As Twitchy reported, MSNBC host Martin Bashir on Friday suggested that someone should defecate in Sarah Palin’s mouth so that she would understand the true brutality of slavery and not try to compare it to crippling national debt.

The Examiner, though, has turned up video (via Newsbusters) of Bashir himself using slavery in an analogy. In June 2011, introducing a story on Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum signing “a pledge on upholding traditional marriage,” Bashir teased, “Did two Republican hopefuls really sign a pledge suggesting a return to the days of slavery?”

Time perhaps for Bashir to worry less about Sarah Palin’s mouth and more about what comes out of his own.

To leftists, anyone not “like” them is less than human, & therefore less deserving–of rights, of respect, of dignity. That’s why they always go to insults first in any argument–you’re just not worthy of a reasoned response (if they could even make one) because you’re obviously too stupid to understand if you don’t already accept their point of view.

They dehumanize we who disagree (& those waiting to be born, too), & never called out for their blatant hypocrisy, they’re free to treat others as beneath them.

Hmm, sounds like they share a lot of characteristics with slave owners….

Let’s face it, only progressives are tolerant enough to use slurs, death threats and comparisons to slavery, the Nazis, socialism (Rep. McDermott) or any other evil perpetrated throughout the history of mankind. All of us unwashed hoi polloi need to just shut our traps unless we are thanking them for showing us how horrible, uncouth and uneducated we really are.

  • Maxx

More liberal hypocrisy in a nutshell. “I’m angry you made a comparison to slavery because owning a human being is appalling.”

Yet killing them before they’re born? Apparently not so much.

If we want any more crap from Martin Bashir, we’ll squeeze his ears.

Didn’t Bashir screw over Michael Jackson in his book about Jackson? Don’t think Bashir is a credible anything.

    • Michelle ✓classified

He seriously screwed MJ over in a taped interview and painted a horrible picture of Jackson. He was called on the carpet for his creative editing, Jackson’s own people also taped the interview and released the unedited version. Bashir later apologized for the image of MJ he created and admitted MJ was a good father and that he never saw any indication MJ was attracted to children. Bashir is a solid piece of sh*t and a tabloid shock jockey.

“Returning to the days of slavery.” Give me a break. Bashir is an idiot. And he’s full of what he wants smeared on Palin because he hates her being a female Republican.

  • Lady_Penguin

Bashir is obviously not well-educated because the definition of slavery encompasses several aspects, the entire concept of “enslavement” which tyrannical, fascist, communist political systems inflect on their people. Using the word “slavery” is certainly appropriate in analogies.

Strange how Bashir thinks only blacks were enslaved…and of course, he ignores the fact that blacks enslaved other blacks. But slavery goes back to ancient times, since the dawn of man – conquerors enslaved the conquered.

  • dwsmokin

There is something about a British/Pakistani man lecturing Americans about slavery that I find both amusing and insulting. Amusing that this man who has no discernible connection to the slave trade, or any other connection with this other than what he learned in school in Britain, has the audacity to insult a public figure who said nothing inflammatory. Insulting that-the same inflated ego-seems to think his English upbringing gives him the right to preach to us about our history? If either Pakistan or England had spotless pasts, he may have some wiggle room. Methinks he doth protest too much.

“Martin Bashir says Sarah Palin should eat sh*t for the same comparison he made in 2011 ”

I’d suggest Bashir have to eat sh*t now, but what difference would it make? He spews it every time he opens his mouth.

  • Renny

He’s a complete idiot and a woman hater. Go away, Martin, and take your filth with you.

  • Auntie Warhol

So, twitchy staff doesn’t understand what a comparison is? Bashir didn’t compare anything to slavery, he rightly pointed out that “traditional marriage” included things like a slaveowner being able to force a slave to marry him.

    • Guest

The word “slavery” is used many times in connection with the debt by reporters and writers without objection by network hosts. But if Sarah Palin is using that word the media create controversy in order to vilify Sarah Palin.

The term “slavery” as Sarah Palin already mentioned has differing meanings and contexts. According to Merriam-Webster, the second entry for “slavery” is described as follows:

      “Submission to a dominating influence.”

The “dominating influence” that future generations will be beholden to are those they will owe the unsustainable debt of near 17T racked up by D.C. politicians on both sides of the aisle.

      • Auntie Warhol

Which has what to do with what I said? I don’t give a rat’s ass what Palin said, I’m just calling bs on false equivalence.

        • $270502

All equivalence is false when you don’t like it.

          • Auntie Warhol

No, equivalence is false when things aren’t equal.

          • $270502

These things are equal. Which is why you don’t like it being pointed out.

          • Auntie Warhol

Then you have a funny definition of “equal”.

I mean, hey, I’m just trying to help you guys not look like idiots. But I’m under no illusion I can break through your cognitive dissonance with facts or logic. So to quote Obama, please proceed governor.

          • $270502

You have a funny definition of “reality.”

    • Treelea

Lets see. It is not a “comparison” to suggest that traditional marriage is LIKE a slaveowner being able to force a slave to marry him (your words). SIMILE much?

      • Auntie Warhol

The mere presence of the word “like” does not make a simile. In this case it is used as a synonym for “such as” or “including”. But thank you for playing.

    • londondave

No you’re the one who fails reading comprehension. Bashit did indeed compare something to “slavery.”

That is: analogizing a pledge to uphold same-sex marriage to a pledge to uphold slavery. Get it?

A rather inane analogy, but analogy nonetheless.

      • Auntie Warhol

He did not make an analogy. Slavery *is* a component “traditional marriage”, so if one supports “traditional” marriage, one must support slavery. That isn’t an analogy, it’s a plain statement that something is what it is.

    • Dencal26

And our debt being forced upon our children and grandchildren.

    • AJ_Olding

And debt slavery is an actual form of slavery so what Sarah said is just as valid.

      • Auntie Warhol

Really? Who’s forcing you to stay here?

        • AJ_Olding

Where would one go to escape debt slavery and theft through taxation? Every nation has it so you don’t get to choose to avoid debt slavery, you just get to choose who you’re a slave to.

          • Auntie Warhol

I hear Somalia has everything you’re looking for.

          • AJ_Olding

            There’s still a government there.

  • Dencal26

Thomas Thistlewood wasn’t even an American. He was an English slave master in Jamaica

  • deke1

    why wasn’t he fired!!

    • AJ_Olding

His comments were on the prompter. That means he or someone else wrote it down ahead of time, the editor and other writers saw it ahead of time, and the censors cleared it. If he had been fired for this, many others would have to be fired as well.
