associates.

Bowe Bergdahl, whose whereabouts is unknown, last appeared in a video released by Manba al-Jihad – a group associated with the Taliban – last December.”

Plus, scroll down and watch the 3-minute plea from the father. His language seems to reach out to the Taliban and those in Pakistan.

        • susan

This is very interesting. People need to pay attention. There is some hidden agenda going on, and it’s very disturbing to me.

          • STOSH

            “That is very very obvious.
Also what seems kind of obvious is that this could have been pre planned.I think there are too many coincidences here to ignor.”

        • Brown

Thank your for the video and link, maybe he’s thinks saying these nice things and sympathizing with these animals will help his son return safe? I have a hard time being critical of the way the dad is acting since it’s such a tragic situation and he has to know what these sick animals have done to other prisoners. I hope the dad is just a little weird mixed with being nervous/freaked out in this situation or just a far left guy who never came back from Woodstock and this wont come back and bite us in the ass.

    • Republicanvet

Read his timeline. Not hacked. This really pi$$es me off because now soldiers still deployed will be facing either these 5, or facing jihadists they command, and will die because of it.

      • Guest

Do not know if this is accurate but this was tweeted.

        • Guest

          This was tweeted earlier.

          • Republicanvet

That is part of the reason why I said I was only happy to see him come home to his family. His family now has him, albeit they sound nuts, but I read a comment like this some time ago and wondered how much truth we had gotten. If he really walked off.

I am happy he is no longer in Taliban hands, simply because he can no longer be used as a bargaining chip.

Should be he prosecuted? If the facts warrant that, but I doubt the US Government under Preezy Kickass will allow it.

          • Mark81150 Never/Trump/Hillary

If he really went rogue and is now working for the Taliban, he’s a danger to any American near him..

if he did, and the FBI doesn’t have him under constant watch…

and he plants bombs, goes on a shooting spree,..

this is 1000% on Obama,.. the guy’s insane muslim loving daddy, and any other low rent traitor involved..

this guy had better be cleaner than a hounds tooth, or he exposes Americans to murder.. and Obama to being a sellout.

RS is not an unbiased source, but seriously, that article reads like some of the worst “journalism” committed during Vietnam… low IQ types don’t exactly line up to enlist, and while bad units exist,.. this seems WAY ovef the top…

I’ll stick with first hand accounts of the troops who were there, the RS, the Guardian are rabidly anti-military rags..

Granted it was in the 80’s.. but when I enlisted, the rank and file troops scored 20 points higher on basic intelligence tests than any civilians, and the Navy, Air Force 20 higher than that.. while things change.. you have to take much of this with a huge grain of salt..

it took years after the draft for the services to lose their reputation for taking the worst possible recruits, handed over by judges, jail or enlist arrangements, while I was in, any hint that had happened was grounds for immediate discharge..

but even accounting for that.. this guy was a basketcase, from gadfly basketcase parents, named their kids, “Bowe, Sky”?….really?..

And the French Foreign Legion who are renowned for accepting fleeing felons from literally anywhere turned him down because he was home schooled?

Pull the other finger… that’s bullschit… they’ll take a forger from Germany, a stick up man from Ireland, but a home schooled Idaho farm kid is too high risk?

you can pretty much discount this article, so many hard left tropes in it, you can’t parcell out what might, maybe, be true…

          • Riley2c

Excellent eye. Michael Hastings is now dead. Maybe he was onto something?

          • lostnvegas

I mean since it seems ok to have people read a persons twitter feed why not go to the guy who wrote this and thank/blast him as well.. tit for tat as they say.

don’t think they will be the only ones. It will be here too. They have cells and even training camps all around this country.

    • R.J. Hood

Look at his twitter feed… he is pro-Islam and speaks about Allah and Gitmo a lot.

    • audieho

Hacked 3 days before the exchange? Too coincidental if you ask me.

    • lisalake

NO. Scroll down his page and see other sympathetic tweets.

  • JSizzle

What dum dum would release terrorists who will more than likely go right back out and get involved in further terroristic activity?

Of course; it is wonderful to have an American soldier back. However; that comes with a steep price that shouldn’t be forgotten. Knowing that we will negotiate with (and legitimize) terrorists only serves to place soldiers in greater danger of being kidnapped. For every 1 terrorist successfully thwarted 5 more sprout up. Negotiating and catering to terrorists shouldn’t be an option. This battle will never end it seems….

Can I profile and take a guess at dad’s religion?

    • Bob Smetters

Uh… republicans released hundreds of terrorists from Gitmo and other camps for nothing in return.. How quickly we forget, or ignore.

  • FreedomFighter

Its as if the Taliban wrote a letter to him demanding the release of Gitmo detainees.

    • mongeau

maybe they were homosexual coming out of the closet terrorist and Obama had to release them

  • Linda

Wonder if he did it in an effort to help get his son released or if he became “converted” as he made such an effort to learn their language and tried to get his son released. One of the tweets said this sounds a bit like Homeland…sure hope not.

  • Jessica Connel

    Curious… I smell another scandal.

    • Utopia Can Never be Achieved

Obama and this administration have had so many scandals, I think we’ll start to see them repeating some of the same scandals all over again. We all know that just about every other scandal has occurred at this point in time. I wish I didn’t have to say that, but it’s just the reality that I feel from observations and careful reading.

  • FreedomFighter

Every time Obama opens his mouth scandal comes out.

  • twinx

Was he trying to make nice to the captors so they’d release his kid? I don’t think we’ll EVER hear the truth about this story from this administration.

  • frozeninbemidji

So much for the conflicting emotions he may have felt when the next American is kidnapped.

  • Harry A

I’m weary of us digging through his family’s history like this. Perhaps the Taliban have written him and said that that’s the only way he’ll get his son back, they have said as much in videos before. This man has been living knowing that his son has been held captive for many many years. I have no understanding of what that could do to the mind and spirit. From the outside, removed from this situation we can debate the costs of the deal, it’s easier for us to be rationale. And the costs of this deal are truly high – and deserving of debate. But closer to the situation as a father, a mother, a sister ask yourself at what price would you give up your child. Can you be rationale and logical.

    • FreedomFighter

I agree. If he had said similar things before his son was captured, i would say there is a lot more to this story.

    • Brian S

His son is the one who deserted camp and surrendered. Maybe now we know why. Should have left them keep him instead of releasing 5 killers.

      • covertaffairs

    • Penelope210

I can sympathize with that rational but he had every opportunity to tell them all to go F themselves once his son was back in US custody. He did not!

    • mhojai

having served in the Marines for 7 years, I have an inkling of the mindset of the military -VOLUNTEERS …one is duty… another is the recognition of the potential for sacrifice. I can’t imagine any American serving in the military who has watched his brothers die at the hands of the ragheads, wanting any of the GITMO detainees released on their account. IF the father was kissing taliban ass trying to appease them, AND the son didn’t actually desert, he was dishonoring his son.

His father as much as gave his blessing to the boy for deserting – and the young man had already shipped his books and uniforms back home to his parents before leaving, telling them to do what they wanted with them. See page 4 of this article.

      • Jamie Wilson

After American soldiers died trying to rescue this idiot, I feel NO sympathy for any of them. Those brave men were fathers, brothers, sons, husbands. Several families in America still mourn their beloved, while this one’s coming home.

    • John Galt

Ya know, during other conflicts we have accounts of numerous Americans held by equally brutal regimes and they didn’t break and neither did their families back home.

  • JoeCasepack

If I was Bowe Bergdahl, I would knock my father out and shave his terrorist sympathizing beard off of him. (no offense to beard owners who have them for non-Muslim purposes, in fact, a beard is good)

But Bowe’s daddy has let his mind slip into wacko-land. Just as all the terrorists hope for the USA.

  • silverburstgorilla

Something doesn’t add up. I have a very uneasy feeling about this.

    • JoeCasepack

His daddy lost his mind. Ain’t much to figure. The beard says it all.

      • silverburstgorilla

What is the beard telling you? :/

          That you are a troll.

I’m a troll? HA! This coming from someone who went from calling Bowe Bergdahl’s dad insane to calling him a hero in just a few minutes.

          Alalalalalalala that’s what I think.

There was speculation/rumor when it happened that the soldier walked away from the base or switched sides. Now the terrorists are negotiated with, and the soldier is traded for 5 terrorist commanders, then this tweet comes out?

Damn right this doesn’t add up. Sounds like it was set up from the start to me.

      • Linda

Tweet was made on May 28, not today.

        • Conservative First

Thanks, but still doesn’t change anything. Still doesn’t add up. Actually makes things a bit more suspicious.

      • Stryder51

Doesn’t anyone find it strange that they were willing to hold him all these years when in the past the Taliban have murdered every American soldier they captured? This entire “event” reeks.

    • WhoMeToo

I’m not trying to be unkind. I feel for the man. But he’s clearly insane.

  • Byte187

Maybe he was just saying whatever the taliban wanted to hear in order to help get his son released. If that’s the case, I say, Well done, Dad!

    • TundraThunder

And hopefully, he’ll walk away whistling and forget what he said about Gitmo.

    • JoeCasepack

Fair enough. I hope he has the sense to shave the beard and stop talking nonsense to appease the kidnappers of his child.

Don’t get me wrong, I admire his devotion and achievement in rescuing his son! I think he’s a hero of a dad. I’d give him Father of the Year if Obama wasn’t trying to take it from him, lol.

Maybe now we know why his son laid down his weapon, sneaked out of camp, and gave up to them.

  • Brian S

Who is the real terrorist here? Barry releases 5 killers for 1 deserter, his brother is a fundraiser for terror groups and was rushed a tax-exempt status, he supported the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, he re-arms Al Qaeda in Syria, he has other family members in Hamas, the VA lets disabled vets die……

  • Steve__Jacobson

Gitmo prisoners in critical conditon due to hunger strike. To bad, eat a ham sandwich.

  • damnedweare

he wants is son home.. HE Typed some words…. I would type anything they wanted… F= them… SORRY. Terrorists.. That is on OBAMA.. not this father.

    • JoeCasepack

      I 100% agree.

Bowe Bergdahl’s daddy is the hero. Not Obama.

      • silverburstgorilla

You just said a few minutes ago his daddy is insane, now you’re calling him a hero?

        • JoeCasepack

I will allow him time to shave his beard and renounce his stupid statements. It’s called giving the benefit of the doubt… something you libs can’t fathom.

          • silverburstgorilla

Now I’m a liberal? Your perception needs a lot of work. I’m 100% conservative.

  • silverburstgorilla

Check out this tweet he made a few days ago:

    • damnedweare

bob is living in a world that wants his son home.. HIS SON is living in hell and they will do what ever is needed. IMHO>>>> SAD.

      • covertaffairs

        ^^^ delusional POS

        • damnedweare

OK, so I said they would do what ever is needed.. Ugh, it looks like they did POS. Converts to islam ashsosle…. take a couple letter out…

      • John Galt

Ever hear of the Code of Conduct?

        • damnedweare

Yes it looks like I was wrong.. I was hoping this had a sense of real/ not just OBAMA FOG>>> for VA.. SUCKS

    • silverburstgorilla

Well, looks like Bob deleted another tweet.

  • Irshgld

The apple does not fall far from the tree……..This procurement of the AWOL is looking to be a major FUBAR for the incompetent, narcissistic, POS…..AGAIN!

  • adnnews1

Well, one thing you cannot accuse this guy of is being a Tea Partier. If you look at his tweets, you can tell he is not your normal Idahoan

  • Rich Puzzo

Have you even given any thought to how his son disappeared? No one seems to know for sure. They say he seems to have wandered off. That sounds pretty unreasonable to me. What if his son was sympathetic to the cause? What if the son was in cahoots and was a willing participant when he “wandered off”? My how the plot thickens.

  • mhojai

seems to validate the impression that the son deserted rather than was a “captured prisoner” …makes Alice in Wonderland look sane!

  • damnedweare

seriously, you don’t see what is going on…? this is Obama trying to deflect…

    • JoeCasepack

The fact that he ignored the law? (oddly enough there is a recent and specific law about moving the saints at gitmo)

He is not a dictator. He is still tied to our racist constitution whether he likes it or not.

      • damnedweare

no.. I am in agreement … My point is this all distraction so Obama “Rescued” a prisoner … to deflect from VA and every other made up scandal… sarc

        • JoeCasepack

It’s cool. I’m sure there are layers of reasons behind this situation. Obama is and always has been about distraction, smoke, and mirrors… Moron Obama probably thinks this and forcing Shinseki to resign(before his announced resignation, of course) will make the entire VA scandal go away.

          • damnedweare

again… not for the release, just trying to understand the dad. that is all. I believe he would say anything to get his child home.. I BELIEVE words mean nothing.. whatever it takes.. that is all imo…

  • audieho

I spent the afternoon pointing out that the DoD had never released an official statement regarding the circumstances of Bowe’s capture and it was foolish speculation and unproven rumor that he deserted his unit, but after seeing this tweet (I seen it while it was on the account), I’m pretty sure I was wrong. I’m thinking this entire family should probably leave the country for their own safety at this point.

    • allyall

There’s a lot of commenters in all these articles naming men who died in pursuit of this young man that emailed his dad saying he was ashamed to be American, left his post with very little, and was seen in local village by children looking for the Taliban. This is just information I have gleaned in response to this today.

      • JoeCasepack

We will never know the real truth. I will assume that Bowe was just the average stupid person who would think he could go make friends and make a difference.

I’m afraid we have raised an entire generation of really brain-dead people. They think because they are so enlightened they can just go hand out daisies and everything will be fine. Then the girl they gave a flower to gets honor raped and killed but it’s the guy with the flowers fault. Same stupid thought process in South Chicago.

      • audieho

Yes, I have seen those posts, too. Experience shows that all too often there are people who claim to have inside knowledge or information, and all too often they pan out to be fake keyboard commandos looking for 15 seconds of fame because of their weak self-esteem. This time, it appears not to be the case, and the elder Bergdahl’s tweet emphatically emphasizes that.

  • 66lima

If I am ever taken hostage for any reason, please send in the biggest bomb you have and kill me and every SOB within 5 miles of me.

    • audieho

That’s what I say. You can rest assured that I am already dead, because I will fight til my last breath. Just a 1 MT yield nuke placed in the vicinity of my last known whereabouts is all I ask.

  • Dee Dunbar

SOMETHING STINKS big time here! Is he an Islum convert? or selling out America to free his son????????????????????????this is a RED FLAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • JoeCasepack

Go back to salon and think of something clever.

      • Dee Dunbar

like to see yourself in print? maybe you need to come up with something that makes sense at least!

        • JoeCasepack

From the maroon who can’t even spell “Islam” right.

          • MJRAWL

          • Linda

Oh, I hate pointing this out to you, but “maroon” should be “moron.”

          • Jaels_Song

He might have been calling her a “maroon,” as in: maroon cookie.

          • Christine

You do realize that “maroon” is actually a real insult, right? Didn’t you ever watch Bugs Bunny? What a maroon!

          • TexSizzle

            Tell Bugs Bunny.

          • reddarin

The spelling is from Bugs Bunny – from back when cartoons were funny.

          • Linda

            Ahhhh, ok.

          • Stryder51

It could have been an intentional play on words….Islum…”slum”. Get it?

          • Dee Dunbar

            and doesn’t CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FreedomFighter

I believe we need more info on this family before the son was captured.

  • MovingToNevada

    This guy’s a nut.

  • R.J. Hood

    Excerpt from Bowe Bergdahl’s Wikipedia

“He was a Private First Class (E-3) when captured. He was promoted to Sergeant (E-5) on June 17, 2011” Is it common place to promote deserters?

  • covertaffairs

to those thinking the father said this to help aid his son’s release (because im seeing a lot of that below). his son was released BEFORE it was announced to the world. a deal was made BEFORE…..there was sh.t going on behind the scenes WAY BEFORE this traitor father tweeted that. deals are not made overnight. deals are made over much much time….

    dont be so easily fooled.

    • FreedomFighter

Prisoners arent considered released until they are in U.S. custody. That happened yesterday.

  • Jim Murray

I can only hope he was under some outside pressure when that Tweet appeared under his name.

    • The Masked Avatar

Nope. Look at his other tweets. The guy is obviously sympathetic to the enemy.

  • Horatio Hornblower

The whole family may have converted to pig sucking islam to free son. We will see if the beard stays on after son’s return. If POW really converted to pig sucking islam then we really made a bad trade.

  • JustMyOpinion

maybe when he has his kid back , truly back his tune will change, dont know what the dad has gone thru or not. I am hoping he is not being sympathetic.

    • damnedweare

      I believe dad would say anything… I can’t say I wouldn’t also…
first time Obama cared…. because of VA… imo

      • JoeCasepack

The father is a hero.. maybe completely insane at this point, but a hero.

You really do think a lot of Obama. He cares about no one but himself.

Mrs. Malkin, as usual, is ON IT way before anyone else. Thank you, MRB, for bringing us this must-see eye opener!

  • mrspinky85

I’m at a loss about this situation.

  • arturo

Barry needs his jihadis on the streets, in the Middle East, and here at home. Be vigilant!

  • Gordon Waite

I am 55 years old and I feel like I have seen too much, and I just don’t want to live on this planet anymore! I feel like a dinosaur! A conservative dinosaur that awakens each day to a new Obama scandal that no one will hold him accountable for. Why? Is it because he is black, or because he wants to destroy this country, and all the media are communists that want the same thing?

  • The Masked Avatar

This stinks to high heaven. Something is going on here and the Washington Post has already reported that it is most likely illegal.

    • JoeCasepack

Not most likely. Obama’s administration or whoever was behind this prisoner transfer broke a real law recently passed and signed by the Emperor himself.

Will it be properly reported in the media?.. not likely, not even likely with Fox… they will bleat a couple times with Hannity or some other easily ignored hack and follow what ever they are told to report.

    • RadioPatriot

I agree. Something is not right here. There’s more to this. HOMELAND? Sgt. Brody? I dunno. But something’s amiss.

  • damnedweare

dad wants his kid back..imo.. I would say anything tooo….. Obama didn’t care for 5 yrs right>?

    • The Masked Avatar

Say anything? It was a tweet. Is the enemy following the father on Twitter? Come on, man. This is very strange.

      • damnedweare

yes… my point exactly. no tweet matters. it is strange, but I don’t hold dad at fault.. Obama is using this as a deflection and we are debating the fathers intentions which I believe are obvious. Obama didn’t give a shit for 5 yrs.. my point.

  • Mary Mommy Happy 2016!

Enjoy Obama 15 minutes of pretending to caring about your family plighted Robert, which after he got no more use for you as a political stage prop. Obama is going to ignore you and denied that you ever existed.

  • Damien_Son_of_Hussein

His Father looks, sounds, and acts like al-Qaeda. Obama must love him.

  • damnedweare

this is a lost argument… I guess Obama wins… he deflected to the father when O DIDN’T give a crap for 5 yrs…

    • JoeCasepack

Obama always wins. VA Scandal… it’s Shinseki, fire him problem solved.

  • Jared Myers

    Was his account hacked, perhaps?

    • damnedweare

5 yrs and nothing… now it is headlines. DAD didn’t do this.. THIS IS OBama

      • Jared Myers

I’m not sure what to think. Kinda weird for his Dad to be saying this, which is why I wonder if his account was hacked (or something like that). At any rate, I’m just glad to have Bowe home — we should have gotten him home sooner.

        • damnedweare

damn straight… thumbs up brother!! my point..well you get it, but I wouldn’t hold it against dad if he offered goats to …ugh, I can’t say it…

  • jazj

He can delete it all he wants, don’t you find this even more disturbing?

He has this link on his twitter, dated 29th May 2014 with his response after retweeting it “Ameen”

  • nc ✓s & balances

I always thought the Stockholm Syndrome only applied to the actual prisoners.

    • Stryder51

It does. But I think that’s why they said “by proxy” regarding the father.

  • Chuck L

Hey dad, it’s ok. Your boy is coming home. He’s safe. He’s in good hands. You can go back to being an American again.

  • ObsidianBlack6

Desertion and aiding the enemy, yep the apple does not fall far from the tree…

  • jazj

This is the one I am thinking that could be even more disturbing.

  • Jaels_Song

Is there any doubt where Obama’s loyalties belong? Islam, that’s where. How about the American pastor jailed in Iran… they’ve done nothing to help him. Think maybe Oblowme can work on getting the Marine released in Mexico? Hu? Maybe if the pastor denounced Christianity… maybe then, Obama would consider helping him out.

    • Nizzemancer

yet another christian suffering from persecution complex…

      • tops116 ✓Quipper

Liberals would be the experts on persecution complexes. They take everything so damn personally, after all.

        • Shubi

Notice how Nizzemancer cannot give a legitimate, substantive response to Jaels_Song’s comment? Of course, if you read his/her other comments in this thread, it becomes obvious that his/her lack of reading comprehension skills makes it impossible for him/her to do so. Just another liberal, knee-jerk defender of President Indefensible. Pathetic really; yet typical.

        • Nizzemancer

Maybe but at least they’re not a global majority crying “aw poor me, you *insert minority here* is persecuting me because I’m not alone in having certain rights anymore.”

  • Barack Hussein Sharpton

“God will repay for the death of every Afghan child, ameen!”

That reads like a Muzzie prayer for retribution against America.

    • Nizzemancer

he forgot to use a pronoun after “repay”… And it sounds nothing like muslim prayers as those are in arabic…

      • tops116 ✓Quipper

Yeah, and Muslim prayers typically wish harm on Israel, too. Can’t forget that.

  • BitemeDC

OK…devils advocate…was the dad just posturing so the Taliban thought he was “with them”?

I’m a mom…and I gauran dam tee…I’d grow a beard, learn talibaneeze and make pretend I cared about the pigs at Gitmo…

    • katch52

      • BitemeDC

Are you a mom who had a kid in war?

        • katch52

No, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t do what Berghdahl did. It didn’t serve any purpose and showed he is of weak character… Obama and the rest of the left.

          • BitemeDC

            You mean the dad?

It’s a twitter comment…remember when “twitter was silly when it was about “bring home our girls”?

Isn’t it still “silly” when a dad wants to make a comment about lovin’ him some Taliban ?

            I mean…the “terrorists” don’t read twitter….right?

btw…I’m prob on “your side” but I call bs when I see it…

I don’t know if he was or not…I’m def a person who wants to flush things out…he may or not be serious…it’s been a whole…12 hours since his kid was released…we’ll see…

    • prado4587

Maybe he thought Nobama’s starting of the Afghan war then losing sight of the mission there as he started another war in Iraq unnecessarily jaded people there against the U.S.?

      • Nizzemancer

So Obama started the war? uh huh….

    • Joe Smith

First, seeing the good is called angel’s advocate. Second, I believe Obama is very discriminating in his choice of people to help, and his whole inner circle shows that he knows an Islamist sympathizer when he sees one.

      • BitemeDC

lol…oh ok…”angels advocate”….I’ve been a bad, bad girl…spare me. No wonder the left make ez targets of the right…

And, it’s a given that Obama is a political operative…

    • Jake Bradford

That seems a bit of a stretch.
The likeliest answer is usually true. Just as, convincing people they have been fooled is MUCH harder than actually fooling them

      • Deborah Hallsted

        Occam’s Razor.

  • Timothy Stone

I’m not surprised to see this, because I think his son is just as radical
as he is. Therefore, I also won’t be surprised to see Sergeant Bergdahl
in a prison soon, or at least under investigation. Assuming Afghanistan
is at all like Iraq, you can not just “walk off” base. NO ONE does so by
him- or herself. No one, at least not officially and legally.

And the “lost during a patrol” part doesn’t hold water either. As an
NCO, he would have his own group of E-4’s and below to monitor, as he is
himself answerable to higher ranks, that would notice his going
missing. It would have been reported immediately.

I won’t say anything more specific due to OPSEC concerns, but this guy is fishy. Trust me on that.

  • praymorenow1

I am happy for this young soldier, who was indeed forgotten by the president & nation…and the MEDIA….that decided NOT to present the story for years…..why would that be?
However, if we do not negotiate w/ terrorists, why did we just negotiate w/ terrorists?

    • Misanthrope

The more interesting question is why Obama and his media are presenting the story now.

      • lonestar

And why obama went to visit the troops in Afghanistan just last week! Wonder who else he was visiting.

  • James A. Lonon

…….Just suppose, the father and son worked a plan to get son in Army, volunteer for Afghanistan duty…..desert to enemy by prearranged plan and be taken “hostage” in hopes of a “prisoner swap” brokered by a President who shared their objective.? The “swap” went behind congress and military which leads me to believe this administration had an agenda which had nothing to do with said “hostage”.

    • Nizzemancer

riiiight, obama became president to release 5 prisoners…

      • Julescat

the same obama who was educated in a madrassa?

  • Joe Smith

Remember how Democrats reacted when Reagan negotiated for the release of hostages with Iranian terrorists and didn’t tell Congress about it??
They demanded an independent prosecutor, set up a select committee, and tried to get him impeached. I’m so sick of these hypocrites.

  • All_American

That last tweet was right God save us from our leaders because surely no one will.

  • lisalake
  • sarainitaly

“We spoke against a rescue attempt in Aug 2009, we have always stood against a rescue attempt, we remain against a rescue attempt.”

Because he preferred Gitmo terrorists be released? Reading his timeline, sure seems that way.

Combined with the story about his son walking off…

“Bergdahl, an Army infantryman assigned to a unit from Alaska, was taken captive after walking off his base in the eastern province of Paktika, a decision that confounded his comrades and commanders in Afghanistan. The U.S. military launched a massive manhunt, fearing it would be nearly impossible to find him if his captors smuggled him into Pakistan. The Taliban soon took credit for capturing him and offered to release him in exchange for $1 million and 21 Afghan prisoners.”

yipes! sure sounds fishy to me.

  • LimpingHenry

Why would a father oppose attempts to rescue his son? Fear?

  • disqus_Rj4GJtu4Gg

Now we know why Obama embraced this family and their cause. It suited him.

Hmm, perhaps if Andrew Tahmooressi’s family made noises about wanting every Gitmo prisoner freed (or supported his immigration plan, for that matter), Obama might actually get around to do something about Andrew’s current situation.

  • irishgirl91

I will half jokingly say that I would be horrified to have my parent’s political views be a reflection of mine, but this is terrifying. I sincerely hope he was just saying what he believed his son’s captors wanted to hear. I have wanted Bergdahl home for so long, but I do not like the way this happened, soldiers and airman are in more danger today than they ever were before.

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Obviously none of what’s going on here passes any kind of a sniff-test. Ignoble motives abound all over the place for why this one did this, that one did that, etc, etc. One is simply moved to say “Plague on all houses” and just hope this is an end to it. Whether Bergdahl returns to a “hero’s” welcome, or to face Leavenworth, will depend on how willing we are to ascertain the facts. Something tells me we really have no stomach to do so. You can only say, “Insh’Allah, these freed Talibans will kill no Americans, and will become marginalized in their own land for the fear of their having aided and comforted their enemy.”

    • keyboard jockey

There is a high recidivism rate among the Gitmo detainees. But there is also this comfort, they also have a higher than average mortality rate 😉

  • grumpyhillbilly

Well try to look on the bright side, the Taliban will reestablish itself and snuff at the poppy production. Should make heroine more expensive. Just doesn’t help our troops anywhere. The logic will be if you don’t kill them, kidnap them. As for the father, he is likely playing the fool for the administration. No doubt his returning son will enlighten him on how peachy his incarceration was.

    • taconite

The apple does not fall far from the tree. And how his son was captured has been officially quite vague, There have been unofficial reports that that cast a less than positive light, though.

    • Nyota Uhura

Actually, Sgt. Bergdahl DID paint a peachy picture of his incarceration, AND his captors —

  • smogdew

Imagine this young man, who JOINED the military will be so proud of

Just because he has a long beard doesn’t mean he thinks like Phil Robertson either.

  • Nyota Uhura

Evidently, Sgt. Bergdahl was “ashamed to be an American” —

Edited to add his father’s YouTube channel —

    • keyboard jockey

I am not surprised to find out there are hippies living in Idaho, but why did his son join the US Army if he was such a sensitive pacifist in the first place? Defies logic doesn’t it?

      • Nyota Uhura

Excellent point. Maybe he was one of those types that join for the benefits, never “expecting” to actually have to fight.

        • keyboard jockey

His communication “emails” prior to his going walk about in Afghanistan come off as immature – I suspect he paid for that lack of maturity, and has grown up a lot while being a prisoner of terrorist. Perhaps when he re learns the English language he can share with his father what wonderful people the terrorist are who held him captive for 5 years.

          • Nyota Uhura

Check out the link I posted in response to grumpyhillbilly below. In case of glitchitude, here it is again —

          • keyboard jockey

The reporting is he’s having difficulty communicating in English. I am going to wait to read or hear his statement’s when he’s capable – now that he’s not being held by terrorist. I don’t doubt being held a prisoner by terrorist that he or his family wouldn’t do anything to give the terrorist any excuse to harm him.

The Haqqani network of terrorist are known for being especially vicious that’s why his purported communication during captivity as if he’s being treated as a guest by the terrorist doesn’t ring true – the whole account reads like Taliban propaganda. All anyone has to do is Google “haqqani network terrorist” for themselves to read the truth of this themselves.

          • Ilpalazzo

Oh, Islam propaganda is the weirdest, isn’t it? Go to every now and then and see the ‘new converts’. They had one of those European critics who who was very anti-Islam on there as a ‘happy convert’ even though he looked miserable in the picture. It then followed that he was return back to his European nation to run for office. This is what is going on. It’s Ottoman Redux, and unfortunately we’re going to have to prepare for a 21st century Spanish Inquisition Redux to pull the ticks out of society when it becomes too late.

  • keyboard jockey

The purpose of his release is simple – this is signaling we -the US are leaving Afghanistan. This helps the democrat’s keep a promise of ending two wars in time for the 2014 mid term elections.

As far as who we have traded him for – I certainly hope we low jack their a$$es and follow them back to their club house when they are released – after all what else are armed drones good for?

His father is a white Muslim with weird left wing leanings. Where have we heard this before? Clearly the son is/was a left-wing nut that joined the Army. Look at the weird demented website the father runs.

  • StonedAngel

The father looks like he’s lost his bearing in all this. Physical looks resemble the Taliban.. working to release Islamic enemies…
It looks like Senior has crafted himself some kind of f’d up ideology to wrap his life around as he slowly lost his marbles over his son.
I’m happy his son is free… but at what cost.
But I guess King Obama thinks he can control the world and the world shouldn’t worry.
I pray for Obama’s impeachment every day.

  • Kat Marks Mackenzie

Saw on tv the kid was a deserter didn’t like American policy so he walked out from the camp and got captured. In the mean time we have a decorated marine suffering in a mexican jail and this moron in the white house is doing nothing to help.

  • Rachel

This sure sounds like an episode out of Homeland.

    • keyboard jockey

When he’s debriefed he may hold a wealth of intelligence about the haqqani network and how they operate.

He can write about in his memoir ” An Accidental Reconnaissance”

      • Rachel

Hopefully so. I hate to get my head so wrapped around Homeland, but what if he was “turned” while he was there? Sgt. Brody was turned and didn’t really release much info on Abu Nazir during the briefing because of it. But this is just me playing a “what if”. Hoping for the best, though.

        • keyboard jockey

Our intelligence agency’s are pretty good at interrogation, and debriefing. Remember his status was AWOL. No one came on base and kidnapped him. He’s got lot’s of splainin to do.

        • Brian S

He was turned BEFORE he was “held prisoner”! He deserted to join them and many other soldiers were killed while trying to get him back.

          • Rachel

Didn’t catch that til I did a re-read. This is really, really turning out weird…

    • Utopia Can Never be Achieved

You are correct on that one. Awfully eerie. Can’t wait for Homeland season #3 to hit video though.

  • versionthirteen

These prisoners should have been executed when they were captured – they were not enemy combatants, but ideological terrorists.Summary executions after a brief trial as with NAZI’s should have occurred instead of imprisonment. “Taliban”, “al Qaeda” aren’t countries beholden to international laws, but mere cells and branches of a “religion” infected with ideological rabies. Bergdahl senior appears to have caught the infection. Obama again working against civilization, America and our Armed Forces. Great job Democrats. Are all of you too insanely code pink to police your own? What a nest of vile serpents you’ve become.

    • keyboard jockey

I don’t think they are mere “cells” I think they are state sponsored they are simply a “proxy” army. There is an old war going on between Sunni’s and Shiite’s. By attacking the US on 9-11 they drew us into that old war.

What happened after 9-11? We took out the Sunni strongman in Iraq “Saddam” who benefited? Answer: The Shiite in Iran. Who’s power was checked? Saudi Arabia “Sunni” exporting fundamental Wahhabism.

  • Jimni27

Iowahawk just tweeted this: Something is definitely not right here. You could tell something was off with the dad too. There are also some statements the dad made in the RS article about his own son that corroborate this account.

    • conservativechick

I agree. All the “timing” in this case is suspicious, as well.

      • Jimni27

I tweeted that last night too. The only reason this kid is free now is because of the VA scandal. Obama’s own party is starting to turn on him and has to get his poll numbers back up. Honestly I hate that I’m this cynical about the president, but he’s way too obvious.

  • winoceros

Certified Muslim and Islamist sympathizer. Everything is the West’s fault, all Muslim violence due to non-Muslim interference. That’s the gist of his TL. Like every other Islamist. Sickening. Of all citizens MIA, this is what Obama picks to stick our collective necks out for? Muslim lover first. No other reason to choose this guy.

    • keyboard jockey

Look at the upside – he’s going to apply for VA benefits/

    • Jake Bradford

I would wager that the Bergdahl’s and Obama are virtually in sync on what they really believe.

  • David Johnson

The guy was Deserting his post he says to go to Pakistan. Or was he trying to join the Taliban? All other US Soldiers captured were executed while he was held for 5 years.

  • Nyota Uhura

Michelle Malkin is on it — — see especially reports from soldiers who were actually there at the time.

    • keyboard jockey

It all reads like he was extremely immature.

      • Nyota Uhura

Could definitely explain his behavior. But he’s a soldier, and may have to face serious consequences. It’s not like he wasn’t trained, over and over, on how to put his unit, and the Army, before himself.

        • keyboard jockey

Absolutely he’s still a soldier, and he was 26 years old at the time so not even a teenager. Solider’s died trying to rescue him. They searched for him – that took people, time and resources, and as we have read 5 terrorist released from incarceration for his release, no doubt they will return to the battlefield.

          • Nyota Uhura

Yep. It’s common knowledge that at least 100 released Gitmo detainees have gotten right back in the racket.

  • JonEdHil

Have yet to find independent, non-partisan confirmation of the veracity of this tweet. Not saying he DIDN’T tweet it OKAY? Just haven’t found it anywhere but “fringe” sites. Was his account hacked? Is this really HIS account? I’m gonna do the “wait-and-see” thing.

    • Liberal Soup N Crackers

Why would you accuse this site of being a fringe site? Are you a Taliban Democrat sympathizer too?

      • JonEdHil

Not sure. I’ll have to check it out further. However, the respondents are definitely overwhelmingly fringe, and only fringe sites have repeated it. Love the “Taliban Democrat sympathizer jab”, btw. Original.

  • Misanthrope

Doesn’t anyone else find it odd the Taliban kept this guy alive instead of beheading him as an infidel?

    • AirForceMomJo

Yes. They do not take prisoners and take care of them for 5 years without a reason.

    • Squirrel!

I wondered about that, and the more I find out I am wondering if he was getting some extensive training with the Taliban during this past 5 years. What say you?

    • lars1701c

I have a feeling that he joined the taliban in hopes of fighting the Americans but they might have turned against him or he could be a willing participant

  • CO2 Producer

I wonder if they’ll put that part in the movie adaptation.

  • vrajavala1

Its interesting that Obama has these trump cards to play when he’s in hot water. and there’s no doubt he broke the law by not informing Congress 30 days in advance.

  • Jimmy Andrew

hey michele malkin, they are now saying our troops rescued him, why trade if we rescued his ass ???

    • Jimmy Andrew

      sorry, michelle !!

  • reddarin

The father ends that tweet with “ameen” to indicate he is an Islamist.

  • FreedomFighter

Has anyone thought maybe the father didnt delete that tweet?? Just throwing that out there.

So my initial feelings that upon seeing and hearing Bergdahl’s father yesterday that he might be a filthy hippie have been confirmed.

Looks like a Taliban acts like a Taliban IS a Taliban. I’m sworn to protect all enemies foreign and domestic. This one should head over there where he belongs. I will buy him a one way ticket.

    • tedlv

Why would you be “sworn to protect all enemies foreign and domestic”?

  • FlatFoot

I fully expect “Preezy of the United Steezy” Barack Hussein Obama to have a White House ceremony where he gives the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the Muslim convert deserter, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, with the head-traitor himself, John Kerry, giving a follow-up speech about Bravery, Honor, Patriotism and Love of Country.

    • Nyota Uhura

Sadly, I agree with you. P.S. Love your “Preezy/Steezy” 😉

      • FlatFoot

Preezy of the United Steezy is a real thing. Not mine.
It really happened. On national TV. Talking-heads swooned.

        • Nyota Uhura

          Oh, jeeze — too much!!

  • Nyota Uhura

Here’s an eyewitness account of Bergdahl’s “capture” that I copy-pasted from the Army Times comment section (edited to add paragraphs, otherwise intact):

Dan Witmer · Top Commenter · Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

You want it from the horses mouth?? Here ya go..

We were at OP Mest, Paktika Province, Afghanistan. It was a small outpost where B Co 1-501st INF (Airbone) ran operations out of, just an Infantry platoon and ANA counterparts there. The place was an Afghan graveyard. Bergdahl had been acting a little strange, telling people he wanted to “walk the earth” and kept a little journal talking about how he was meant for better things. No one thought anything about it. He was a little “out there”. Next morning he’s gone.

We search everywhere, and can’t find him. He left his weapon, his kit, and other sensitive items. He only took some water, a compass and a knife.

We find some afghan kids shortly after who saw an american walking north asking about where the taliban are. We get hits on our voice intercepter that Taliban has him, and we were close. We come to realize that the kid deserted his post, snuck out of camp and sought out Taliban… to join them.

We were in a defensive position at OP Mest, where your focus is to keep people out. He knew where the blind spots were to slip out and that’s what he did. It was supposed to be a 4-day mission but turned into several months of active searching. Everyone was spun up to find this guy. News outlets all over the country were putting out false information.

It was hard to see, especially when we knew the truth about what happened and we lost good men trying to find him. PFC Matthew Michael Martinek, Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss, SSG Clayton Bowen, PFC Morris Walker, SSG Michael Murphrey, 2LT Darryn Andrews, were all KIA from our unit who died looking for Bergdahl. Many others from various units were wounded or killed while actively looking for Bergdahl. Fighting Increased. IEDs and enemy ambushes increased.

The Taliban knew that we were looking for him in high numbers and our movements were predictable. Because of Bergdahl, more men were out in danger, and more attacks on friendly camps and positions were conducted while we were out looking for him. His actions impacted the region more than anyone wants to admit. There is also no way to know what he told the Taliban: Our movements, locations, tactics, weak points on vehicles and other things for the enemy to exploit are just a few possibilities.

The Government knows full well that he deserted. It looks bad and is a good propaganda piece for the Taliban. They refuse to acknowledge it. Hell they even promoted him to Sergeant which makes me sick. I feel for his family who only want their son/brother back. They don’t know the truth, or refuse to acknowledge it as well. What he did affected his family and his whole town back home, who don’t know the truth. Either way what matters is that good men died because of him.

He has been lying on all those Taliban videos about everything since his “capture”. If he ever returns, he should be tried under the UCMJ for being a deserter and judged for what he did. Bergdahl is not a hero, he is not a soldier or an Infantryman. He failed his brothers. Now, sons and daughters are growing up without their fathers who died for him and he will have to face that truth someday.

Now that Bowe is back on American soil, lock him and his father up until the truth is known about the entire episode, starting with how Bowe ended up as a POW. The charge should be treason, and I believe that is enough to hold both of them indefinitely.

I would also have made the deal – BUT, I would send the five Taliban prisoners back cut into little pieces and packed in pig fat, and I would have killed the Taliban who delivered Bergdahl with a drone strike as they left. Then I would send Bergdahl straight to Gitmo for questioning. Oh, and I would put the FBI on old dad there to find out if he could be charged for aiding the enemy. As for the families of the troops who were killed searching for this traitor, I would make sure they and their children got a front row seat at Bergdahl’s hanging after we were done with him at Gitmo.

      • AZWarrior

I can’t. As a retired military officer I won’t lie, cheat or steal, or tolerate those who do. So as you can see, I am totally unqualified.

        • Teletwang101

That’s true. You’re what we call in the civilian world “under-qualified” but on the bright side, you could check out a few nazi books and hang out with some terrorists… better yet, shadow Obama for a day. I bet you could learn how lie and cheat!!
But on a serious note, the POTUS really needs to have some trigger time if he is to command the entire military. IMHO

          • AZWarrior

Good advice, but I am afraid I am just too old a dog to be learning those particular new tricks. I can’t see POTUS being accepted into our military. Remember, you have to show the recruiter a valid Birth Certificate AND a valid Social Security number. :-)

Oh, they reached clown level five years ago. Obama is clearly incapable of running a lemonade stand.

It’s strictly Marxist and Saul Alinsky here on out – for as long as it lasts.

      • Better_Call_Saul34

The story gets shadier and shadier by the minute, but I bet the Obama Admin. is going to get away with it and hide more about it…without anyone being able to do one thing about it. Picture Obama…”So he dropped his weapons, left his platoon and his post behind? Then…6 brave souls died trying to find him? Wait…and his dad is tweeting about Afghan babies being killed? Ok…release the Dream Team from the Taliban and free this guy right away. Oh and forget about Congress….just do it. Now Monday…we force Cap and Trade down their throats with the EPA. Maybe the young Bergdahl will begin a fast-track career in Counter-Terrorism at the Pentagon or maybe even the White House. Progressives like a young man who shows initiative; aiding and abetting the enemy while in uniform.

Sadly true. Maybe Obama will employ “AWOL Bergdahl” as his new press secretary since Comrade Carney slithered away.

There are so any red fags flying here, it is hard to know which is the most alarming. The story just doesn’t track. And that father is just weird. They use those children as weapons, they are the ones who will pay for dead Afghani children. They place no value on them or the women.

  • MumuBobby

The father would prefer that the Afghan people live under the boot of the Taliban. I think he needs to wear a burqua for a few months to see how it is before he trashes the US involvement in Afghanistan.

This is really odd but i just wish US citizens could trust our administration is doing what’s best for the country and the media is reporting the truth. But I expect not.

Sadly those days are gone and this will just be heaped upon a stinking mound we call the Obama legacy.

That scumbag and Obama are on the same page.

I’m guessing what happened is his son was taken and forcefully converted to Islam and therefore used as an extension of conversion of his family in a blackmail manner. This is what Islam does every day (and the only reason behind the ‘fastest growing religion’ because it relies heavily on blackmail and threat of death) and now that they are forcefully converted, they cannot renounce Islam for threat of death

I’m guessing that since Bergdahl, willing walked off base, knowing that he would likely be captured and held hostage by the taliban, that he was a willing participant, that is already an islamist, or an islamist sympathizer.

If the father is an example of the son, then, there is likely no conversion forced on Bergdahl, as he was and is a willing participant.

That does not make Bergdahl a hero, but a traitor.

      • Ilpalazzo

That’s probable too. Either way, it’s pretty damn suspicious.

the son will be an emotional wreck for years to come, if he ever recovers at all. My concern is that after having lived for 5 years with these murderers and now in the presence of an “enabler” father, will he possibly take up “jihad” and commit a crime(s)? Talk about a Manchurian candidate…..

    Afghanistan Betrayal

During the run-up to the 70th anniversary of D-Day on June
6th, Americans are rightfully reflecting upon the courage and sacrifice of
participants in the Allied invasion force that spelled the end for Nazi dreams
of World domination. Several of my VMI classmates are currently touring Normandy, walking the beaches, and visiting the cemeteries filed with Allied dead from all over the world. They have shared their experiences in astonishing and moving photos and comments.

Meanwhile, please don’t overlook the names of these soldiers
who were also killed-in-action: PFC Aaron Fairbairn, PFC Justin Casillas, SSG
Kurt Curtiss (shot in the face and killed), 2LT Darryn Andrews, PFC Matthew
Martinek, (died of combat wounds a week later), SSG Michael Murphrey (stepped
on an improvised land mine and died the next day).

You might ask, who are these guys? These are just six of our
service members who likely died as a direct result of PFC Bowe Bergdahl’s
desertion. As soon as he went missing, the US Army deployed every asset it
could marshal to scouring remote (and dangerous) Afghan hamlets and villages in
a futile attempt to retrieve Bergdahl.

In so doing, innumerable members of the American military were exposed to enemy attack, resulting in death and dismemberment. In addition, other service members not charged with Bergdahl’s recovery were deprived of close air support and other redeployed assets that probably resulted in additional unnecessary death and dismemberment.

As for Bergdahl, court martial him, reduce him in rank (from the sergeant’s stripes he never earned), and give him the dishonorable discharge he so richly deserves. I don’t care about incarcerating him. Just send him back to the ignoble obscurity he earned.

Meanwhile, here’s the latest on Bergdahl, excerpted from a piece in the 2 June 2014 edition of the “Daily Beast.” (For the full story, here’s the link:

Nathan Bradley Bethea, an infantry officer in the US Army
2007 – 2014, who was in deployed in Afghanistan in 2009 with the 501st
Parachute Infantry Regiment (501 PIR), wrote, and I quote:

“For five years, soldiers have been forced to remain silent
about the disappearance and search for Bergdahl. Now we can talk about what
    really happened.

It was 30 June 2009, and I was in the city of Sharana, the capitol of Paktika Province in Afghanistan. As I stepped out of a decrepit office building into a perfect sunny day, a member of my team started talking into his radio. “Say that again,” he said. “There’s an American soldier missing?”

There was. His name was Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl, the only prisoner of war in the Afghan theater of operations. His release from Taliban custody on 31 May marks the end of a nearly five-year-old story for the soldiers of his unit, the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment. I served in the same battalion in Afghanistan, and participated in the attempts to retrieve him throughout the summer of 2009.

After we redeployed, every member of my brigade combat team received an order that we were not allowed to discuss what happened to Bergdahl for fear of endangering him. He is safe, and now it is time to speak the truth.

And that truth is: Bergdahl is a deserter, and soldiers from his own unit died trying to track him down.

On the night prior to his capture, Bergdahl pulled guard duty at Outpost Mest, about two hours south of the provincial capital.

The next morning, Bergdahl failed to show for morning roll call. The soldiers in 2nd Platoon, Blackfoot Company discovered his rifle, helmet, body armor, and web gear in a neat stack.

Make no mistake: Bergdahl did not “lag behind on a patrol,” as was cited in news reports at the time. There was no patrol that night. Bergdahl was relieved from guard duty, and instead of going to sleep, he fled the outpost on foot. He deserted. I’ve talked to members of Bergdahl’s platoon—including the last Americans to see him before his capture. I’ve reviewed the relevant documents. That’s what happened.”

While a majority’s opinion may tell us what some people desire on a particular occasion, it cannot tell us what those very same people would choose if they were more educated.
