What. A. Worm.

Obama adviser David Axelrod’s tweet is about as desperate and pitiful as it gets, but it’s a question that is easily answered:

And what would the White House and Axelrod’s response have been a few months ago if insurance companies sent their customers letters informing them that Obama’s “if you like your plan you can keep your plan, period” promise was a lie?

If they were “junk policies,” how come so many people are furious because they’re losing them and being forced into more expensive options?

Criticism of Axelrod was swift, massive and necessary:

The only way David Axelrod will have a positive effect on the number of insured Americans is if he can figure out a way to turn BS into health insurance.

No, the insurance companies have been pressured into remaining silence by threat of prosecution by the DOJ and all other groups who monitor them in the Federal government.

Hey Dave, you useless POS. Both my sister and I have epilepsy, just like your daughter. The copay for our meds went from $30/month, to having to pay full price which for her is $200/month and for me is $300/month. All because of your guy’s horrible law which says two women with epilepsy don’t matter as much as making sure a grown woman who makes more than both of us combined doesn’t have to scrape together $10/month for her birth control. So, I’m sure you’ll understand that anytime I see your face I just want to punch it. How would you feel if your daughter could no longer afford her meds. Go screw yourself just as you assisted in screwing over the American people, you soulless piece of pond scum. My apologies to pond scum.

Pretty sure his asshatness has been granted the popular waiver for he and his family. Truly he and his ilk are a whole flokin herd of POS’s

      • QueenB ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I have been very lucky that, since I haven’t taken my meds in a year because I can no longer afford them, that I have not had a seizure. My sister just found out about her costs going up. She absolutely cannot go without her meds or she will have a grand mal within about 4 days. This poor woman. Not only can she not afford her meds with insurance, she now has to have maternity coverage even though she knows she can never carry and give birth to her own child because of her epilepsy. It took her years to come to terms with that.

        • Spinmamma

I am very sorry you and your sister have been dealt this blow. It is beyond speech.

        • DrSamHerman

I would suggest you look at the website http://www.clinicaltrials.gov – if your sister qualifies for a clinical trial involving her kind of seizure disorder, she would get free drugs, free care and some other freebies. The free drug only lasts for so long, but it may be enough assistance to help until other avenues become available.

          • QueenB ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I appreciate that doc, but she’s been through the “let’s try different meds and see what happens” thing, and its a no go. Depakote is the only thing that works for her, and then she has another scrip that went up which helps counteract the side effects of the depakote. But sincerely, thank you. 😀

  • waltermitty2012

The problem isn’t with the insurance companies, the problem is that 80% of enrollments have been for Medicaid. If that trend continues, private insurance rates will skyrocket and the government and many states will be saddled with much higher than expected Medicaid costs.

    • karmafordems

  • journogal

One thing liberals won’t answer or dance around or scream “racist” is why do they assume that government knows best for them. It frightening that many believe that not only does Obama and the Democrats (because we all know that Republicans are uncaring) care about them, but also have their best interest at heart. I can’t get a straight answer on why they think government knows what is best for them (really us.)

    • beebop1952

Yeah … remember what 0bama said about the grandmother who raised him after his father ran off and his mother dumped him?

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I commented here weeks ago, that insurance companies always had a clause in every policy that said they would only cancel YOUR policy if you either didn’t pay the premiums or they stopped selling that particular product. So if you don’t stop paying, they can only drop you if they no longer sell your kind of policy. So how can they sell your policy? Only if it meets ACA standards– and of course, the Administration can always look at popular products, dope out what’s missing, mandate those, and by so doing, stop them from selling your policy.

Whereupon, the Administration play innocent and say, “Hey, it always WAS possible for them to cancel you– what a junk policy you must have had, if they use that ‘out-clause’ to deny you better coverage, if you’re not going to pay for it– and if you’re not going to pay, hey-hey-hey, they always cancelled you, for THAT!”

Never mind that this is really what those weasels did on the you-can-keep-your-policy promise:

  • Roger Taylor

Let’s not forget Reichsmarshal Sebellius threatening lawsuits against insurance companies who DID attempt to blow the whistle on the lie.

Why didn’t the insurance companies spread the word?

Because of the thuggery and intimidation tactics of administration flacks like Axelrod himself.

    • Prairie Sarah

It’d be miserable to be a targeted business in this administration’s sights, so it’s understandable that they bowed to threats – implied or voiced.

If the average voter had an IQ over 50 with the ability to form cogent thought AND do math, this would have been glaringly clear. But then Obama wouldn’t be president with those conditions.

  • Perplexed

We aren’t the victims of junk policies. We are the victims of a junk presidency!

    • cardnut

      Amen to that!

  • https://www.facebook.com/libertyNvrsleeps Thomas Purcell

Actually – they did. Every one of my 2136 clients got a letter back in 2010 saying that any changes would result in rate increases and cancellations.

    • LJPJ

Yeah, but sadly the fools believed the President and HIS LIES vs. their letters, or he never would have been re-elected. What a POS POTUS and his entourage.

      • https://www.facebook.com/libertyNvrsleeps Thomas Purcell

The companies knew Obamacare was crap thats why they sent the letters.

        • LJPJ

Exactly…they were covering their bets…the insurance companies were ETHICAL here, not criminal. Watch the spinners spin.

    • Perplexed

But did they expect mandatory changes to their policies? Did your male clients expect that they would be mandated to have maternity coverage?

      • https://www.facebook.com/libertyNvrsleeps Thomas Purcell

Nope. But I told every one of them – DON’T TRUST GOVERNMENT. Nobody listened.

    • Prairie Sarah

I was hoping the 2012 election would have fixed that. But I figured that even if the presidency went to Romney that congress would have had a snowball’s chance in hell of axing the ACA. Ergo, the writing was on the wall – or letter – and the inevitable excrement storm would hit right before 2014.

      • https://www.facebook.com/libertyNvrsleeps Thomas Purcell

Axelrod is so dumb and uninformed, he didn’t even know the insurance companies covered their ass with their clients.

    • beebop1952

You are too stupid to know you have a junk plan. But you can stay with the same predatory insurance company that sold you the junk coverage for 10+ years. As government is not going to arrest them for ripping you off for 10+ years just regulate them now so they don’t do that again.

Not sure why Axelrod now wants to blame it on the insurance companies and their customers. My group plan administrator told us up front that we could not keep our insurance coverage because all the O mandates were not included and would have to be changed. We shouted it from the roof tops and to all our liberal friends who refused to believe it. Now they are the ones in a tizzy about their coverage since they are losing it right and left and the replacement policy is not as good as what they once had. Lying and passing blame is an art form that O and his minions have mastered.

  • ObamaFail

Truly pathetic. As usual, every failure of this administration is on everyone but the people who are actually responsible. Axelrod should be forced to put up with what we’re putting up with, maybe then he’d wake up. Blaming the insurance companies? They didn’t know what was coming! They were duped along with the rest of us (well, many of us were smart enough to call BS the second Obama started making promises). How could they possibly have known that Obama was lying?

  • ObamaFail

Next Axelrod and Pfeiffer and the rest of the lemmings will be demanding George W. Bush to apologize for making Obama sign the ACA into law.

  • obowmasbananarepublic

I still don’t get it. The Liar In Chief continues to claim we’ll be better off since our insurance is cancelling. Well why does he want to keep his private insurance since it’s so dam bad? Seems like he would cancel his policy and run to the Obamatax Care Plan?

  • sanfordandsons

Hey David, if you would read the bill, especially the first 100 pages, you would realize that the Director of HHS had to write the rules first before the ACA could release the mandatory changes. After the changes were made, probably last year, companies then, AND ONLY THEN, would be able to determine who, what and where. Now that you understand, go back to Chicago and find another worthless candidate for the presidency.

    — Sorry, but he’s too busy turning health insurance into BS.

  • MNWoman

It seems to me the definition of “junk policies” is a policy in which the person had to make financial contributions to their own policies, but did not have to make contributions to others.

A lot of people were perfectly happy with their policies. They were happy to pay a premium, have a copay or a deductible and essentially have some sort of financial obligation to their health care costs. Some people were okay with minimum care policies while others had extensive coverage, but it was up to them to decide if they needed to adjust their budget to obtain better coverage.

Now people who had minimal coverage are going to have to pay more for the things they don’t want or go wtihout insurance.

  • drw

This adventure is un American. We live in a democratic republic which depends on informed voters to elect representatives and to communicate their opinions about various issues.
