A warning from “Imminent Ned” is the perfect symbol for what is about to blindside millions of Americans. Here’s what Sen. Cruz, who for now we’ll refer to as “Imminent Ted,” is referring to:

A rude awakening is on the way for many.

What really sucks about Obamacare is that it forces you to get health insurance or you get hit with a pretty hefty fine. But what if you’re unemployed and barely surviving now. Then you can neither afford healthcare or a fine. That shows how detached the Democrats are from the realities of how tough the economy is on the American people. They are shoving this crap down our throats, but have made sure we can’t afford it either way. It’s just a way to wage war on the poor. And Obama’s new job killing anti-coal policies and his other regulations on energy are going to raise energy prices for Americans. And that’s just going to insure that the poor have an even tougher time making ends meat in this country. The make believe war on women is the main focus of leftist idiots. But the real war is Obama’s war on the poor.

    • Christy Scott

That’s precisely where I am. I don’t know what in the world I am going to do. There is no spare money for a fine.

I’m right there with you. I can’t find work in my town. Businesses are shutting their doors or cutting hours. Over half of the businesses in my town have a hiring freeze in place. And it’s all because of Obamacare. I know all of the managers at my local Wal-Mart very well. And they said they can’t even hire because they are worried about the cost of Obamacare. I can’t pay the fine, and I can’t pay for health insurance.

      • EastValleyConservative

Exactly Phil. What people do not understand is that this is actually a mere framework by which to make some people pay for others’ healthcare. Many forget that MILLIONS were granted waivers, and the most hypocritical bunch that doesn’t have to live under this law is those that created the law. I am in the process of buying a non-major medical plan, I was curious as to whether it would be cancelled due to ObamaCare. The representative said no, it would not be cancelled, but that each year I would have a fine due to the government because it doesn’t meet the requirements. It will increase every year.

    • Squirrel!

I asked someone I know who works at the Dept of Insurance in LA about it. She said medicaid is still in place for the poor & medicare for the elderly. I think it’s meant to hit middle class people & small businesses. She, too, seemed unsure of how this is going to work even though they’ve had to go to some training on it. Anyway, that’s all I know.

    • BeukendaalMason

I would think that the unemployed would be exempt from purchasing health insurance, I would be interested if someone could confirm that the unemployed really did have to still have health insurance (a quote from the bill… haha fat chance). The other knife twist is that the penalty (er “tax”) only enriches the government and does nothing to benefit insurance companies or those trying to get health insurance. And yes, Obama’s continuous Great Depression (caused by his policies) is the real “war on everyone”.

      • jandbcinAZ

Each State is suppose to set up Exchanges- and as I have been hearing part of the Exchanges are for the people who Need and Can’t Afford Insurance – so If you are unemployed it would have to be that there is a State Medicaid- program- That is why our Gov. in AZ began to push to Accept it- because otherwise she would not receive the Federal Funds and So many would not be able to get Coverage… it has been a HOT topic.

quote- “Under Obamacare, uninsured Americans will face a phased in penalty structure. In 2014, the fine will be $95 per person and will climb to $695 in 2016 for people who earn between $9,500 to $37,000 a year. From there, says Henry Blodget of Business Insider, the fines increase:

    Less than $9,500 income = $0

    $9,500 – $37,000 income = $695

    $50,000 income = $1,000

    $75,000 income = $1,600

    $100,000 income = $2,250

    $125,000 income = $2,900

    $150,000 income = $3,500

    $175,000 income = $4,100

    $200,000 income = $4,700

US Govt Obamacare fine implementation takes effect 1 January 2014.

Can anyone say govt tyranny is here ! The govt, sanctioned, rubber stamped and
pre-approved naïve, ignorant, indifferent, and apathetic low information voters, then by SC JC John Roberts, that govt. can- and now does- tell / forces any citizen of America to either purchase a specific product they do not want, or they will be fined, and or have their wages garnished, and or have their property confiscated and sold.

    • Adela Wagner

From what i saw, there will be a worksheet included with your tax forms. You will check the months of that year you HAD insurance, any months that you DID NOT have insurance will be added up, then multiplied by the penalty after dividing it by 12. If you had any insurance during the year you will pay the pro-rated amount of penalty.

Also, just because you have paid the penalty for NOT having insurance, does NOT MEAN you now have insurance. You have only paid a PENALTY…period.

So then you can go and check into the Obamacare exchanges, or shop around for your own astronomically over blown Insurance premiums to pay.

And there won’t be much left of company discounted insurance. More and more will do away with employer based group insurance as it will be cheaper for companies to pay the penalties if they have full time employees, or to downsize to less than 50 part-time employees (29 hours so no danger of going over) and not have to pay penalties. THIS is why it will hurt the working poor the worst. There will be VERY FEW full time jobs. Lot’s more crappy part time jobs with NO benefits…thanks Obama voters.

So my advice to those looking for a job…find a way to get into healthcare, or accounting. Or get a group of people together(you KNOW you can live around), pool your money and resources, learn all skills that you can for self sufficiency and self protection, buy some wooded land in a poor county where the property taxes are low. Homestead some trailers or build shelters using salvaged materials or slab wood from a mill. Get some chickens, build a chicken tractor (look it up), put in a rain catch system or a cistern, dig at least a 25ft well, build a knock off big berkey water filter, grow food, can food, get a woodstove to heat with and cook on, visit backwoodshome.com and other self reliant sites, LEARN all you can about first aid and brewing beer…..the list goes on. Then make the least amount of money you can get by on and learn about bartering that food you grow and that beer you make, and anything else you can, like repair work. And tell Obama…care to KMA.

Sorry this is so long, but these things are important to me and it’s the best advice this old lady can give her friends.

      • ceyanne

So I wonder what happens to a person who switches jobs. Many places, if they even offer insurance, will not insure you from day 1. You often have to wait 30 to 90 days before you get coverage. If my husband were to switch jobs and then have a 90 day waiting period, are we going to be fined for those 3 mos.? I’m going to guess yes because they will say there’s COBRA or whatever. Nevermind that the cost of that is astronomical. They are going to get you for a buck any way they can.

        • Adela Wagner

Exactly. Just this one scenario shows what a poorly written POS this is. Just the added regulations are now at over 20,000 pages and stacking at 7.5 feet high. How in the world is ANYONE going to be able to wade through any of that…and I fear that is the point. Make it so cumbersome, so confusing, so time consuming, those that do try to follow this “law/tax” will end up in trouble with the IRS because “ignorance of the law is no excuse”…or they will (and have been) just giving up and closing their business.

          • RedSoloCup

It’s going to fail BIG TIME.

COBRA for those 30-90 days. Really expensive so would probably be best to pay the prorated tax, er penalty, er tax. Whatever.

      • RedSoloCup

      • Ty Mcwilliams

        Perfect summation. Thanks

    • RedSoloCup

      One word: Unconstitutional.

Thankfully I have already exempted myself from this mess.

      • dchrist81

and how do you exempt yourself from Obama(doesn’t)care?

        • Adela Wagner

The law makes a number of exemptions for low-income persons and hardship cases. My husband is retired and gets less than 9,500 from social security. I’m a small grower who sells locally, I also repurpose clothing and am a metalsmith, selling clothing and jewelry online. I will be making sure not to go over the threshold below for a married couple, when get close to it, I will be donating more food than I do now instead of selling it.

Here are the current rules for Exemptions:
“Individuals who cannot afford coverage”: If an
employer offers coverage that would cost the employee more than 8
percent of his or her household income (for self-only coverage) that
individual is exempt from the tax.

“Taxpayers with income below filing threshold”: Also
exempt are those who earn too little to be required to file tax
returns. For 2011 — as previously mentioned — those thresholds were $9,500 for a single person
under age 65, and $19,000 for a married person filing jointly with a
spouse, for example. The thresholds go up each year in line with
inflation, so those cut-offs will be higher in 2014, when the tax first
          takes effect.

“Hardships”: The Secretary of Health and Human
Services is empowered to exempt others that she or he determines to
“have suffered a hardship with respect to the capability to obtain
          coverage.”

Other exemptions: Also exempt are members of Indian
tribes, persons with only brief gaps in coverage, and members of certain
religious groups currently exempt from Social Security taxes (which as we’ve previously reported are chiefly Anabaptist — that is, Mennonite, Amish or Hutterite).

          • Ty Mcwilliams

Amish huh? May have to look into that.
