From the moment Malaysia Airlines flight 370 disappeared, CNN has gone to absurd lengths to provide coverage.

All of the coverage of the missing plane has led to some frustration with the media, and of course CNN was on that story:

Do you think they’re aware that … never mind.

This. Is CNN.

  • FreedomRecon

I think the “Oy” tweet summed it up nicely.

    • conservachick

well obviously the families are frustrated by the OTHER media coverage, not cnns,

    • garygramscom

Too bad they dont have a call in show, we could call in to see if Leland Yee was on the plane…

      • Mark_Melrose

They (CNN) could have a show about the rampant corruption in politics today, and the lousy job the media is doing as watchdog. Call it, “In Plain Sight.”

    • H50 ✓RAT

And even if we had, its a local story.

  • PistolsForPandas

I’m reminded of this Onion article from 2000. They’ve had this problem for awhile, but now it’s really bad.

Ever since little Elián went back to Cuba on June 28, we’ve been working overtime to get through all the news we bumped during that gripping, emotional saga,” CNN vice-president Susan Bunda said. “There are all sorts of stockpiled stories to report, and we feel the American public will find much of it interesting, informative, and even a bit surprising, considering all of it happened three months ago or more.”

Among the backlogged stories to air during recent CNN “News You Didn’t Hear” coverage: the formation of the new Eastern European nation of Molbania last December, the French government’s Feb. 9 decision to sell the Mona Lisa in private auction and the painting’s subsequent purchase by Ted Turner, the discovery of mysterious carnivorous plant spores in southern Missouri in early April, and the June 4 congressional vote to grant federal legislators a 400 percent pay hike.

Other months-old developments which may come as a surprise to CNN viewers include January’s Russian rickets epidemic, which left half the nation with the disease; the surprise April 22 eruption of a volcano in a remote section of South Dakota; and the sudden disappearance of the star Alpha Centauri, the sun’s closest stellar neighbor, which collapsed into a black hole in late May.

Let me put this question out there for you who have been in airports this month: has CNN been doing this wall to wall coverage on the missing airplane on the airport monitors? It seems to me that would be a foolish thing to do in such a setting, but then again, CNN does some mighty foolish things.

    • H50 ✓RAT

Im guessing yes they are still on in the airports, cause the airport liquor sales have tripled.
The flight attendants union is mighty pissed tho.

    • Porty1119

I passed through Dulles a few weeks ago.
The answer is yes. Yes, they are.

  • NixTyranny

This CNN anchor’s hair looks like she’s been swimming in the Indian Ocean looking for the plane herself.

    • Mary Mommy Happy 2016!

Well actually, she was more of looking for evidence of the existence of the black hole that took Malaysia Airlines flight 370.

      • NixTyranny

Judging from their ratings, CNN discovered the existence of the black hole long ago.

        • Mary Mommy Happy 2016!

          Ba-zing, isn’t that the truth. :)

    • Hank_Scorpio

She’s one of the aliens that took the plane….

They have to do something to fill the time so they don’t have to cover the news.

  • MrNewCastrati

Since only people at airports watch CNN, it’s appropriate that they do missing airliner news 24/7.

  • WordsOfWisdom82

This is the kind of coverage the IRS targeting people for their political beliefs should have received.

  • ClinkinKY

If the plane is ever found they might have to start reporting actual news. You know, all the Democrats arrested lately and that sort of thing:)

    • Spiny Norman

      Wait… what???

Oh, I get it. Sarcasm, sometimes it can be subtle.

      • Porty1119

Well, Leland Yee (CA Dem) was arrested for helping funnel rifles and MANPADS to Philippine Muslim terrorists…

        • Spiny Norman

I’m well aware of that, as well as the 2 other CA Dems arrested on corruption charges – and the fact that the MSM has ignored all of it. Perhaps you didn’t catch the sarcasm in my comment.

    • Zach Smith

They will just go back to reporting how wonderful Emperor Obama is.

    • H50 ✓RAT

Nahhhhh, theyve been gathering/holding non-stories in preparation for that moment.

  • Jack Deth

    A blast from the past.

The sound of running feet on wood. Then marble floors.

The sound of a door opening and a daughter’s (Young Caroline Kennedy) voice:

“Daddy. It’s the Malayan Ambassador for dinner!”

The sound of officious papers being lowered to a oaken desk followed by wise and mature (Vaughan Meader as JFK).

    “Tell him. It’s tomorrow night!”

*With apologies to The First Family album*

    • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Lenny Bruce is scheduled to perform on the night of 11/22/63– he’s initially reluctant, thinking, how many people are actually going to show up? The club owner tells him people are here to forget about what’s just happened, and take their minds off it with some comedy: “Yeah, I know, Len, but there’s a lotta people out there, strangely enough. Don’t let ’em down. By the way, you don’t get paid if you don’t go on” (which made Bruce’s mind up).

Lenny Bruce walks out on stage, there’s a feeling of tension in the room waiting to see what he’s going to say to open the show; Lenny gives them the following observation:

“Vaughn Meader is SO phucqued now…”

And as they say in the comedy biz, he killed…

  • Debbie

Anderson Cooper 360? Nope…. Anderson Cooper 370! lol

    • Kakarot

I thought for a second that was real.

    • Disturbed12

During the interview the auto pilot starts losing air, like in the movie Airplane. Thankfully, Anderson is right there to “blow” him back up!!!

  • Kakarot

So CNN is covering the fact that the MH370 families are frustrated by the non-stop coverage of MH370.

Which I guess means this is meta-coverage. (nested coverage?)

  • Maxx

If that plane had vanished off the radar near Benghazi, there would have been two disappearances. The plane and CNN’s coverage of it.

SNL just did their 4,000th skit mocking FOX News this past week. Apparently they don’t watch CNN or their own NBC owned cable news channel MSNBC, can’t say that I blame them.

        Sorry vapid twits.

When has the media ever, even when the irony is thick and smelly enough to see been self-aware.

  • AT

Wait, a plane disappeared? I hadn’t heard that a million times.

  • Al’s Annoyed Grandpa

CNN covering this tragedy is a lot like Dear Leader giving the State of the Union address. He talks a lot but says nothing.

  • walterc

“And our top story this hour, Malaysian Flight 370 is still missing and here at CNN we’re pingless as to what to cover next”.

  • Mark_Melrose

Candy Crowley ate the plane. That was easy.

    • arttie

I was going to say she thought it was a suppository.

  • TJ

People got to the family that planed the seed that the the people might still be alive somewhere. Both the media and the officials are dancing around the word “crashed” even a month after it disappeared as it might upset and has upset the families. Never heard of any other airplane that by all accounts was lost as sea
that the family did not believe the plane was lost at sea until they
lift up the fuselage from the sea floor years later.

  • Nonameworks

Anything to not mention Leland Yee.

  • Short Bus

To paraphrase Coach Ditka: “Hey CNN- who ya crappin’?”

  • dml248

CNN, like much of the MSM was desperate to get anything to do getting Obamacare out of the headlines. The more flight 370 was in the news the less time the network had to give to bad news on the Obamacare failure.

Going MH370 all the time and overtime was CNN’s solution.

  • Paul C.

That’s the only thing keeping them afloat!!

  • j p✓ʳᵉᶠʳᶦᵉᵈ

I can only imagine what news they are not covering because they are 24/7 on 370. It is like hyping the unfolding drama of paint drying. I didn’t get to bed until after midnight last night because they promised a critical news conference was pending. The startling revelation was that they think they may have heard a ping that could be from the plane and it narrowed the search from a needle in a hundred haystacks to a needle in ten haystacks.

  • seal76

Unless your family was directly involved it the flight 370 disaster why should you care?

    • Major

Because they are Human Beings and we’ve been told to Love one Another as we Love Ourselves.

      • seal76

I care but like all of the news we see today they overdo it. TMI. I feel bad for them but there is not a thing I can do for them and hearing about it on a daily basis(several times a day) won’t enable me to help.

  • captaingrumpy

Who is that thing on MSNBC ?????
She would make me angry every day.

  • Tish

CNN could do a year long coverage of the lies and corruption coming from the White House on down and of course the media’s demise as watchdog for We The People..Can you just imagine ?

  • Plow Comms

Although beneficial accidents are rare, we can prepare for the opportunities they unveil by sharpening our own skills, learning from others’ experience, and gathering the courage to take new chances.
