In addition to the above, earlier this month, Bette Midler tweeted that a warmer than usual New York City winter day was a sign of “global warming,” having previously blamed a cooler than usual summer day on “climate change.”

In December of 2012, Midler also warned of the upcoming global warming apocalypse, but she got quick relief from the heat a day later.

The NYC forecast calls for temps to get down to around 30 degrees by Christmas, so Midler can again switch from “global warming” to “climate change.”

Doesn’t Bette have some bites to track down?

Why doesn’t this HASBEEN just STFU, it has been proven by REAL scientist not on the government dole, that HUMAN caused climate change is a farc & that climate change is happening but it is the Sun & the processes that it goes thru that are causing climate chage, NOT HUMANS !!!! If Bette had half a brain she would have figured that out by now, it is funny to me how FLEEBAGGING [email protected] who believe in this HUMAN caused climate change never have a good reason for why we had a global warming event 11,000 years ago !!! Or how about the LITTLE ICE AGE of the late 1600’s & early 1700’s I guess those were all HUMAN cuased too right FLEEBAGGERS, what a bunch of JACK@$$ES FLEEBAGGERS are !!!!!!

I guess we should NOT be surprised that FLEEBAGGERS never have FACTS, they just make up sht as they go along !!!! I would ask Bette to what she would do about a country like China who have 4 times the population of that of the U.S. !! That means that the Chinese are putting 4 times the Co2 into the atmosphere just from breathing alone, this doesn’t even count all the extra cars, industry, homes & heating those homes for a population that size !!! I would ask Bette & Al Wh0re & the rest of the FLEEBAGGERS how China is impacting the worlds environment with all that Co2 just from their people breathing, this is just an INCONVENIENT TRUTH for Bette & the rest to ponder !!!

Fascinating. So what would be her explanation of last Winter (actually in Jan of this year) Los Angeles breaking its own record for cold temps? And we’re poised to do it again this coming January.

    • H50 ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Yea, and were having a bit of a cold snap here, go figure.
Bette is still an idiot and water is still wet.

      • Michelle ✓classified

Los Angeles is now colder than I ever remember it being when I was growing up as a kid. And I’m still having a hard time finding any Global Warming believer to explain to me how, if the world hasn’t been warming/cooling since its existence – how did the ice age come to an end? Too much Aqua Net back then? Yosemite Valley was formed when the glaciers melted. Too much exhaust from the SUVs back then?

        • H50 ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Yea those Fred Flintstones cars left HUGE carbon footprints! LOL And the Dino farts, my golly miss molly!

Time for folks to get over themselves and admit that we are merely like fleas on a dog to the Earth. Mother nature always has the final word no matter how much we whine and cry about it.

          • Michelle ✓classified

            Dino farts! Laughed. Out. Loud.

        • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I actually looked it up, Michelle.

On average, the 1980’s were the warmest decade for the Los Angeles basin. Since 2000, with a few anomalous 100-degree days, it has been somewhat cooler. But it’s Los Angeles you’re talking about, remember? Maybe forty-five degrees at night in January, years ago, versus 40 at night now– but that 45 was always too chilly, for most people there.

(Just as a side note, you’re supposedly getting rid of your trademark Washingtonias for deciduous trees that cast more shade, to lessen the “heat-island effect,” so I’ve heard…)

          • Michelle ✓classified

I wouldn’t have had to look it up to know it’s now colder in LA than I was a kid because I have very clear memories of never needing scarves, mittens, knit hats, etc. as a kid. We didn’t even own that stuff, it was never needed. And our “winter jackets” were similar to what would work as a “fall jacket” in the Northeast. Fast forward to this time – it’s become normal for us to reach into the 30’s (and at times high 20’s) at night, 40’s during the day. Keep in mind Guy, LA is made up of several valleys including high and low deserts, so when we Angelinos refer to Los Angeles, it doesn’t necessarily mean the LA basin, but also includes all of us within the county, in separate valleys that tend to have different micro-climates. Example being – back in 1989 it snowed in the San Fernando Valley (which is in the definition of the City of Los Angeles), but it did not snow in downtown LA. It’s actually the handful of valleys that make up the suburbs of Los Angeles that are currently experiencing colder temps each year. It’s not at all unusual for there to be a 10+ degree difference in temp from one end of LA to the other.

As for the Washingtonia palm trees, I’m not aware of our city getting rid of them, they are still found all over Los Angeles lining city streets. The change in the type of palm that is now popular here is more for aesthetic reasons. With newer homes, people are planting prettier palms and with older homes, are removing Washingtonia palms because they look very out-dated. They remind of us of the 70’s around here.

          • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Well, I defer to your superior knowledge, but I would not forget the cold current off the California coast which brings the fog into the LA basin every night that it isn’t raining, which may keep some of that “heat-island heat” in the basin. The interior valleys may have clearer skies and dissipate the 65 to 70 degree “heat” of the day faster and more thoroughly. (The Wash-tree not-enough-shade story was probably one of those urban myths, like that they are full of rats and bats if you don’t trim the petticoat.)

I lived in Miami, so I know my palms– invest in Syagri romanzoffianae, “Queen palms” (the ones that look vaguely like coconut palms). Nice “tropical” look for the cold-hardiness they have.

          • Michelle ✓classified

I didn’t mean to come off as having superior knowledge, I was just trying to convey specifics of the layout here in Los Angeles means there is much variance in temp and weather patterns all across Los Angeles. The “Los Angeles Basin” is only one part of Los Angeles, it is along the coast and experiences different patterns of temps and weather than the rest of Los Angeles because it is located on the coast. The other areas of Los Angeles are located in several valleys (San Gabriel, San Fernando, Simi, Santa Clarita, Antelope, etc.) And because of the significant hills and mountain ranges that divide these valleys, each experiences their own weather patterns. Los Angeles Basin has coastal weather, while Antelope Valley has desert weather. It’s extremely common during the summer for parts of the San Fernando Valley to have several days at 105 degrees, while Los Angeles basin stays at low 90’s. It can snow in the Santa Clarita Valley, while the Los Angeles Basin is in the 40’s or 50’s.

I guess what I’m trying to say is when a person looks at the weather record for “Los Angeles” that record doesn’t speak for a true picture of what is ALL of Los Angeles (4,000 square miles). When a native Angelino refers to Los Angeles, we mean the entire area including suburbs, not just downtown or the basin.

I’m guessing the story of LA removing the W palms was a myth someone came up with considering they aren’t being removed and they really are still found all over Los Angeles, but going forward, they are no longer planted and more popular these days are prettier palms with a more tropical look. My mom had her W palms removed from her house only because they are an eyesore and outdated, as is the case when many homeowners removing them – has nothing to do with trying to effect the temperature.

7 degrees in Chicago today. Obviously this is global cooling and we should all burn as many fossil fuels as possible, as soon as possible or the sea levels will fall to life threatening levels and we will all die!

    • Frank Drebin

500-600 miles west of you we’ve got the coal-fired plants chugging away, but they don’t seem to be helping much at all. A little bit of snow and a “real feel” of 5º now, heading your way.

With any luck it’ll pass on through to NYC and stall out, giving Ms M a legit reason to sing the blues.

      • QueenB ✓

Aw heck, we already have a “real feel” of about minus 10. Real feel of 5 might make me think there’s something to this global warming. lol

It’s 70 degrees here too in North Carolina. Oh it’s so bad, how can anybody stand it. I was hoping I’d be freezing my ass off but instead I’m completely comfortable and being productive. That evil global warming making the earth a nicer place to live in. It must be stopped.

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Trust me, 70 degrees in December, in the Northeast, has no one complaining about it, especially those who never shoveled their snow from last week.

Everything’s relative, Bette; I’m put in mind of the apocryphal story of the missionary who went to the Arctic, and preached to the Inuit– he had to tone down the whole “Lake of Fire and Brimstone” thing, because to them, that actually sounded inviting.
