Wow, is the Senate’s 51-43 party line confirmation of Surgeon General Vivek Murthy really such a blow to the Second Amendment and the Bill of Rights? Townhall’s Katie Pavlich calls the whole thing “a damn disaster.”
This is a damn disaster http://t.co/mg8MvH0uOV #2A

@KatiePavlich what isn't a disaster these days. You just get used to it time after time and no one is pushing back. I'm disheartened.

@KatiePavlich How does a Surgeon General have any affect on the 2nd Amendment? … Curious…

Pavlich has the answers in her March 2014 Townhall tipsheet on Murthy, which includes research from TheBlaze and the NRA. Murthy, president of Doctors for America, which grew from the campaign organization Doctors for Obama, strongly supported the passage of Obamacare and fought a Florida law that would have prevented doctors from including gun ownership in a person’s medical file.
He also tweeted during the 2012 campaign that “Guns are a health care issue,” rather than a political issue (or Constitutional right for that matter).

@KatiePavlich I totally agree, Looks like all of Obama's Ducks are lining up nicely.

Is the best we can hope for is that Murthy is as effective and influential as previous surgeon generals?
@KatiePavlich No worries. SurGen is powerless largely figurehead appointment. Remember all the good Koop did? Neither do I.

He should fit in well with the rest of the administration, then.
