It’s not exactly like that. He left out the part where Sen. Harry Reid claims you’re lying about your window having been punched out.

  • AwakenNow

Again, Ted Cruz makes sense and gets it right.

    • http://twitter.com/THE_DAILY_BLEAT VACUOUS CIPHER

It’s a good analogy between creeping socialism and other crimes, generally.

  • JeffWRidge

That’s pretty accurate as analogies go. I would add that they would also require that you pay for car windows for other people who didn’t have cars at the time, and many who didn’t even want one.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

And your windows are much more expensive than your old ones because of your having to cover for people who won’t work and buy their own windows.

      • Roto ✓Intentionally Left Blank

And if your window is broken during any 3-month period in the year, a Federal Marshall gives you a ticket worth 1% of your salary.

      • DwellsInFire

Plus they would make you cover yourself for things that don’t apply to you like broken tinted windows, broken bulletproof windows, broken airplane and helicopter windows, maternity care, pediatric care, and mental illness.

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

And then they brag about the popularity of their service even though it’s mandated and they are threatening penalties for not obeying them. They also promise if you like your window, you can keep your window, PERIOD. Then break them out and pretend you’re the a**hole for not being grateful. and then you have liberal idiots saying, “Your old windows were junk windows.”

Then they call the opposition terrorists for wanting to delay the service because they know it’ll cause windows to be broken for people who like them. Then the head of the service decides to delay it on their own to avoid their party paying the price for breaking windows in an election year, effectively doing what they called the opposition terrorists for wanting to do.

Then a senile old idiot comes along and stands on the Senate floor and calls everyone with broken windows “liars”, then lies and claims to never have said it.

  • Maxx

I do think it’s hysterical that delays attempted by Cruz in October were deemed terrorism by the left while the very delays decreed by King Obama leading up to March 31 were all “nuanced” adjustments.

Sadly, this “we’ll figure it out as we go” style of leadership and governance is historically, the kind it takes years to recover from but I suppose, we’ve got to start sometime….and soon.

    I suggest November 2014.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

This is what happens when the libs vote based solely on skin color instead of merit.

      • frank fitzsimmons

Merit? Hardly. Ted Cruz has no merit and no sense.

        • Maxx

An interesting opinion, noting liberal royalty Alan Dershowitz’s thoughts on his former student:

“Without a doubt he is among the smartest students I’ve ever had… I’ve had great students but he has to be at the top of anyone’s short list, in terms of raw brain power.”

          http://dailycaller.com/2013/05/09/dershowitz-tex-cruz-one-of-harvard-laws-smartest-students/

Forgive me if I side with Alan on this one.

          • frank fitzsimmons

Smart and brain power doesn’t equal merit and sense.

Look, you can be a heck of a lot smarter then some people, but not have a lick of common sense !! These people you put in office are the most corrupted group ever, the only way you can’t see that is either you’re (how’s that?) Just as corrupt, or a complete idiot !!!!!
These people don’t care about you, its all about power, so if you’re part of the victim class and really think this administration has your interest at heart, you’re sadly mistaken………

          • frank fitzsimmons

That’s exactly what the affordable health care act does. It does a great job of leveling the playing field with regard to equal health care for all. If you think Teddy boy has any
regard for the common folk you are clearly delusional.

    • Maryland_Malcontent

Ah, November 2014. I hope it is a success but if other states are like mine, which I pray that they aren’t, it probably won’t be.

Do any of y’all happen to know the MD Republican candidates for anything off the top of your head? If not, you’re in with a lot of Marylanders, myself and the GOP included. MD is said to be “America in Miniature” and here we have a state ravaged by liberalism and ripe for conservative change and, like in much of America, the conservatives/republicans aren’t even trying.

Our democrat choices for MD governor are a nutjob, a Charlie Sheen wannabe and obama lite and, despite the damage liberalism has done here, one of ’em will likely win/

The Mitch McConnell/Reince Priebus “coast to success” plan :(

      • mrspinky85

This is why I don’t live in Maryland. I was happy when the Ravens won the Super bowl but that’s as far as I go. My family sees us just fine on Skype.

        • Maryland_Malcontent

Funny how a state that is red on the sides and largely red in the middle can be Blue where it counts. I guess it comes down to the democrats and their unethical antics, but it really comes down to the 48 states that grew DC-and enabled those antics-while being relatively immune to the consequences of doing so.

That said, if only the GOP would try a Republican could easily become the Governor of MD this year. Each year CPAC is held in the bluest county in all of MD and never do they try and paint that county, or any part of MD/VA, red. It annoys me to no end. Might as well just move CPAC to a red state and cut out the hypocrisy.

          • mrspinky85

Yea. I think big cities in the U.S. can see left policies are ruining their areas. Conservatives have to show up where these principles are actually needed instead of idiotic strategies like you mentioned. Baltimore is dangerous and I would love to see my hometown improve. Liberal policies won’t do it.

We don’t even know where the lies end and the truth begins with bho. Though I am a bit o_0 that you’re considering spinning a web of lies about one’s backstory and entire life to be more commendable than, well, anything.

Just about the only thing that we have to go on is the rule-of-thumb that “if he is speaking, he is lying”.

        • Eric D. Mertz #NeverTrump

To be fair, unless his parents brought it up, its plausible Cruz thought either 1. that he wasn’t Canadian or 2. that his parents had taken care of it while he was young. Should he have looked into it before running? IMHO, yes. But that doesn’t mean he was negligent.

Besides, the very fact we can have this debate about him shows we already know more concrete details about Cruz’s past than we do about Obama.

The Broken Window theory is the reason I first started reading Bastiat. If Cruz is doing so as well, he just moved up a tic on my respectability index…

    • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Part of Bastiat’s point was that, while we don’t wish the glazier ill and want him to go out of business, we also don’t want him to drum up his own business at the expense of the other shopkeepers. That would serve only to distort the market sufficiently that it would prevent the other shopkeepers from investing in their OWN businesses, and make them have to wait for their trade with the glazier to have some of their money returned to them. If the glazier didn’t understand the nature and demand of his business, he had no business ever to have gone into it.

      • NRPax

Another thing with the broken window fallacy: What if the businessman whose window is broken decides that he’s had enough of working in this crime-ridden s***hole and moves to another city?

    • BAW

I think anyone who actually listens to what Cruz says, and not what others say about him, will gain greater and greater respect. He is incredibly smart and he’s right about just about everything (qualified only because he is human and he’s got to be wrong about something, I just haven’t figured out what yet).

      • Eric D. Mertz #NeverTrump

Mine’s graded, so the higher up one is, the harder it is to improve the position and the easier it is to fall off entirely. Cruz is already pretty high on that index as it is, reading Bastiat is enough to earn a boost in my books. Even if he disagrees with the old, dead Frenchman…

        • BAW

          But, but, but….

I understand how once you’ve got an A it’s harder to get the A+ but wouldn’t the graded system make it harder to fall off entirely? Having extensive accumulated work to get the A isn’t it harder to knock it down to a C, a D, an F?

          • Eric D. Mertz #NeverTrump

It’s an ad hoc system, but mainly it is harder to surprise me by doing something good if one is consistently good than it is to surprise me by doing bad.

After reading this article for the second time, we have decided ‘again and again’ that it’s not the number who signed up, it’s the $$$ signs that they only care about, and not where they acquire the $$$$’s from or how.

45 Mil uninsured – (minus) 7.1 Mil signed up (and of course we don’t know the count of whose paid or not) equals = 38 Mil not insured at all, multiplied by the penalty of $95.00 (minimum) would be = $3.61 Billion dollars that 0bamaGovt will acquire in just penalty $$$ if they didn’t sign up. Paying doesn’t mean anything… remember, because they will subsidize with our Medicaid Taxes, Medicare Taxes, Social Security Taxes, and higher premiums, etc….

And then, there is that other piece of 0bamaCrap that the working tax payer will have to deal with and be good little do as we are told to do, and don’t do like they do…What will 0bamaGovt name the “subsidy tax” that we working taxpayer will have to pay to make up the difference for 0bamaCare enrollees, let alone highest premiums and deductibles, and co-pay in the history? Of course, employers are still hanging in the balance with all this, let alone doctors and hospitals, too.

    Affordable HealthCare Act a.k.a. 0bamaCare

It is absolutely infuriating to us financially, and all of our other logical human senses that 0bama has and continues to wield 0bamaCare/ACA as though it was some inalienable right; that your neighbor is to pay for you to take care of you and if you don’t then, some doctor will appear out of nowhere and on the scene and care for you because it’s your 0bamaCare right. When we are all being impugned in so many ways, shapes forms or fashions, and that he has affiliates 1100 plus groups, that spew, lies and lies about people that worked all their living lives, paid Medicaid Taxes and still do, paid Medicare taxes and still do, paid Social Security Taxes and still do and they didn’t put those taxes in a lockbox they’ve stolen from them, and yet we’ve been doing the right thing, it is more than sickening to be stolen from in so many directions, and has frozen each of us in to a stillness that just won’t go away. As in what will happen next, to all of us, because we know that all this is wrong, very wrong. This all has to stop and it has to be repealed. Prohibition was repealed, so we know that this is a battle that can and will be won. Give it all you have Senator. We will NOT stop loving America, we will NOT be afraid of her, yet very afraid of 0bama’s Government, yet you have to know America will not walk away and…
