Danica Patrick stepped out from behind the wheel to co-host Tuesday’s American Country Awards. Do race car drivers make good hosts? That all depends on whom you ask.

We’re not sure all caps is going to do it.

    Crash-Patrick-Tacular!

  • nickdqwk

    Drives like a girl! “Lap Car, “Lap Car, “Lap Car” okay she has finished on the lead lap once in awhile.

    Listening to the commentators it is like well, sometimes watching NASCAR I feel like it’s the “Brady Bunch” “Danica, Danica,Danica”!

    • Brian Roastbeef

      Rusty Wallace in particular must think he has a chance with her. The most obsessed of the bunch.

      And to think I used to like him as a driver…

  • ItsGaryinaz66

    shes there because she looks good. not really different than carrie underwood and taylor swift.
    (disclaimer: they were both ok before they went pop)

  • bill_a_bob

    Was Gweneth Paltrow busy?

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

    Danica Patrick is very easy on the eyes. She never will have to win a race– she sells the sport anyway. That’s what she did in IndyCar. Yeah, I know– all you NASCAR fans love REAL racers– like Earnhardt, who never wins either.

    • Katelyn

      Earnhardt may not win often but at least he runs competitively. He can make the chase for the championship and finish in the top ten in points. He is a far better racer than she is.

      • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

        My point being that if you went strictly by results, Jimmie Johnson would be the highest-paid driver– and he is a handsome and pretty well-spoken sort of fellow to boot– but with endorsement deals etc, Dale Jr beats him, and Danica comes close, with nothing on the track justifying it in her case.

        • Katelyn

          I agree with you on that. My point is that if the two choices as far as the face of NASCAR, or the driver that is in the media the most representing the sport, are either Dale Jr or Danica Patrick then I’m going to pick Dale Jr because at least he runs competitively.

    • Brian Roastbeef

      Hey, I root for Matt Kenseth, who does so well Nascar has to change the point system regularly just to screw him.

  • LegalizeShemp

    Works both ways, Willie Nelson just hosted the Demolition Derby last week.

    • Brian Roastbeef

      Well to be fair, Danica hosts a demolition derby of her own 36 weeks out of the year.

      • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

        Sam Hornish used to do that, right after going into Cup from IndyCar (and he was a three-time champ of that series!), but he went on to become an excellent Nationwide Series driver. Too bad for her that that sort of option isn’t really there for Danica– too much money involved.

        • Brian Roastbeef

          No, poor Danica is stuck in a top tier team with the likes of Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, and Kurt Busch. She’ll never receive any sort of fair chance with Hendrick engines and a guaranteed sponsorship. If only she were lucky like Hornish, she would be needlessly fired from her Cup ride, demoted to the ranks of Nationwide Series journeyman, receive no press there thanks to Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski hogging every race, and then screwed out of her chance for the title because Nascar is openly in the tank for some connected rich dbag like Austin Dillon.

          Sorry if I sound bitter, but do trust me. I like Sam Hornish, Jr. Sam Hornish, Jr. is a favorite driver of mine. And Danica Patrick is no Sam Hornish, Jr.

          • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

            Waxin’ a li’l “Lloyd Bentsen” there!

            Sam the Slam (as in “on the brakes, and into a crash” during his time in Cup) at least got a TV gig on the late (and maybe “lamented”) SpeedChannel, though. He was able to get a few shekels on the side for that, which of course softens the blow tremendously. And you DO know Danica’s gonna get a TV gig somewhere somehow, sure as the sun rises.

          • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

            Never heard that, but I’ve heard him called “Sideways Sam” on Fox, TNT, NBC and ABC/ESPN! Jawamax 8<{D} #NASCAR

          • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

            That was from that infamous “crab-walker” car he had, the body of which was mounted at an angle so far off-center they finally had to outlaw it, in addition to his propensity to be turned that way. (“Sam the Slam”, a play on “Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs,” was my nickname for him, after that time he missed the pit road entrance at one of the road courses and went straight into the giant plastic water drums.)

        • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

          Hey, they both drive for great teams! Sam Drives for “The Captain,” Roger Penske, who has won Championships in CART, INDYCar, and NASCAR. And with Sam’s experience with higher speeds (as compared to say, Travis Pastrami-er, Pastrana, who is also an Extreme-Sports Driver (Such as the X-Games), which drive at slower speeds than NASCAR) is a big help to his Nationwide success.
          Danica Drives for Tony Stewart (Whom she is also in direct competition with) And Tom Haas, and in Nationwide (2011 and 2012), she drove for Dale Earnhart, Jr., where she learned the ropes, and is still learning with every race, and every lap.
          AND BTW My little brother Mike said he would strip Naked and swim in a Public fountain, and give me fifteen minutes to draw a crowd… I hope he likes cold water… XD Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Frustrated Teacher

    I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with this….:-)

  • roccolore

    A better host would have been Jimmie Johnson.

    • Roto ✓Intentionally Left Blank

      Clint Bowyer….

  • Brian Roastbeef

    She was only there because she still hasn’t finished the last race at Vegas. Granted now tonight has made history for the first award show to somehow finish 8 laps down.

  • Maxx

    Consider yourself lucky. The NASCAR rep in the dress could have been Dale Jarrett.

    • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

      “NASCAR rep in a dress”?

      I’d have thought “Michael Waltrip,” if I’m gonna be honest.
      Not that there would be anything wrong with it if he were.

      • Maxx

        I wasn’t painting that kind of picture but yeah, you make an interesting observation. Jarrett to me, is about as old school NASCAR as it gets but I’d rather see Danica in a dress than Dale in a tux.

      • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

        Now THAT would be COMEDY GENIUS!! Jawamax 8<{D}

  • CommieJuice

    So the face of NASCAR and country music is a liberal? Remember this line by the so-called racing star? “I leave it up to the government to make good decisions for Americans.”

    She’s been in 115 Indy car races, only won 1 minor 300 in Japan. She’s been in 106 NASCAR races and the best she’s done is 3rd place. If that is the kind of person NASCAR uses a representative along with the Country Music Awards, I see no further reason to watch or listen anymore. Why not just have the Dixie Chicks co-host with her next time?

  • Right Wired ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

    She is to racing what I am to ‘Chips Ahoy’ cookies.

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    I say, GO DANNI-GIRL!! KICK ASPHALT AND TAKE NAMES! BTW, in that home page headline picture, she reminds me of a very young Cindy Crawford… If Racing ever fails her, she has an excellent prospective back-up plan…or two… #NASCAR Jawamax 8<{D}

  • froggy19510

    The whole show was infantile. That was the worse award show I have ever seen.

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    Sorry for all the down votes, but you know..War on Women, or something…? Jawamax 8<{D}
