Today is the administration’s self-imposed deadline to roll out a properly functioning HealthCare.gov website. Is the site now free of those “glitches” that kept so many from being able to sign up? Now that poor HealthCare.gov Splash Page Stock Photo Girl has long gone missing, Caleb Howe has the perfect replacement model.

By the way, Howe certainly doesn’t need Photoshop to lower the boom on the president.

I think the more appropriate pic of the prevaricator-in-chief would show him with just one finger extended in defiance at what used to be a free country :( That’s really what this whole “health care reform” charade is about…

I think so, but does it really matter? No amount of luck can save that sinking ship.

    • Jazzee

yes about our healthcare he thinks it is a joke
but he cares less…he has “HIS” and all the money he stole from this country so the hell with us

  • Maxx

I hope the website is fixed and running flawlessly, so America can get to the main crux of why Obamacare is such a failure…because NO, you’re not going to keep your plan, your doctor and oh by the way, expect to pay more…

…a lot more, unless of course you’re naive enough to think free lunches are free for EVERYBODY.

This was a tourniquet solution to what essentially was a paper cut problem. Instead of addressing the health care needs of the uninsured with a scapel, Doc ‘Bama goes into surgery with Jason Vorhee’s machete and unravels the finest health care system on the planet.

    • Michelle ✓classified

Not only expect to pay more, but pay more for less coverage. Higher premiums for higher co-pays and higher deductibles. I’m still waiting to hear from any “average family” who is saving $2,300 a year as a result of Obamacare (another of his promises) but all I hear is *crickets*

      • HanaFiveO

Maybe they were talking about the subsides? The only way you can save that much on your insurance is if you get a $2,300 subsidy./

        • Michelle ✓classified

Don’t know what the cut-off is for other states, but for California if you make at least $37,000 you do not qualify for any subsidy. At least, that’s what I saw when I was running annual salaries through the site to see who got what. When I entered $37k, no subsidy and the cheapest plan is around $250/month. $37K is barely getting by with just general living expenses, $250/month is a serious hardship. Add onto that higher co-pays and a $5,000 deductible (for cheapest plan) and those folks will drown in medical bills, mostly the very same folks who had their affordable plans cancelled, the ones they were perfectly happy with.

This nightmare brings to mind The Carpenter’s song, “We’ve Only Just Begun” I’m already giggling at the fact that those who DID get a reasonable subsidy and didn’t bother to look at the benefits tables are gonna flip their lids once they learn they have to pay a $5,000 deductible before the % coverage even kicks on.

I’m stocking up on popcorn for the next year.

          • HanaFiveO

Yea, I was being sarcastic about all the doublespeak and nonsense. The evolution of Obamacare has pretty much devolved into a system of throwing poo against the wall to see what sticks.
The only things that really irk me about the whole mess is A) the people who are getting priced out of the market but are not eligible for subsides and B) The folks who thought that enrolling (after getting cancelled by their insurance) was sufficient for coverage, only to find out that you had to purchase insurance before the 15th to have coverage. They will be without insurance until the next open enrollment.
All because these idiots couldn’t keep their lies straight.
I agree that when folks go to use their “new insurance,” thats gonna be a whole new display of fireworks!

          • nc ✓s & balances

Sorry, I didn’t see this post when I made my comment above. GMTA!

          • Ryan Schneider.

Slowly, but surely, they are garotting the middle class, .and blocking all avenues to get there. The rich get richer, the poor get more dependent.

          • Michelle ✓classified

You are correct. Obamacare is a direct hit on the middle class. An individual making $37k/yr (before taxes!) doesn’t get any help paying that $250/month premium (and that’s the cheapest plan!) It’s disgusting on every level what The One and the Dems just did to the middle class. I am not against poor people getting insurance, but to make the middle class suffer for that to happen was a very, very wrong way to go about it.

          • Jazzee

the ‘poor’ are thrown into Medicaid
so why destroy ours?????????????? the dictator is out of control eh???

        • Michelle ✓classified

Ooops, so my answer below totally was off topic to your comment (had a brain fart). I believe the way Barry conveyed the idea of a $2,300 savings for a family was from his incredibly misguided belief that insurance costs in general would decrease even for those who didn’t go through the exchange. Remember, this is the guy who claims to have had no idea that policies would be cancelled due to Obamacare.

      • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

Nope, my rates shot up like a homesick angel.

        • Michelle ✓classified

My up vote on your comment is not for your rates being raised, it’s for yet one more confirmation that this clusterf*uck increased costs and did not decrease them…and Barry promised.

Folks stay focused on his promise liking your plan, keeping your plan and same with your doctor, but he made another promise that is remaining under the radar as also being a total lie – he said families would save $2,300/year on insurance. Where are these families?

          • Jay Stevens

There is undoubtedly some family somewhere with “appropriate” health problems and a suitably low income that will save money.

So the simple – and workable – solution is to subsidize their insurance needs and leave the rest of us alone.

          • Chrissy the Hyphenated

You said “simple and workable” … two things Democrats can’t stand.

          • Ryan Schneider.

Charlie has danced this Foxtrot so hard he has worn clear through the soles of his steel tap shoes!

        • Chrissy the Hyphenated

We were among those who were supposedly going to finally be able to afford health insurance. Except now, we still can’t afford health insurance AND the government is going to fine us for not getting it, thus reducing our ability to pay for medical care out of pocket. Thanks for NOTHING, DemØcrats!

          • Ryan Schneider.

Low middle class will especially suffer, but they make up a good portion of the suburbs, which he is intent on killing, driving all to big cities or remote country, so his plan is working. If he succeeds, the electoral college will have been so far twisted away from what the true majorities want in many states, as to be rendered completely useless to conservatives and independents

          • WWMD

So you have no insurance?does your state have exchange? What was it going to cost you?

    • Axelgreaser

Terrific summarization of this travesty which has cost the taxpayer $634 million, that we know of (before the ‘fixes), is mired in cronyism and in fact this is money that is mainly leaving the United States! This White House should be fired on the spot for criminal malfeasance which in the future, if this lead balloon ever is tolerated by an increasingly furious citizenry, will cause many, many deaths. And it will be considered in a very indifferent manner: “People die.”–Kathleen Sebelius

    • Jazzee

Obamacare is a heinous mess but finest on the planet? Let’s not get silly.

  • AmericanMom

It appears Obamacare is designed to “help” about 5% of the population and “tax” the other 95% into bankruptcy to support the 5%. It’s the ultimate redistribution of wealth on the planet. Where are the reports (with actual names) of middle class people whose health insurance premiums have decreased dramatically?

    • Michelle ✓classified

I’ve been curious about those people too. Where are they?

      • HanaFiveO

They’ve gone back to living under their bridges.

      • nc ✓s & balances

They had to “invest” 1.1 million dollars to “find” their stories.

When we start hearing about them, and we will, note that while these people will gush about their “affordable” premiums, thanks to taxpayer subsidies, no mention will be made of the sky-high deductibles.

      • AmericanMom

Most of the ones who’ve come out ahead on this are on Medicaid. The rest are likely actors (like he’s done in the past) saying whatever script verbiage they’re told to say.

        • MurphTacular

          Wow. Actors? Cynical much?

          • AmericanMom

Not cynical Murph. One of Obama’s speeches about Obamacare featured people dressed up like doctors. You can find info about it on the internet.

        • WWMD

Does your state have it’s own exchange? Do you currently have insurance and totally familiar with its contents?

      • MurphTacular

If you get news from somewhere besides AmericanThinker, there are lots of relatively positive examples – of course, some negative outcomes as well for ACA users.

        • Thomas, Snarkmaster General

I do, and I have not heard of that many successes.

So, what else do you have?

    • ObamaFail

Yeah, we’ve heard libs spouting about how many people have seen their premiums decrease, but they’ve yet to actually give any proof. Meanwhile, while they are making stuff up, we’ve got plenty of proof that people are being screwed by Obamacare.

      • AmericanMom

The number of people who will no longer have health insurance is going to be phenomenal compared to what it used to be. What Obama and the democrats have done is nothing short of severely damaging to the American people.

        • MurphTacular

Wow. No one is forecasting there will be fewer people w/ insurance. That’s a far-fetched prediction, even for twitchy-ville.

          • DwellsInFire

Yep, there’s a lot of exaggeration in twitchy comments unfortunately, and there doesn’t need to be since Obamacare is quite horrible without needing to resort to that… However I hear that the Dems want to have 7 million signed up for it to meet their goal. Since about 5.5 million have lost their current plans, most of that 7 million will just be people transferring over. That’s not going to make much of a dent in the 30 to 47 million uninsured that Obamacare was supposed to include. And with the higher policy prices, they’re going to lose some of the 5.5 million who can’t afford Obamacare now. This is no way to get everybody covered.

          • WWMD

I love how these people here just throw up these outlandish statements with no basis in facts. “I heard that….” Yeah like the “guests” hannity had on. First couple: our business is going to have to lay off people because of obamacare …hmm considering these people only had 4 employees I wonder how that can be since it’s only companies with 50 employees.
Couple 2: elderly “our insurance is going to go up 75%” fact: their insurance would actually go down 63% but! they did not know this due to their refusal to go on the websites to even look due to their “moral objections” to obamacare. Beyond hilarious if it wasn’t affecting the thoughts of so many people. I had someone here tell me he went on the exchange and his insurance would be 850 a month with 9000 deductible so he’s gotta pay 18000 before he even gets any coverage . He said ” with his pre existing condition”. I then called him a flat out liar as not once do they inquire about pre exist. He then says. No way can they offer ins without a medical history. So which is it? You got your quote after being grilled about….do you smoke? Are you pregnant?. Wow such invasive personal info. Hippa violation! Ridiculous.

      • MurphTacular

I guess that’s the advantage of only reading Daily Caller and twitchy.com, you never hear one shred of actual positive news about ACA.

        • Ryan Schneider.

I offer this challenge: find me just TEN low middle class families ($37,000-$39,000) that have incontrovertibley benefited from ACA, and I will turn tail for at least one month, and defend liberal causes on Twitchy at least three or for times throughout December. If I fail to make adequate defenses, or fail to make the weekly quota, you may link back to this statement, declaring me a liar who has no honor, whenever I attempt to post anything via discus, harass me as long as you want, as hard as you want, I won’t complain. Monitor my progress via my discus account to make sure I am commenting in ways that please you throughout the month. You have from 7:AM to 7:PM today to meet the challenge, if you choose to accept it. I don’t just want names arbitrarily stated as examples, I want personal accounts of people WITHIN this pay grade who can state everything that has gone right for them regarding Ocare. Let’s see some substance to these liberal arguments! If you succeed, I will will be your troll slave for one month. I will review your evidence after 7 tonight, you will have my answer by midnight. I PRAY our standards for acceptable evidence are not as different as stones and steel.

        • Ryan Schneider.

Clarification: 7:PM mountain time, three or four times a week.

        • Ryan Schneider.

So, you ignore me. I want you to know that I say what I mean, and mean what I say. I was not mocking you as the others were, my challenge has been a sincere one. If you felt you were unable to meet the challenge for reasons other then lack of evidence, such as being too busy, it would have been courteous to say so. If you just do not care, then your original complaint about positve news was meaningless, and you are just a troll howling at the wind to hear himself.

      • WWMD

I’ll send you copy of my new bill that went from 1000 to 450 for much better ins and won’t bankrupt me if I get sick. No we don’t have plenty of proof of people getting screwed. I mean you could listen to people like hannity had on, who were all proven to be lying, more people had insurance cancelled for getting sick than were cancelled for not meeting AHA standards. Policies that were such crap and so cheap that if they did get sick they couldn’t afford the co pay and then we have to pay for it just as we pay 12% now for uninsured people going to emergency rooms

    • WWMD

I’m middle class single payer I had blue cross PPO at 1000 a month 1000 deductible and 80/20 split I had to pay 20% of everything . I just switched to a plan on our states exchange. Now, 0 deductible , 20 co pay for doctor, 150 emergency room 150 per hospital stay and max out of pocket in a year 4500. Which is most important as if I got seriously ill requiring hospitalization ending up with 500,000 bill, before I would have paid 100,000 now max 4500. My new monthly bill? $450. Big difference from 1000

MERP, capitation and medicaid. Wait till folk find out how those three work together.
    Your state’s mileage may vary:

The personal representative of an estate (executor or administrator) is required by law to give the State of Texas notice of Medicaid recipient’s death thereby allowing the state to file a claim. Such a claim by the State of Texas is a Class 7 claim which is paid after funeral bills, administration expenses, secured claims, child support, taxes, and it is paid before all other creditors and before the beneficiaries are compensated.

The Department of Aging and Disability Services administers the MERP and they provide a wonderful guide for those with additional questions.

    A WONDERFUL guide indeed.

    Folks, don’t lose…
sight of the fact that the web site is just the tip of the problem we are
facing. With ACA, we’re seeing the unraveling of a whole industry before our
eyes. The heathcare industry, like all others, was built on the intrinsic
foundation of trust between the patient and the caregiver.
Slowly, but surely,we’ve had government creeping into this private relationship ‘for the good of
the people’ to where we are now.
With ACA, the government has decided that it has the right, yes, the RIGHT to intrude into EVERY
    aspect of our lives.
…Think about the answers to questions like these when you didn’t realize your guard was down…
    Where do we live?
Do we own or do we rent?
    Who are we living with?
    Who are we married to?
How many children do we have?
How many children do not have? And why?
How come you don’t have children? What occurred?
    Where are the children?
Why this school versus public school? No religious schools allowed!
    Which doctor(s) are we seeing?
    How often?
    For what reason?
    For how long?
    Where do you work?
Which party do you vote for mostly because you didn’t register at ACA site?
    Is your environment Safe environment?
    How much do you earn?
How long have you been there?
    Do you drink?
    What do you drink?
    Why do you drink?
What church do you go to?
    For how long?
Why that church and not some other?
When was the last time you had sex?
Who was it with? How often?
    What position?
When did you go to the store,(they have access to the receipts CFPB)?
    What did you buy?
How long have you been buying items a-z and why?
    How old are your parents?
    What did they die from?
    Do you have siblings?
    Are your siblings sick?

This is all to be recorded into the database tied to the infamous website.

    Folks, this is real!

    Folks, this is wrong!
    Folks, this is evil!
Think how its seemingly so very casual, and the setting your in,
to fill out a form at a dentist office, the eye doctor, at the doctors
office…Everything is track able, traceable and input into Database after
Database after Database now ran and owned by THE GOVERNMENT…Your Social
Security Number is “proliferated” right along with ‘all the answers’ you’ve given
    for the NEW government agents.

can be hacked at any given point, time of day, 365/24/7.

    Our individual…
relationships are private. It’s none of governments’ business. It’s up to each
of us to fight this every inch of the way in every way that we can. We cannot
sit quietly and wait while ‘our side’ gathers up its strength and develops a
plan. Each and every one of us must cry out, speak out to those we know and
those we don’t know about how wrong this is. Talk to your friends, your

As someone who lives in the UK and travels worldwide for extended periods of time and has been watching this from afar, I have been looking into how much this new insurance scheme costs compared to other countries and other schemes across the world.

In the UK, you can elect to pay for Private Healthcare, at a cost of approximately between £35 ($50) and £459 ($860) per month per person. I personally have company health insurance which is close to the top of that scale, and covers me across the world for almost everything that happens to me.

In mainland Europe (France, Germany, Spain, etc…) you can expect to pay between £45 ($65) and £295 ($525) for your health care.

In Hong Kong, you can expect to pay between $100 and $2,600 per month for your healthcare, with the topmost packages typically being the reserve of those in the mega-rich category, or those with company provided policies.

These are all massively cheaper (with the exception of the top packages within Hong Kong), than those being offered by the new healthcare system in the USA. It is a terrible state of affairs when those who design and develop some of the most innovative technologies in the medical working worlds and still cannot find a way to do anything other than continue to make healthcare considerably more expensive than any of the other countries which offer private and paid-for healthcare systems.

On a side-note, you should not really be paying more than $8,500 a year per individual as this is approximately the amount that is spent on any one individual within the USA healthcare system, even with the topmost insurance packages available.

I’m not sure, but maybe someone in the USA Senate needs to look at why so much profiteering is going on, and needs to step in and clamp down on this clearly outrageous behaviour.

That being said, I would give my left arm to move to America. I run a business in the UK, and I am doubtful I will ever earn enough to quality under the entrepreneurs side of the entrance criteria.
