editor-at-large Joan Walsh helped provide a much clearer picture of what 2016 will look like:

Who knows what will come of this, but the “selective accountability” is a thing to behold.

Maybe Gov. Christie could borrow some strategy from his good pal:

Good idea.

Would Walsh say that Benghazi means Hillary’s chances in 2016 are “toast”?

  • WisconsinPatriot

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Governor just read this in the newspaper “just like the rest of you”.

  • waltermitty2012

And yet, the staffers who assured Obama that was ready to go, go unnoticed by the left.

  • Clayton Grant

Oh Joan, don’t you realize that there are enough dishonest people to hate in the world already without your working so hard to give us another?

    • WhoMeToo

I don’t hate Walsh and her ilk…I have complete and utter indifference toward them. Sometimes it scares me…. Just kidding, it doesn’t…. (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      • Clayton Grant

I actually have complete ambivalence to their right to exist. I still like to rag on them though.

      • Al’s Not So Sad Grampa

I have more than enough hate; you can hate them by proxy through me.

        • WhoMeToo

Thanks GH! You’re a giver! XD

        • hatsylady

          You are beyond generous. Thanks.

      • Joseph Kurt

The genius of this comment is staggering.

      • hatsylady

I wish I didn’t hate them. It’s not good for the health. And I don’t want to risk getting sick with the new form of Hellthcare.

  • Frustrated Teacher

Self-awareness is JUST not the strength of the left when they start wagging their tongues about the flaws on the other side of the political aisle!

  • Tugger – ✓unamused

In response, Christie said, “can I have waffles instead?”

  • Republicanvet

I’m starting to wonder why the left is working overtime on this.

Christie would normally have been supported by them as the perfect Republican candidate in 2016, but they are already tearing him down.

Are they THAT desperate for a LOOK SQUIRREL so they can ignore Preezy Shamwow’s disasters?

    • CHHR

Try….Hilary…Cuomo… for starters… Dems always trump GOP

      • Republicanvet

I’m aware of that, but if you recall McCain, he was their favorite BFF up until he got the nomination.

        • CHHR

In 2012 it was Romney, today it’s Christie… see the pattern yet? BFF those you KNOW are easy to dismiss through negative adds & use that same time to convince an unwary public that the GOP just has no one of substance to run over their next “golden” child. It’s worked beautifully for several elections now.

    • Roto ✓Intentionally Left Blank

Re: “…the left is working overtime on this.” Yep, on CNN Wolf did about 2 hrs. on it, then Cooper kept going with it, and now Deadeye Piers has it on. The Dem.’s reeeeally think they have something here. I guess their blessing since the Christie/Obama Hurricane Sandy lovefest is over.

    • Acethepug

Why? Because it is reflex to the Left. Attack, attack, attack.
That they are attacking Christie for doing what Obama has been doing for years escapes them. I mean, it’s not like we have an honest media who has been calling the Chicago Thug-In-Chief out on any of his behavior.
The real problem is that they think everyone else is as stupid and dogmatic as they are — which is not the case.

  • Seriously? ✓

I believe in accountability. He was leading the pack. Making excuses is hypocrisy and is unbecoming. We can’t have it both ways. Sorry…just saying.

    • Republicanvet

I don’t disagree about accountability, but I think I would be safe in saying Walsh has never held Omugabe to the same standard…or to any standard.

      • hatsylady

Joan herself lacks standards so you can see why she can’t hold Obama to any.

    • MNWoman

Holding Christie accountable, or at least investigating this thoroughly, should be a given. I think what is making us so angry is even though this is a disturbing incident, it pales in comparison to what Obama is allowed to get away with.

    • Acethepug

But we DO have it both ways. See, Obama is excused for his behavior, so seeing a partisan hack like Joan feign concern over Christie is a bit galling.

Either the behavior is wrong, ALWAYS wrong, or it isn’t. The Left HAS no right (heh) to complain since they’ve embraced this sort of thing (petty vindictiveness and blaming staff) under Obama.

THAT is the concern. When I see “people” like Joan call Obama out on his thuggish behaviors and lies, maybe they can then pretend to be outraged when the Right does it.

Now, I do NOT condone what Christie did, but Obama set a national tone for this — why is it only wrong now? And I ask that of the people wringing their hands over Christie now, not of you — I agree with your point.

  • MNWoman

There are certainly some solid conservatives in NJ and I exclude them when I say we cannot hold NJ voters to too high of a standard. they willingly voted a guy who made up a friend named T-Bone to the U.S. Senate.

    • hatsylady

They’ve all left the state or are trying to. I did. I took 4 other family members with me.

  • CrustyB

Joan Walsh: “Racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist racist. Racist racist racist racist racist racist. And racism.”

That’s all I see or hear when someone from Salon talks.

    • MNWoman

Joan, what do you think of Corey Booker telling made up stories about his imaginary friend named T-Bone?

      Joan Walsh: “That’s racist!”

  • MNWoman

Between this thread and the Elijah Cummings thread, it is hard to determine which one of these leftists wins the award for most lacking of accountability.

    • WhoMeToo

Don’t they all get “awards”? ~_^

  • Maxx

Joan Walsh is only marginally more coherent than Cher, so it would be prudent to file her written mung in the entertainment section, if we had one. Meanwhile, has she stopped whining about her connecting flight yet?

  • Lamontyoubigdummy

If Christie really wants the presidency he’ll hold a press conference, look right into the camera, and say, “I’m outraged. I just found out about this when I saw it on tv.”

Troll the sh!t out’a the media.

I’d vote for him on that alone.

  • thedumbblonde

Well, she does, by her account, understand black people better than most. So she has that.

  • Michelle ✓classified

Isn’t it cute the way those on the Left believe they are the ones deciding who is and who is not in the mix for Republicans in 2016? Dear Joan – just last week your crew of mindless idiots announced Christie as the candidate and now you decide he’s toast. Hilarious. Even MORE hilarious is the fact that Democrats think they decide who wins the Republican primaries. Sit down and STFU.

    • Jake Bradford

Also hilarious: she uses a twitter pic that makes her look like she just committed 5 hatchet murders.

      • WhoMeToo

XD ==> “Joanie Walsh took an ax….”

  • Perry

Christie is a RINO, Conservatives don’t want him on the ticket. Still, this Leftist press is a joke.

  • Maxx

If only that bridge had led into Benghazi, where quickly, Joan Walsh would be commenting on how overblown and manufactured, this controversy is.

  • WhoMeToo
  • Scorpion

I thought he was toast after being a waffle.

  • TJ

Blame it on some low level guys in the Newark Office of the port authority.

  • Bklynnygirl

I’m sure Joan Walsh was just as concerned over our border agent Brian Terry and hundreds of Mexicans being killed by Obama’s DOJ Eric Holder from fast & furious.

  • YesterdayzNewz

Are we dumb enough to vote for anyone with an R, or a D, next to their name? I certainly hope not. They’re all in cahoots with each other.

  • Jake Bradford

Joan Walsh is the author of “What’s Wrong With White People?” and the answer to her own question…

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

Hey, don’t sell Salon short. Their offices are full of the answer to Walsh’s question.

  • Joshua Embrey

You “conservatives” are an embarrassment. This discussion is about Christie, not Obama. I loathe Obama, but you guys are acting like petulant liberals. I pray to God almighty Obama is slammed to his knees for what he has done, but this article and the comments section are not the appropriate forum. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

    • OingoBoingo

You are amusing Joshua…these individuals, conservative, libertarian, etc., are calling out the hypocrisy that other individuals, liberals, progressives, who a covered for Obama on bigger issues than this. The actions Obama and these progressives and liberals are all theirs. If they, Obama and the progressives and liberals, were not so so corrupt conservatives, libertarians, and others wouldn’t need to call them and point out their hypocrisy and corruption. You, Joshua, trying to deflect from that is amusing.

      • Joshua Embrey

Who was this article about? Christie. This type of childish garbage makes those commenting no more intelligent than liberals who blame 43 with impunity, even when the discussion is not about him. Lastly, it would behoove you to know I’m a conservative.

        • OingoBoingo

Logical fallacy. Correctly calling out blatant hypocrisy from individuals who spout propaganda and lies is not comparable to the many lies and deflection tactics used to blame Bush. As a matter of fact, many that are being called out are some of the one’s that lie about and deflect to Bush. I don’t care about your political leanings, but I do care about correctly calling out flawed logic. Hypocrisy from corrupt individuals who promote propaganda needs to be called out and exposed. But please continue to use logical fallacies and deflection. As I said – it is amusing.

        • tops116 ✓Quipper

“Lastly, it would behoove you to know I’m a conservative.”

Yet you act like a “petulant liberal” by whining about people expressing themselves.

And “behoove?” Aw, isn’t that precious? Joshua found a word-of-the-day calendar.

    • Patches O’Houlihan

Despite my own doubts, I won’t attempt to impune your proclaimed conservative nature. I will however, attempt to point you in the general direction of the argument that you have submitted: Your apparent argument is that as the article doesn’t reference the President directly and as such, he should not be brought into the argument; never mind the obvious hypocrisy in regards to the Presidents own “I didn’t know and I was unaware of that, etc… etc… ad nauseam excuses for any failure.” To juxtapose the President’s incompetence in comparison to similar situations, with other, (questionably) opposed political figures, would be a natural progression for even the simplest of minds, surely you can follow, yes?

That said, not a fan of Christie, much as I view yourself, I see him as yet another self proclaimed “conservative”, cut directly from the Graham / McCain mold… I detest the idea of defending Christie, but detest even more, the defending of that RINO, from a self proclaimed “conservative”, of the internet variety….

Duck your head, make your way to the door and avoid making direct eye contact with any actual conservatives on your way out.

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

In other words, “Stop expressing your opinion! What do you think this is? A free society?”

    • Acethepug

Right, because Obama’s Thugocracy did nothing to set a tone for this, and the media and Left being silent (if not outright supportive) of Obama and HIS petty acts of vengeance has nothing to do with it either.

Pull the other one, it plays “Jingle Bells.”

The discussion, such as it is, is the Left trying to eviscerate Christie for the very kind of thing they permitted under Obama.

  • Clete Torres

Joan Walsh looks like the kind of person who would say ‘toatht’ instead of ‘toast.’

    • Patches O’Houlihan

But… In her defense, if she chose to remove her firmly planted lips from the President’s posterior, she would regain the ability to enunciate.

  • KC

Walsh has no opinion on every traffic jam Obama and family creates everywhere they go.

  • JMigyanka

Obama and Clinton complicit in the MURDER of 4 Americans in Benghazi. oBamacare a wide scale Solyndra. Keep covering for the libtards cutie!

  • Hoosierdaddy

Close bridge lanes vs. allow your ambassador to be lynched. Nice call on what deserves to be “toast”.

  • PeterP

“What did he know and when did he eat it?”

  • dwsmokin

Christie used his staff and contacts, the President uses the IRS and the NSA. So what’s the diff?

  • HARP2

Now is this an admission that Obama DID know about the IRS ?

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

I don’t care for Christie, but just remember this important qualifier: Joan Walsh thought Obamacare would work. ‘Nuff said.

  • praymorenow1

What Does It Matter? Isn’t that all Gov. Christie needs to say to make it all go ‘swish’, and it goes away? What does it matter, and look rude & indignant when you say it Governor.
Oh wait…you’re a Republican. No bother.
    1. More than one head needs to roll, and you better be able to separate yourself…fast from whoever set this one up.
    2. If you have more ‘Jersey Shore’ style paybacks like this, you’re really toast….
    I hope you don’t.
    3. Governor, you must have had a good poll nationally for the national press to drop the hammer on you so soon to assist the Clinton Coronation.
    4. Being a jerk to the GOP conservative base for 2 years, ouch….will find you a victim of media selective outrage, w/ little right wing support at first………it will come. Just not too fast Governor. Your smugness towards Romney, and the likes of Palin, Cruz, and others is not forgotten….but, you will find it sooner than later…..eventually.
    5. Let’s see how you handle the ‘McCain Treatment’ (GOP figure loved for being the maverick anti-GOP figure, until you run vs. a real Democrat, then you are scum).

  • SupplyGuy

I do find the hypocrisy disgusting, but I am also enjoying some schedenfruede (sp?) as well. See what kissing up to a liberal gets you Christie? Yeah, suck it RINO.
And another thing. If you are so stupid that you hire people that are so stupid to do something like this and email it around, you deserve the @$$ pounding that’s coming your way. Even the incompetent Obama wasn’t stupid enough to put anything in writing to the IRS.

    • Thomas, Snarkmaster General

It’s John McCain all over again, folks.

  • Cantbelieveyouthinkthis

Doesn’t matter, wasn’t going to vote of the RINO anyway.

  • Acethepug

Yup. This behavior by Christie is terrible. The same behavior by Obama, excused and defended for years?
Keep spinning that Leftist lie, Joan! Does lying make you feel even the slightest bit better in knowing that you have no moral integrity at all?

  • Thomas, Snarkmaster General

Joanie, Joanie, Joanie…as much as I think you’re right about “Bridgegate” and its implications, you calling Christie “toast” is a bit premature.

After all, you said the Benghazi scandal was “deflated” because of an email…

  • keyboard jockey

She really needs to take her meds.

Joan, Joan, the hideous Crone is a true Communist Red to the Bone. Always plays the nasty race card and will steadfastly remain a clueless libtard. Lies are the things she tells all the time. She’s so disgusting, full of bolshevik slime. Looks like a loon, smells like a rat, I’d like anyone to try to dispute that.

    • keyboard jockey

The only reason that Christie is getting hit in the Media right now is because of the latest polling showing he can beat Hillary. Christie has rattled the smear merchant’s cages SEE Joan Walsh, and this is their response.

Walsh is wish casting. The progressive era is over, they hit their high water mark with passing that disastrous ACA exclusively on partisan lines – they own it and Hillary praised Obama for passing it. Now they will be clawing at the air trying to hold on to any position of power going into 2014 and 2016.

Times like these Christie should remember why it’s not smart to alienate conservatives, because conservatives unlike republican’s will fight for their candidates.

      • hatsylady

        I pray you’re right!
