David Guth, a University of Kansas journalism professor, tweeted this on Monday:

Why do some who claim to want a world devoid of violence and hate sound so violent and hateful?

He did not walk it back:

Naturally Guth received a lot of criticism, among them, this tweeter asking for a classroom debate:

Full exposure to and understanding of both sides of the story isn’t relevant to journalism studies? That sounds about right these days, unfortunately.

Some people just want to pick and choose which parts of the Constitution should apply:

Here’s the money shot:

The NRA has called for Guth’s firing, but the University of Kansas tweeted today that their professor doesn’t speak for the university and those were his own personal opinions:

Guth doesn’t speak for them, except when he’s in the classroom more than likely filling minds with that kind of garbage.

Newsbusters has an analysis of Guth’s blog here. It’s pretty much what you’d expect.

  • Maximum Booger

Liberals are the REAL haters. Always have been.

    • Kate

It’s an odd feeling to go on a liberal site (HuffPo, Politico, etc.) and read some of the vile things in the comments section, while they accuse Conservatives of being hateful. They are so blind to their own hypocricy.

I would NEVER wish death on a family member of a liberal, no matter how loathsome, and I think I speak for most of us who comment on this site.

      • hatsylady

I agree. I don’t wish liberals any harm. What kind of a sicko would wish harm to anyone’s children is beyond me? I guess certain leftist nut jobs need to get psychological evaluations. I just wish liberals/leftists/socialists and commies would leave us all alone. Fat chance of that ever happening.

        • Maxx

It’s rather pathetic that someone who fancies himself a journalist could be so inarticulate as to convey, in disgust of violence, a request for more of it.

Sad that future journalists are anywhere near this intellectual infant.

          • AmericanMom

The word “journalist” in reality liberal definition is someone who parrots democrat hate-speech, despises and disrespects conservatives and alters the so-called news they are willing to print or give to fit the liberal agenda. The rest of the news is ignored and disregarded.

          • IBXNJ

He is a good example of what NOT to do in the field…..Can you say MALICE???

        • Lucy

I don’t wish them any harm. I just wish the mother ship would come back for them and return them to their home planet.

          • idalily

          • TexSizzle

I respond to this kind of leftist vicious comment by saying, “I wish for you what you wish for me”.

Edit: not directed at Lucy – directed at the professor’s comments.

          • hatsylady

I guess they’re not welcome back to their home planet. Maybe they were the worst of the worst and like Castro, they dumped them here. Lucky us!

      • dwsmokin

You speak the truth. I have noticed that one primary reason that so little gets done these days is-as soon as a liberal becomes aware of my conservative bent-rather then persuade with facts, they immediately resort to name calling. We’ve all heard it-we’re “haters”, or “racists”, or whatever. While we-for the most part-respect their right to their views, that respect is generally not reciprocal. I see, read, and hear more vile hatred from the supposed “enlightened” left, in one hour, than I see in one week from the right. Yet they either ignore it or simply don’t care.

        • CLASYS

They use Saul Alinsky attacks to ridicule their opponent. the BEST thing to do is ridicule them first, and constantly, and make them really good zingers. Hopefully it will get their goat and they become incredibly infantile. They are all talk and cannot take what they poorly dish out thrown back at them. Take your gloves off; they have brass knuckles inside of theirs.

        • PatriotRG

Its tourretes syndrome of the left – at all time favorite is racist.
My favourite is Islamophobe which I respond with Islamophilia.

          • autdrew4real

Being called a racist because I oppose Islam & sharia.
If you point out that Islam is not a RACE you get, but people of all colors are Muslim so you’re still racist, to which I reply Christianity has members of all colors & you hate them, racist
            They don’t get it

          • PatriotRG

The irony is the mass slaughter (very un newsworthy) of Christians by Islam in the past , right now and very likely in the future. The most intolerant religion like Islam demands the most tolerance and the most liberal in our society side with a fascistic medieval death cult against an evolved benign Christianity. The biggest irony is that Islamists would hang most of these liberals from construction cranes at the first opportunity , gays , women libers etc etc.

          • Pete

So i’m a racist because I oppose islam & all it stands for; then i’m proud to be a racist, big deal. I also oppose satanism does that make me anti-first ammendment? trying to make us feel guilty by calling us racist will not work, try something else!

          • TexSizzle

When they call me racist, I thank them for conceding that they have no logical argument, so they’re resorting to ad hominem attack. This really infuriates them.

          • hatsylady

Good one! I like that. Only they have no idea how much the would be despised by Islamists.

          • PatriotRG

leftists/libs will be the first the Islamists will hang.

      • Ellen K

I had to quit reading NYT comments. The rampant venom, unwillingness to accept anyone else’s right to an opinion and the absolute disinformation vortex was simply sickening.

Raw Story comments are pretty disgusting, and most Mediaite liberals’ comments are just plain childish.

      • CLASYS

I wouldn’t count on that too much.

      • skindoc

I agree with your message 100%, but please learn how to spell “hypocrisy.” It probably is the most frequently misspelled word in internet comments. Liberals, of course, get a free pass when they make spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes, but conservatives get called ignorant troglodytes. We have to try harder to get our message out.

        • autdrew4real

It’s been called the most often misspelled words online. I love how some call it Hippocrates. Makes me laugh every time

        • idalily

Unfair, but true. It’s okay for Obama to mispronounce corpseman, but not okay for Bush to mispronounce nuclear. The double standard is sickening, but there.

        • Kate

Oops, that’s one of a half-dozen words that trips me up. Fixed!

      • Rightturn

Speaking for most is not speaking for all, just as those liberals who do it do no speak for all.

    • grais

And for all he knows, some of the murder victims Were children of NRA members, or were NRA members themselves, in which case he’s saying he’s happy that they’re dead.
      Smart guy, that one.

      • Marc Vellat

It was government policy, not the NRA, that made it a gun-free zone without any armed citizens who could’ve taken the guy out.

        • http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1mo1wzFiu1qbubzqo1_400.gif Cleatus Van Damne ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Exactly. And the NRA fights to preserve the right of the People to defend themselves against these monsters.

          • trixiewoobeans

And “these monsters” always seem to be Liberal Dems, or raised by them, or Obama supporters. What say you, 100 Proof Prof.? And if he won’t debate because the “subject isn’t relevant to the course subject,” why’d he open his big yapper in the first place? He thought it was relevant then?

        • notpilgrims2

It wasn’t government policy. It was a crazy person’s policy. The government didn’t kill people. A shooter killed people.

          Clinton Policy.

I was thinking that myself, Why would he assume that only liberals get killed by mass shootings? I guess all his higher education didn’t help him be any smarter than a rock.

    • donzap

Is it not time that Radical Leftist Professors are fired from making such statements?

I would urge all alumni to consider not supporting the school or any athletic programs as long as that professor is employed.

It’s the mental illness of self hatred. It is expressed with violent brutal outbursts, aggressive brutal actions. Quite, often untreatable because it morphs………..

      • CLASYS

Correct. They are self-loathing and these outbursts are an attempt to mask it; they cannot figuratively look themselves in the mirror unless like Obama, they have overwhelming megalomania and narcissism overcoming it. [He will eventually crack as his popularity continues to drop. Listen to the recent faltering speech patterns; it’s underway…]

    • https://www.facebook.com/captainclarity CaptainClarity

Republican President Abe Lincoln was assassinated by a staunch Democrat liberal actor. Republican President William McKinley was assassinated by Socialist and anarchist. There were attempted assassinations of Republican Presidents Ford and Reagan. The only time a Republican was not the target of violence was when CONSERVATIVE Democrat President Kennedy was assassinated by a communist sympathizer. Of course liberal democrats were supporting communism at the time, just as they always have and just as they do now at Occupy rallies.

What do all of these violent and deadly events have in common? People to the right were violently attacked by people to the left of themselves.

He left out “associate” on his Twitter profile.
      So he’s deceitful, too.

      • Alastor

Ummm – I think that is tautologically redundant …

    • Ellen K

I wonder how the professor reconciles the shooter’s Buddhist philosophy with the shooting? I wonder if the professor was disappointed that yet again it was someone who was liberal and a minority that did the deed rather than the Tea Party advocates he probably loathes. But then again, what with the various crimes in Kansas City lately, his is probably the prevailing attitude.

    • http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1mo1wzFiu1qbubzqo1_400.gif Cleatus Van Damne ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Professor of journalism, too. Explains a lot.

      • IBXNJ

For someone who teaches journalism his tweet just established MALICE. If he has made any defamatory statements that prove to be false he is wide open

      • linda15419

Then this subject is definitely “relevant” to his course. Typical journalism professor. They have completely forgotten what journalism is. They think they are knighted to “make a difference” in the world. Their role is to report the news, something we have seen very little of lately.

      • http://www.vatican.va/ Rulz

    Memo to Mr. Guth:

  • no_more_deceit

“@KenneyDA His personal tweet doesn’t represent KU. The shooting is a terrible tragedy & our hearts go out to the victims & their families.— University of Kansas (@KUNews) September 19, 2013”

You can’t spell ‘suck’ without KU.

    • DebsFriends

Then what is KU planning to do about his comments? As long as he is allowed to stay on the staff, anything he says does represent KU.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

You should have tweeted that to them.

    • 23anniebrown45

And the scary thing is.. it’s guys like this that actually do walk into a classroom and start shooting… he’s a hate monger. Somebody should keep a close eye on him, he’s dangerous!

  • 0bamasnought

    This has to stop.

We need to defund the State College system.
Go to your state budget, and look at how much tertiary education costs. In most state it is more than they spend on primary and secondary education.
Washington state spends $8 billion on the colleges, and just less than that on the rest.
They give billions of dollars to schools that have billions in endowments.
We need to have alumni step up, and wrest control away from the states.

    • Andy from Beaverton

The indoctrinators need to be removed from all public funded schooling.

    • IBXNJ

How about the abolition of tenure????

  • NeoKong

If a student sent out a tweet like that directed at any faculty or their family not only would the university expel him immediately he would also be arrested and they know it.

    • Scott

Here’s hoping that a RIGHT minded student does JUST that and then sues the daylights out of the school!!

It took the internet to show the vile feelings of liberals.

    • Chevypowered

That is why libs want to control it.

  • toreilly

Tonight is college night at my son’s school. Here’s one we can quickly eliminate…

  • Hank Scorpio

Why is KU continuing his employment?

    • MarcusFenix

Why would they punish a person who simply is saying what they’re all thinking?

      • gjsmith_62

Because that is a state secret? He let the cat out of the bag.

      • linda15419

Are you speaking for everyone? I’m not thinking that. Speak for yourself! This professor is out of line and he’s needs to be dealt with appropriately. You would be squealing the loudest if he spewed conservative views.

        • $950249

He Should Be Fired At Once,……This Is An Obama Troll Freaks,……Typical Scum Bag

        • MarcusFenix

The comment was meant as a snarky, rhetorical statement about the fact that he’s just saying aloud the very things the other liberal professors are *likely* saying in private. Was that unclear to you for some reason? This man said incredibly insensitive things, which were not called for and were in poor taste. If that somehow is also unclear, then there’s nothing I can do to help you there.

If he were saying items that lined up with conservatism, I’d be in agreement. Clearly he is not. Do you think I’m some shrill liberal or something? Go back through my history of comments…you’ll find that you’re both barking up the wrong tree, and that I can clearly express my own view (as I did above…) perfectly well, thank you.

As a matter of fact…I can only really speak for myself and on my own opinion. I don’t claim to absolutely know what others think, and prefer them to voice their own opinion.

          • linda15419

I humbly apologize, Mr. Fenix, for my hasty opinion and criticism of your position. I did not detect the sarcasm in your post and yes, it was unclear to me that you were referring to what other professors of his ilk were likely saying. I did go back through your history of comments and agree that you can clearly and effectively express your own views perfectly well with no help from me. And I also agree that the KU professor’s comments are way out of line; I completely agree with you on that. No argument here. Mine was a knee-jerk reaction to your post and again, I apologize for insulting you. Thank you for your explanation.

          • MarcusFenix

It’s all good, no worries. It’s not like i haven’t done the same thing before….and if my comments were a little harsh, then you likewise have my apologies. I get so used to dealing with people online being difficult, that sometimes I forget to temper my own words.

“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” Matt. 10:16

I’m just extra wary of wolves. 😉

            Have a blessed day! :)

  • Marvin Nelson

This man is an insult to those of us college professors who believe in the Second Amendment. I have too much respect for my students and university community to ever try to push an agenda. As I tell my students, who will become teachers, EVERY comment that they make on their personal social media reflect on them and their school. KU is typical of liberal universities. They are scared $hitless because this moron undoubtedly has tenure. All alumni from KU should be humiliated by this.

  • MarcusFenix

“I appreciate your interest. But the subject isn’t relevant to the course subject. Free speech is for everyone. Thanks.”

Only from the stupidity of a liberal professor, who teaches journalism…would you get the idea that something that’s a hot topic of current events was not relevant to subject of journalism, which (in fact) covers current events.

Except for MSNBC. We know they don’t break news.

    Simply stunning.

  • Debbie Shumaker

I wonder why Twitchy felt it important to give credence to someone with 275 followers. Don’t degrade this site with impotent people.

    • WilliamAmos

Reminds me of the old Gallagher joke. If you don’t confront ignorance and stupidity then the ignorant and stupid will think it is OK to be that way.

      • Clete Torres

Difference is, William, that now this douchecarton feels empowered by the exposure, will feel that he has been declared victorious by our notice and comment on his twit-feed diarrhea, and will undoubtedly refer to it in his classroom time.

        • WilliamAmos

Even the University is backing away from him. And Kansas isn’t a hotbed of liberalism.

          • J. Cox

Actually…lawerence IS the shame of Kansas.Lot of liberals live there, and it is getting worse.

    • TocksNedlog

I think it’s cute how you think that exposing the partisan douchebaggery of those that are teaching the next generation is somehow not a part of Twitchy’s mission.

The new civility of the left on display. How is this any different than Pelosi’s arsonists, Reid’s anarchist and Obama’s extortionists?

Wishing death on the children of gun owners who hurt no one. Yeah, that’s appropriate and not a symptom of liberal hysteria at all.

Because it’s the law-abiding gun owners and their children who are the real problem, not the isolated monsters who actually murder people, you see.

  • cjncook

Sounds like a professor and educator of biased main stream media journalist.

You agree with someone who says children of NRA should be the next mass victims of a shooting? Wow, you realize what that says about you. How does it feel to wish for death on someone else’s children? Does it empower you? Make you feel like a big person? You come across as very small.

      • tatsumaki

Uh, he isn’t rooting for KU – they’re the Jayhawks. He’s rooting for the Kansas State University WIldcats, their Big 12 rival. Sarcasm is being used there. Also reference his previous comment as to whether he was using University resources – if so, they should at LEAST discipline him.

        • journogal

Sorry…I am only well-versed in the SEC, so I don’t know about the Big 12.
Sometimes a sarc tag does help, since there are people who would take the side of the professor and post here.

          • tatsumaki

That’s what I figured – conferences are very localized and I would be hard pressed to name the SEC members =) I live in Kansas, but my favorite (and alma mater) is the 3rd state university, the Wichita State Shockers !

      • Steve_J

You don’t know who the Wildcats are, do you.

        • journogal

(hanging my head in same) As I posted above, I am dedicated to the SEC and truthfully don’t pay attention to other divisions unless there is something juicy going on or they play SEC team in a bowl. Honest and stupid mistake to make, but with the resident trolls around Twitchy, you never take anything for granted.

      • linda15419

        Journogal. Steve_J is giving a shoutout to KU’s in-state rival, K-

  • AZGunslinger

Apparently there are people already calling for his dismissal. It won’t happen because he only wished for the deaths of NRA members’ children. Now, if he had wished for gays, blacks, Hispanics, women, illegals, or Al Qaeda to be killed….. he would have already been canned.

  • grais

Maybe God’s justice does take many forms.

The professor has every right to show himself as a hateful, arrogant, a$$. In fact, it would actually be helpful if more of his ilk would tweet their true feelings, rather than hide behind spin and politispeak. I can honestly say that, with two teenagers looking at colleges, Kansas has been crossed off the list. I’m sure they can find institutions of higher learning that are more compassionate, and less hateful, than Kansas.

  • http://intoexploring.blogspot.com/ Greg

Scientists shared research findings Thursday that point to a newly discovered type of brain damage common among those who blame inanimate objects for the actions of criminals. The scientists, speaking under condition of anonymity, have named this condition “assholiosis”. According to the group, symptoms of assholiosis also include apathy, ignorance, teaching “journalism” classes at KU, supporting illegal immigration, cheerleading government healthcare, a desire to expand welfare and food stamp programs, and begging for higher taxes.

sorry prof, but the NRA member will be packing, thus preventing his/her kids’ massacre. It’s quite comforting, knowing you’d be able to save your offspring from senseless murder. You should try it sometime.

  • $2943864

I’ll still teach my kids the skills to defend this guy. It kind of makes it more noble.

    • therealguyfaux

If you defend him from some armed bad guy, do you mean? Don’t expect to be thanked. You’ll have shattered his world if you do– and he’ll have to retreat even further into Fantasyland.

If you mean defend his right to make vile asinine comments– yeah, I hope you would do that, too. Better out than in, as they say about vile-smelling eructations (burps, to you non-college-professors). Your enemy can’t do you no harm, ‘coz you know where he’s coming from, as the old R&B song says.

    • Jay Stevens

I must disagree with that. All you will be doing is rewarding stupidity.

    • zz3magnet

      great comment.

  • Kenneth James Abbott

And how much does our government pay this guy?

  • Don

What a piece of trash! Know wonder our country is going down the toilet with teachers and professors like this teaching our kids…….

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

@Mr. A$$hat’s “Free Speech” remark: “.@DWGuth @CamEdwards I’m sorry, I didn’t realize the Gov’t was trying to curb your thoughtless remarks. Someone needs to re-read the 1st.”

  • Bruce Darling

In David Guth, the dark soul of the liberal is revealed.

  • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

It must be GREAT to live in a free country – now the professor needs to explain how that free speech right is possible. Does he think there are Constitution fairy’s that uphold and defend his Constitutional rights? Does he think those people arm themselves with rolled up newspapers?

  • Ricky Watkins

It is not funny, that in the past, these shooters are liberal supporters who went off their meds prescribed to them. How come these people push for control of objects that are no different than a car, a gallon of gasoline or a bottle filled with flammable fuel? Liberals scream about control yet when asked about responsibility for action. They jive and shuck their way out of it. It is the person with evil in their hearts and minds with intent to harm others that is to blame. It bothers decent people that no one stopped these people when they showed signs to harm others. Before we start overhauling the gun control laws, we need to overhaul the mental health reporting laws so that people like the previous shooters in the last 5 years, access to weapons and such devices that could bring harm to themselves and others. I know it is beating a dead horse but if you hit it hard enough, it will move a little bit.

  • ObamaFail

This piece of trash should be fired. If he were a Republican attacking Planned Parenthood and wishing death on their children, he’d be fired already. But these “tolerant liberals” always show how hateful and prone to violence they are, don’t they? KU obviously condones it, seeing as how he has not been punished in any way.
Where is WhoDat or one of the other pathetic lib trolls to defend him? I feel like schooling them after they try to defend this blood thirsty monster. Another thing, liberals hate Christians, and are always trying to infringe on their religious freedoms, but to defend their hatred, they always hide behind God, don’t they? Hypocrites, everyone of them.

    • The Penguin (Happy Hanukkah)

“Hateful and prone to violence”. Agreed. As long as someone else is perpetrating the act. They are f*cking cowards too.

    • WhoDat

I feel honored that you thought of me.

What this man typed in was despicable. I don’t wish death on anyone, especially children.

      And there are liberal Christians.

    • EllisWyatt

If he were Republican, he wouldn’t been hired as a professor in the first place.

  • Joyce

Keep in mind that these people are teaching our children and a lot of them just may be kids he wished death on

  • Nanaof3kids

Conservatives are by and large Christian (not all) but certainly would never wish the death of someones child. What a vile and hateful thing to say. He either had no children or is so despicable he would be one who also thinks that babies should be aborted. There is no more violent act than burning a baby or choping it to pieces in it’s mothers womb with no place to hide and no one to protect it from it’s murderer. But liberals think that kind of murder is acceptable.

  • blbarrett52

There is a difference between free speech and hate speech Mr. Guth. Hateful person spewing hate filled words.

TocksNedlog is right. There is no difference between free speech and hate speech.

How much do you want to bet that if there had been no backlash that all we would be hearing is … silence.

  • patrickhenry13

has to be a way to get him fired,o’reilly got a prof. last month fired maybe he can help with this one,
after that? a slow death on a ant hill covered in liberal goo sounds like a fit punisment!!!!!!!!

  • straitsight

No mention of the known mental problems just a rant opposing legal gun owners by a member of the “tolerance” party that wishes good people would be killed. Good job professor Dum Bass.

  • Frustrated Teacher

He’s lucky he didn’t say anything Conservative (like against Gay marriage or abortion) because they would have canned him so fast his head would spin…..#doublestandards

    • TocksNedlog

  • ray

so far none of these kooks are members of the nra.

  • liberalssuck

This is the striking difference between us and the libta4rds. We do not want to see another tragedy, Even tho we understand evil folks do evil deeds. With that said we do not wish it on anybody. This is why I contend they have a mental defect. They want more tragedies…

    • plumberskid

Exactly. If there were no more shooting tragedies, they wouldn’t have any reason to try to eliminate the 2nd Amendment, one less false issue to use as a recruiting tool to bring more libs into the fold. It’s the same reason that they want to keep people poor.

  • Citizen Loring

I find most “professors” to be quite useless.

    • Jeremy

      you would be right.

  • Buffalobob

That’s why I went to the better school to the west in the Little Apple with the best College Football Coach in the game! The hard core progressives have a motto “the ends justify the means!” They don’t care how they get there, what they have to do to get there. Just get there!

  • Unicorns and Rainbows

Lib professors produce nothing except more libs. We can do without either

  • fireandreamitchell

Actually KU, his tweets DO represent you. KU employees this meathead with taxpayer dollars and he preaches hate. No wonder people in this country have gotten more stupid over the years.

  • Jeremy

This is disgusting and many Professors think just like him.

  • HARP2

    Reported to the FBI professor.
That sounded like a threat to me.

Ha. Ultra-liberal Kansas University DUCKS the debate by parsing the issue. Typical douchebaggery from the “ivory tower” crowd.

  • 3am

    • Jeff Coil

If this guy knew anything about Christianity, he would know that asking God to “damn” anyone is a major sin.

  • Richard Hamilton

The US Constitution does not “provide” rights it protects them. If the govt could grant ‘rights’ it can also eliminate them. Oh, how wonderful if everyone understood the distinction and wisdom in this.

  • Roger Skelton

I like how the University of Kansas tries to disown “THEIR” professor (he doesn’t speak for the University) NO HE DOESN’T….. HE JUST SPEAKS INSIDE OF IT….. there isn’t any shame in this country anymore, because not just this professor needs to be shamed, but the University does also….. and to all the parents that send their kids to that University should put them in some other University next year… because I would…. even if my kid didn’t like it… because I would want to teach my kid that, that type of behavior would be unacceptable to me….. and I’m paying the bill.

  • Roger Skelton

david guth I’d have this to say to you “your a piece of shit of a man” and yes that wasn’t very gentleman like, but who say you’re a gentleman…..

  • Steve Kline

I would not allow my children to even consider this school as a possibility just from the ignorant response from both the moronic views of the so-called professor and the official reply that he doesn’t represent them. I beg to differ, when he’s affiliated with you and posting in public he is representing you, otherwise he’d use an anonymous identity.

  • It’s Dumplins!

I hope someone puts two in his knee caps.

  • SPQR9

Gun control activists are hateful, violent people. Probably why they project their weak character upon us all.

    • Just Another Guy

One reason they don’t want people to have guns is because they themselves are too emotionally immature to own one. But their hubris extends to believing that no one else should either.

  • righteousreverenddynamite

I am still waiting for his “blog” to comment on the illegal Fast & Furious operation created by Atty. Gen. Holder that has left about 300 poor and helpless Mexicans dead (and 2 US agents) if he hate guns sooooooo much. Oh well…..(Then again, I am still waiting for the U. of Notre Dame to rescind Obama’s honorary degree given that he has done everything possible to mock and spite Christians, with Catholics in particular..)

  • notpilgrims2

Lots of professors are employed by KU. How can you say they all speak for KU? They all have different opinions and stuff. KU noted that, “His personal tweet doesn’t represent KU. “

  • Benjamin Johnson

Too bad KU, this asshole DOES speak for you, whether you like it or not. I suspect most, if not all, of the ” people” running the school probably believe the same thing or close to it. Anyone who provides a dime or sends a child to a major American college is supporting this bullshit. All they give back is an army of part-time baristas. We as a people need to stop glorifying the ideal of college, American colleges have been a major part of this country’s utter destruction. There are other means of becoming educated.

  • John Howard

Is their any doubt the shooter’s politics aligned perfectly with this professor’s? UK should fire him immediately before his misplaced rage turns him into another mass killer.

  • mysty Blue

I wonder if the students have to “think” as he thinks, or FLUNK the class. That bears some looking into. He obviously has control issues, anger issues and I would not put it past him to be the next mass shooter. People with this kind of extreme hatred need to be watched closely. What will he do if he finds out there are children of or members of the NRA enrolled in his class? I would pull my child OUT of that class tomorrow. This guy IS the smoking gun.

  • JJooeey

    Fire the Bastard!

  • Johnny_Layabout

If he’d Tweeted an objection to gay marriage, he would have already been suspended for “fostering a climate of intolerance” or something.

Post birth abortion, I think they call it…

      • Jim Denney

I thought it was “fourth trimester” but it is hard to keep up with professional spinners.

        • TexSizzle

Fourth-trimester is the first 3 months after a full-term birth; then ass 4 more trimesters for each year of age thereafter. So a student who enters college at age 18.5 would be starting his/her 77th trimester.

  • Ann Tucker

University of Kansas If Professor Guth doesn’t speak for you , then who does, the stone buildings ? He’s your hire, and he teaches the predominately young whose parents pay the cost of their attendance . Bull . This is not tolerable anymore here.

  • Just Another Guy

Typical liberal…cowardice of his “convictions” and unable to actually engage in a reasoned discussion.

  • o0Nighthawk0o

But let him drop the n- word or say something bad about Obama and he’d be on the streets faster than Paula Deen.

  • USPatriot

The parents WALLETS speak louder than the professors first amendment. Call the president of the university and demand his dismissal.

I wonder if the hearts of the university would go out to the victims, if they were children of NRA members.

  • Alan Weegens

Bill Clinton made Military facilities Gun Free Zones while President .
Then Foot Hood, and now the Navel Facility .
How many lives could have been saved, had the people, been allowed to carry ?

The discussion should focus on untreated mental illness not guns. What an ugly and hateful comment from a supposedly “intellectual” man.

  • floridavet

The liberal party of intellectuals that brought you “Women’s Rights To An Abortion” now brings you a wish for death and destruction on your children. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

  • Clete Torres

Wonder how many NRA members were shot last night in Shitcago?

    • QueenB

Well, we had 22 shot, 2 dead last night. Not sure on the level of NRA membership though.

Just a guess but it is fair to say ZERO!! What the hell is a 3 yr old doing out at night to be one of the ones shot?? Rahmbo is a JOKE for a Mayor!!

  • felicityva

Wishing death on other people’s children is low, even for liberal standards. One word…karma.

    • Debbie Butler

Disgusting for that prof. who said that

  • linda15419

What a nasty, evil thing to say. Perhaps this illustrates why some KU professors have no street cred with many. I can’t imagine wishing death to someone’s children merely because their beliefs are different from yours. Especially since those beliefs are specifically written in the Amendments to the Bill of Rights. Does this guy have children of his own? And for KU to cop out with “His personal tweet doesn’t represent KU” is unbelievable! Of course it represents KU! It tells the world that this guy is full of hate for a significant segment of the population some of whom may be in his classroom. He is entitled to his opinion, but when does good sense and situational awareness trump stupidity? If I were a parent of a student at KU (never happen), you can believe I would be standing on the desk of the provost demanding this professor’s release from his contract.

  • sheldon

I’d love to bitch slap him around in front of his classroom. Wonder what his kids think of his idiotic statement. What if someone said that about them? He needs to be on unemployment and obamacare.

  • Maggie Nostic

So he assumes that none of the people killed were children of NRA members or members themselves? Are all crime victims liberals? Or are all liberals just victim mentality haters?

  • Ax Hayssen

hide behind the 1st while you bitch about the second

  • $18912735

  • Greyson Wolfe 75

@DWguth…and what makes you think that God’s justice is in your favor. Pathetic POS. Our young people are doomed if they have professors like him in their classrooms. and @KUNews…have you checked on him to see if he’s spewing his vulgarity and hatefulness in the classroom. Maybe you should.

  • Greyson Wolfe 75

in reality…@DWguth could be considered a terrorist. Sounds like a threat to me.

  • QueenB

I do love when the “open-minded tolerants” wish death on other people’s kids because the parent’s don’t agree with their political beliefs. Seems akin to hoping a man or woman who supports abortion constantly suffers miscarriages when they decide it is the “right time” to have kids.

  • pbhuckleberry

As he wishes to murder others he makes a false claim to justify his wicked ways while following in a murder’s footsteps ; he is only one step away from the murderer.

  • Suzyqpie

A fine candidate for the Ward Churchill Teaching Award. Perhaps Guth’s career will meet a similar fate.

  • Richard Jefferies

KU you are bunch of hypocrites! If a professor had made the same comment about anyone else’s children his ass would be out the door.

For this professor, it sounds like he is encouraging school shootings. I’ll bet if one of your students came in with an NRA shirt, your free speech platitudes would go right out the window. I’m so freaking angry right now I can’t even articulate. No, professor, god damn you for putting out the mush headed journalists who are most concerned with political activism than reporting the truth.

  • $8515856

You sir are the lowest form of slime that inhabits the Earth. Because you are a lace pantied liberal who would rather blame the NRA rather then address the real problem, people that are supposed to be checking backgrounds, people that are supposed to be guarding secure places who are not doing their job. I hope you and your family are the victims of a home invasion, and as you lie their wishing you had a weapon to defend your wife and children rather the begging for mercy from your assailants.

  • Misty

Perhaps this college professor is too ignorant to realize that the shooting happened in a “GUN FREE ZONE”. If those men in the Naval Yard were allowed to carry their weapons, perhaps the shooter would have been stopped immediately after he started shooting! This shooting is a prime example of how we are all sitting targets if the libtards get their way and take away our weapons. How much you want to bet the crazy shootist did not obtain his weapons legally? I suppose the makers of bats are damned and personally responsible for thugs beating to death an 88 yr old veteran in Spokane, WA; or wait, the makers of knives because thousands are stabbed to death annually. The man is a college professor yet he is too ignorant to realize we have a mental health and terrorist problem? A breakdown of the family problem? Havent the liberals damaged this once great Country enough?!!! I think the best solution is for them to just move to Russia..Oh wait, even they realized that socialism failed their Country. How about asking Holocaust survivors what they think about taking our guns away. To blame the NRA for this shooting is the same as blaming a College Professor for a student failing. On a final note, DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT, even consider for a moment that our God would intentionally have his children murdered because you think you can determine justice David! If I were you, I would start repenting.

  • lewrod

Now I’m beginning to understand why so many college graduates are now unable to find jobs. With these kinds of professors they certainly aren’t learning how to do any critical thinking. Indoctrination over real education now seems to be prevalent. So glad to have grown up in the 50s and 60s.

Chances are that some of the people hurt or killed were the children of NRA members. Does that make you feel better Mr.Guth? Do we now divide up the victims of this tragedy and onlt feel bad for the ones who didn’t have parents who were NRA members?

  • Mary123s

I’m a lib and vote Dem, but how in the heck is the NRA responsible for the actions of one man? He wasn’t even a member, was he?

There are special places in hell for “people” like this.

If Clinton hadn’t disarmed our military bases, this wouldn’t be able to happen. It’s not the prevalence of guns that’s the problem, but the scarcity of guns in the right hands.
