J.C. Penney got some people talking after publishing these tweets about the Super Bowl:

Pizza Hut and Doritos thought they needed some food:

Kia offered a ride:

Others weren’t quite sure what was going on:

As it turned out, J.C. Penney knew exactly what they were doing:

We see what you did there, J.C. Penney.

Pizza Hut, Doritos, and Kia for the win.

And Twitchy completely missed Snickers’ tweet: https://twitter.com/SNICKERS/status/430137406843392000

Love Pizza Hut, Doritos and Kia getting in there.

Everyone got in on the act. Way to go!

    • waltzingmtilda

Yea, I thought that was really cute.

      • H50 ✓RAT

It really pretty brilliant when you think about it. With all the butt tweets etc, every time a tweet like that goes out there is a lot of speculation. The other companies are getting tweet savvy and jumping on was fun.

I wonder if it was planned or spontaneous? Either way, they had me LOLing.

When is Kea’li’i Reichel going to sing at the Superbowl, complete with his choreographed Hula, performed to one of his excellent songs?

      Maui no ka oi!

    • William2010

This Merry Monarch Festival, 2005 performance by Hula Halau O Kamuela – Wahine ‘Auana, includes Kea’li’i Reichel singing a medley of his songs, live, during the performance. Hula Halau O Kamuela won that competition that year. I am certain this is the winning performance.

I’d like to see something like this, and, perhaps a great Latin orchestra, such as Tito Puente y Su Orchestra was when he was still alive, perform at the Superbowl, the Grammys, somewhere so people can enjoy them, and enjoy a different, high quality music from the standard fare.

I would absolutely love to see something like this at the Super Bowl!
I wasnt aware that anyone outside of Island folk were aware of the Merrie Monarch Festival, the world comes to a grinding halt around here when its on in the spring. You can hear a pin drop in our town when its on.
Kea’li’i has ceded his hulau to another kuma hula so Im not sure how involved he is with it anymore. I dont want to start any rumors out of school, but I saw him a while back at Costco and he looked a little haggard. He might just be taking a sabbatical to get his spirit aligned again. Its hard to imagine that he would step away from it completely.
He does a song that pays homage to the spirits of the past that is interspersed with chants that just gives me chicken skin.

Anyone wearing mittens in current conditions in East Rutherford must be from a fair-weather city like Seattle or Denver….

    • grais

46 degrees here. Maybe the mittens were the best excuse they could think of.
      ; )
      Funny stuff either way.

  • GhostntheMachine

    Omaha, OmaGawd!

  • Green Eggs And Ted

Even if they were tweeting with mittens, what stopped them from proofreading their tweets?

    • RblDiver

Seeing that mittens one, I think the misspelling’s the point and intentional. Dumb, but we got great responses from other companies!

  • Pat_Battle

    Hey @jcpenney. Try these next time: http://t.co/Hu5s2T3fCE— Kohl's (@Kohls) February 3, 2014

  • William2010

Did anyone reading these comments hear the Classical Vocalist, Renee Fleming, supported by the US Military, sing the Star Spangled Banner before the Superbowl game yesterday?

    I enjoyed it.

      Ah Choo

  • Red Menace

Still no edit button on Twitter? What are we still in 2012?

    • SineWaveII

The edit button appears after you post

I guess I ain’t caught up with all this new technology.

Another chapter for the “How to Win At Social Media” book.

Stuffy, boring tweets about products get you nothing! It’s the light-hearted, good-natured ribbing that people remember.

    • SineWaveII

That’s why the funny commercials are the best ones.

  • SineWaveII

    “Tweeting with Mittens”
What JC Penney was watching the Super Bowl with Mitt Romney? He sure does get around doesn’t he?

  • Always Vigilant

Since people tend to wish that challenges be dealt with in a visible structured manner, centralized planning and control can be appealing.
