A couple of people complaining? It’s almost as if the entire Left isn’t used to being accused of racism every single day, or being dismissed as “anti-science.” While conservatives have had to build up a tolerance to such slander, liberals needed a sort of online group therapy session to work through “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak’s confounding tweet late Monday night:

Conservatives seemed to recognize a parody of hollow liberal outrage when they saw it.

However, members of the Church of Climate Change didn’t see anything funny about it.

Congratulations to the folks at Talking Points Memo for acknowledging trolling when they see it:

The leftist meltdown was kind of fun to watch, wasn’t it?

Time to step up your game, Mr. Searcy.

A Tweet such as Pat Sajak’s, even if Lefties don’t get it that it’s satirical trolling, is enough of a head-scratcher that they should say “WTF?” and ask themselves, what brought that on? But that would require that they have enough self-awareness to realize it is their own irresponsible use of the language which undercuts any attempts on their part to communicate with anyone who is not a doctrinaire Leftie, and who has something of a functioning brain.

Obviously you can see now why the most perspicacious amongst them have decided that the only way to succeed is by dumbing the population down.

    • unknown

Yet they know when Colbert is being “satirical” (well, some do anyways)

      • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Sure– by using an offensive term for a group unrelated to a controversy, and making like it’s a conservative who would be dumb enough to do so in such a situation. And then telling the gratuitously-included ethnicity not to be offended, and touting those of that ethnicity who rolled over and played dead, when others complained.

Oh, yeah, satirical– you know what? I’m gonna start talking in a Carroll O’Connor imitation for no apparent reason, and start using offensive terms at inappropriate times in conversations that do not even pertain, and then claim, “Satire– I’m making fun of the Archie Bunkers of the world!” and see how far I get.

Whenever the Left gets on their “anti-science” BS kick I just counter with how THEY are anti-science. Why? Vaccines and autism. BOOM.

    • Onyx

Do you imagine that anti-vaxxers are as politically homogeneous as climate change deniers? They’re not. They’re still mostly Republicans, of course (anti-science is as anti-science does), but it’s less strongly one-sided. Climate change denial, on the other hand, is pretty well quarantined to the American right wing.

      • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Site? Show your facts, not your stupidity.

        • Onyx

          Well, here’s a poll: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2011/PPP_Release_National_ConspiracyTheories_040213.pdf

I’m sure you could find other ones corroborating the results. Why is it surprising, anyway? Republicans hate government, government says vaccines are safe; ergo, Republicans think vaccines cause autism.

          • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

Ahhh a poll is your proof? Nice one.

          • Onyx

As opposed to what? When you want to know how many people, and which people, believe something, what do you use? A Ouija board?

          • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

People’s beliefs can change daily. That poll sampled what, roughly 1200 people and this is supposed to apply to 300+ million? And how do you know the people that were polled gave legitimate answers as to their beliefs? I leave the use of Ouija boards to those involved in wicked things. Wouldn’t touch one.
Also of note, you responded to this post with your snide Ouija comment, but didn’t respond to the actual science question I posed to you in this same string. I find that more interesting than your attempt at snark. If we polled 1200 people on that, want to guess what people would determine about you?

          • Onyx

Your question about eggs and abortion and turtles wasn’t remotely on topic. Determining what species to protect and whether abortion should be legal are policy questions, not scientific questions. (For you anti-science folks.)

          • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

It was quite on topic since it has to do with science and anti-science. Determining life vs not life is not policy, it’s science.

          • Onyx

Oh dear. Determining “life” vs “not life” isn’t science *or* policy; it’s nomenclature, like determining whether Pluto is a planet or not a planet. It has no bearing on the legality of abortion. Pray tell, what scientific question do you think is in dispute there? There’s no disagreement about whether a fetus is alive, or whether it’s human, or whether it would develop into a baby if properly cared for, or whether it can survive on its own. (Spoilers: yes, yes, yes, no.) Where does that get you with resolving the question of what the law should be?

          • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

It is science…not nomenclature. It’s either a living thing or it isn’t. If it’s a life inside the womb, and you kill that life…the law should be murder. Whether or not it can survive on it’s own has no bearing. Lots of lives can’t survive on their own. Say a 1 year old, or a physically/mentally challenged person who needs around the clock care. It is murder to kill these lives who can’t survive on their own. So your argument has no merit.

          • Onyx

I’m not taking a position on what the law should be. Yes, a fetus is a living thing (and I’ll even stipulate that it’s human); and I agree that whether it can survive on its own is a red herring: neither can a newborn, at least not for long, and certainly killing a newborn is murder. But no one is arguing these points. They don’t do anything to resolve the debate.

          • ForTheRepublicOfDave

Don’t worry about Onyx too much, Ma’am. He’s a know-nothing coward with a predictable plan of action whenever he makes an asinine comment like the one above:

            1. Respond quickly
            2. Wait at least 30 minutes or more, hoping he is ignored
            3. Pull a Sir Robin, and bravely run away

          • MassConservative

This is BS. If Republicans are the anti-vaxxers, then why are all the measles outbreaks happening in the most leftist enclaves? And why are vaccine rates much lower in schools in leftist areas? Own it, lefties.

      • grais

I look forward to seeing your proof.

      • mrspinky85

Go attack Howard Dean for calling Republicans unpatriotic. Y’all jumped all over this though. Whatever.

      • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

Remind me again why the eggs of certain birds and turtles are precious and it’s illegal to mess with them? And then tell me why abortion is ok? You know…for us anti-science folks.

Note that liberals claim their views are purely scientifically driven, yet they do not believe in the very scientifically driven “survival of the fittest”, especially when it comes to economics. • Patrick Klocek

I do accept the position that most of the environmentalists are racists. Most environmentalists are focused on limiting production of fossil fuels (the cheapest form of energy on Earth) and encouraging only the consumption of very expensive and unreliable wind and solar. It is well known, that most of the world’s dark-skinned people are chronically poor and cannot afford wind or solar power. Depriving them of fossil fuels will act as a status lock on the 3rd World. Since this is self-evident, I have no doubt that Leftists and Eco-activists must have factored this in to their thinking as either a benefit or, at best, a non-issue. The world’s white people — overwhelmingly wealthy, can afford wind and solar power.

    • Perry

Do away with fossil fuels, allow 40 million illegals to become legal in an already lousy economy, massive debt buildup and the collapse of the dollar looms, the U.S. will BE a third world country. We’re headed there fast as it is.

      • Patrick Klocek

People are not stupid — usually — and it doesn’t matter if they are from Honduras or Sweden. If the US stops being a dynamic economy (as Obama hopes) then most of those 40 million illegals will simply drift back home. Another 10-20% of the US that comes from other relatively nice countries (Canada, Australia, Europe, China, India, Mexico, Israel, Brazil, etc) will also return home. That’s 30-50 million people right there. Then there are millions more who may be eligible for German, Israeli, or Irish or Spanish passports through their ancestry. If Obama gets his way — the US could empty out much faster than it filled up. It is conceivable that we could lose 100 million people in the space of a couple years.

        • Perry

I’vbe said before that when the dollar collapses, people will be headed back across the border. Some U.S. citizens, too.

Even Lorne Michaels of SNL understand that Leftwingnuts have NO sense of humor.

But then, it’s easy to dismiss Regressive attacks… just use a little fact, a dash of logic and a pinch of history and VIOLA!! Lib-Off!

This was brilliant. Look how many media outlets were tripping over themselves to quickly and aggressively condemn somebody for making an unfounded connection to racism when it comes to ones of their issues. I would say that that they “took the bait,” except I don’t think even Sajak expected that they would end up being so open and revealing about whose side they’re really on.

This reminds me of that incident when Red Eye engaged in self-mockery of the Right while making a joke about Obama putting his feet on his desk, and then Jon Stewart just went ahead and aired the clip as if they were being serious. It’s like they literally believe that it’s understandable for The Intellectual Class to engage in joking and mockery of The Other Side, but it’s inconceivable that any of their brilliant and progressive ideas could be subject to any mockery so therefore it must not be a joke.

It’s like the one time when a conservative commentator tweeted something Joe Biden said (something regarding light skin or negro dialect) and he was mercilessly attacked for it. Love it.
