A very obviously fake “OfficiaI_CNN” tweet (found in bay?) couldn’t even get the flight number right, but it did manage to rack up more than a thousand retweets and 600 favorites.

It’s the “network’s” second scoop, following its announcement of the death of actor Will Smith at age 45.

To be fair, the real CNN seems pretty fake these days. This is just another reminder to people, check your sources before believing them.

After actual CNN “black holes” and “zombies”, I’d call this spoof straight from the Dept of: Might As Well Be

NBC/MSNBC/CNN need to start immediately tagging everything they produce with the disclaimer: “This is Not The Onion”

        Who runs that department?
        Itcant B. Anyworse?

      • Janice LEE

CNN has moved on from black holes, zombies, and now refers to ‘ghost’ plane.

  • Steve__Jacobson

How bad is it when a fake CNN account is taken as the account of the real fake CNN network?

    • H50 ✓RAT

Pretty bad. But really, somebody is a pretty sick twist to do a parody like this.

There is no truth to the rumor that Dan Rather called this tweet “fake but accurate.”

  • Maxx

The only thing the “real” CNN has located is the bottom of Piers Morgan’s ratings.

  • JustLikeAnimals

Damn. I was sure Don Lemon(head)’s “black hole” theory was the won to beat.

  • neoface

That network should be on the bottom of the ocean!!!

  • Guest

It never crashed at all, it’s just shy!

  • Jack Deth

    Memo to CNN:

    1: Oceans are DEEP!

2: What you see is just what is on the TOP!

3: Airliners are heavy and SINK!

4: Chances are very good that debris will never be found. Even with a 688 or Boomer Class sonar looking!

I think compared to that mostly whimsical Gilligan’s Island photoshop, this one is sharply cruel to those families still holding out hope for the missing. (“Hey, look. Your loved one is in a watery grave. Look.”)

    Back to your normal programming:

It’s terrible when the spoofs make more sense than the actual journalists.

  • Jim Loveless

After they get a crystal ball reader on the show?this would have been tame.

  • stuckinIL4now

As I surfed by CNN, the Lemon was all over it late into the evening on Saturday and the Crow is there all over it again here on Sunday morning morning.

With the institutions of freedom, private property, and rule of law in place during the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, the citizens of the West voluntarily unleashed their abilities and created wealth on a scale never before seen.
