If you click the link in Washington Healthplanfinder’s tweet, you’ll learn that “some applicants” actually equals 8,000 people. And what was that system error again? According to CBS News, it’s “a serious pricing problem with HealthCare.gov” that “can dramatically underestimate the cost of insurance,” leaving people paying double the price calculated on the website.

The Washington Health Benefit Exchange explains that inconsistent files being shared between Washington’s state exchange and the federal government caused around 8,000 applicants to qualify for higher tax credits than allowed based on income and household size. In other words, thousands are about to learn that insurance through the exchange is going to cost more than they were told.

Forbes’ Scott Gottlieb explains how people are “getting a blatantly false picture of how much the new coverage really costs.”

Figuring out how much premium subsidy an individual or family is entitled to requires that the Healthcare.gov “hub” communicate across servers housed at state Medicaid agencies, the Internal Revenue Service, Health and Human Services, and the Department of Homeland Security (among other federal agencies). That necessary data sharing has proven too much for the site’s architecture to handle.

This is what’s causing so many applications to get kicked out — but what about those applications that make it all the way through? At least half a dozen states have already said publicly that their systems are coming up with the wrong calculations.

It’s a sure bet that some consumers who make it through the web site’s maze, and enroll, will also have their subsidies calculated incorrectly.

Washington Healthplanfinder says those thousands affected eventually will be invited back to complete their “shopping experience” and change their plans. In the meantime, any stories about lower premiums are very likely wrong.

Will this boondoggle just DIE already? I wonder how many legal citizens are going to sign up for this. I think that the IRS fine is cheaper than the monthly premiums. Besides, I don’t want to be bled dry so that ‘undocumented workers’ can get free healthcare, which is what this is really all about anyways.

    • CR

All these liberals who wants to downplay the horror of fining people for not buying a product they don’t want only ever talk about the $95 fine… forgetting to mention that it is the GREATER of $95 or 1 percent of your income (this year) and goes up to 2.5 percent of your income in the next few years. That means anyone w/ a reasonable income is going to pay a whole lot more than $95!!!

      • Spinmamma

Yes, but it is my understanding that there is no provision to enforce the fine unless you get a tax refund. In that case they can keep all or part of the refund, but other than that . . .

      • SonsOfMontesQ

yes, but even 2.5% is a whole lot less than 12 payments of astronomical monthly premiums… and they can’t collect the fine if you don’t get a refund. just make sure you have to pay in for taxes and there’s nothing they can do. for now.

        • CR

We’re both self employed, our combined family income would make our penalties right around $7,500 by the time it gets to 2.5 percent of income.

Insurance for the two of us would be $6,912/yr. ($576/month) this year for useless coverage w/ a family deductible of over $12,000 and the policy would leave us responsible for 40 percent of our costs. I can only imagine that will be significantly higher next year when the death spiral is under way.

We do NOT use the doctor, only alternative medicine and we pay cash. No plans for kids ever, we don’t smoke, we don’t want or believe in mental health counseling. I do not have any interest, zero absolutely no interest in any type of covered “preventative” care or any of his other 10 covered “core” services and absolutely resent this insurance policy that asks us to pay an additional $7,500 or buy hugely costly insurance we DO NOT want.

We’re joining a Christian health sharing ministry so should be exempt, thank god ($95/month for the two of us, $5,000 deductible). There is NO earthly way that I would be paying that penalty or buying that insurance coverage (we HAD a very nice little catastrophic policy w/ a premium of $105/month total w/ a $10,000 deductible that we very much wanted to keep, you can guess how that went).

With being self employed, income fluctuating from year to year, required to pay quarterly estimates & having a rather significant tax bill (over $100K last year), it will be VERY hard for us to avoid overpaying and needing a refund w/o risking a penalty for underpayment.

          This law really, really stinks!!!

    • IMPEACH_BOBO

This RAClST law will first implode & then die under its own weight, people are not going to pay a weekly premium of 100 dollars a week to get an over 5,000 dollar deductable on the cheapest plan on this RAClST BOBOcare, that is just plain INSANE !!! Young people need to understand that a 5,000 dollar deductible means you get to pay the first 5,000 dollars for any emergency before this RAClST DEBACLE of a law kicks in, that should send them running for the hills !!! You all understand why these premiums are thru the roof too, we are paying for the 30 MILLION FREELOADERS who will be coming onto the healthcare rolls & getting it for free on our dime, or our exorbitantly high premiums !! Now it is free to these FREELOADERS, NOT TO YOU, the one paying the healthcare bills for these FREELOADER on this RAClST law !!!!

Now if you figure out who the FREELOADERS are, which is over 90% minorities, you can see why I call this BOBOcare a RAClST law !!!! What BOBO did here is messed up the 85% of people out there paying for their own healthcare ( over 80% white ) to give free healthcare to the 15% ( mostly minorities ), NICE JOB BOBO !!! Not to mention BOBO also pushed thru his RAClST REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH BS that he couldn’t get to pass Congress in 2009 when both houses were run by FLEEBAGGING [email protected] !!!

It is time to show this TYRANT the door, whether thru force or IMPEACHMENT !! Now yes it is true that BOBO will never be IMPEACHED with the Senate in FLEEBAGGER control but if we start proceedings today, by the time Republicans take over the Senate in the 2014 Midterms, BOBO can be IMPEACHED & can then go down in the history books as the first IMPEACHED bIack president, it has a nice ring to it doesn’t it !!!!

  • Matt

I wish they had gotten it figured out before they put it live.

    Government incompetence strikes again.

    • CR

I wish they’d never put it live at all.
I wish we hadn’t passed the bill to see what was in it.
I wish B0 had never been elected.
I wish that Ted Cruz was president.

      Don’t waste your wishes :)

Also, “government” and “incompetence” are synonyms so your sentence is redundant 😉

    • KansasGirl

I don’t want to give up my freedom, federal incompetence or not.
      I hope it (he) fails.

  • trixiewoobeans

A word I don’t want to hear concerning my HEALTHCARE, is “Glitch.”

    • trixiewoobeans

That’s like hearing your doctor say “Oops” during your surgery.

      • MyrmidoNOT

        (…from the anesthesiologist…)

      • Roto ✓Intentionally Left Blank

yea, like “Nurse, what time is it? I lost my…. oops, there it…”

    • Blake Waymire

It’s right up there with “Wow, I didn’t think it could do that.”

  • 3seven77

Wait till the Federal money runs out and the states have to fund this crapalooza themselves. Washington’s Governor Inslee is already hot in the pants for tax hikes. Three years from now businesses will be leaving Washington like they’re leaving California now. Seattle, say Good-bye to Boeing.

    • Jenn Stefani

      I think Boeing left already.

  • MyrmidoNOT

    Hey! We ARE talking about “obamaDON’Tcare” anyhow;
why would anyone expect any less??

After all…”teh oone” has been lowering expectations for years…

    • CR

Even I didn’t think it would be this bad. And I’m about the biggest anti-B0 person around. But I just cannot, truly cannot, understand how it is possible for something to be THIS terrible when it was B0’s signature legislature achievement, his legacy rides on it, he had more than three years to get it right and we spend hundreds-of-millions on it.

      • MyrmidoNOT

“…when it was BO’s signature legislative achievement, …”

        It wasn’t “the oone’s” anything….
just a cobbled-together progressive wet dream from a group who aspires to a utopian concept that “they KNOW better”…
(and that the free-market is bad/evil).

Can man rule himself…or must he be “led”…?

        • CR

Considering it is the ONLY thing he’s done and the thing every single Dem touts as his accomplishment, I stand by the statement that it is his “signature legislative achievement.”

Which just goes to show you how LITTLE he has achieved. His “achievement” was passing a mess of a health care law that made things worse. Some achievement. This is what dems achieve when they get into power and this is what happens when we elect the first affirmative action president

(and NO, for any trolls out there, calling B0 an affirmative action president is not racist.. I challenge anyone to tell me that B0 would have been elected if he was white. Giving extra points for skin color = clear case of affirmative action).

          • MyrmidoNOT

Mostly agree (especially the part of the LITTLE ‘achieved’); but my belief is that “teh oone” is NOT a leader (but a follower).
The groupthink that IS the hallmark of this ‘administration’ is the standard-bearer…as long as it ‘toes the line’ of the ideology.

We “are” being led, but not by “teh oone”…

The “handlers” maybe…and the cadre of czars…
but hey, what do you expect from a likable burned-out doper…
who has pretty much voted ‘present’ his entire life.

But the law doesn’t have much to do
            with either “health” or “care”…

It is Chi-town crony politics, at its best.

We have not yet seen the worst.
            (More, when I have time…)

  • JeffWRidge

Does anyone else get the feeling that the government computer healthcare systems are all actually HAL 9000?

  • stuckinIL4now

This was no glitch, it was by design to suck in all the lowBamabots who’d keep believing it was less expensive no matter what their premium bills say. Oh and would somebody please tell CBS that the entire ObamaScare/RobertsTax is a “serious pricing problem”!

  • Maxx

We need to flush Obamacare down one of those $640 government toilets. It would be a perfect ending to classic Washington incompetence.

    • arttie

Beat it to smithereens with the $400.00 hammer also.

  • Louise Uznanski

Looks like they just lost 8,000 enrollees. The number now must be in the minus category.

  • anjullyn

Please…someone notify Amanda Marcotte to remove her head from O’s buttocks, read this and then use her pointer finger to claim ‘THEY’RE LYING!’ I would like to laugh at her again.

Change your W-2’s so less money is taken out. If you don’t get a refund they can’t fine you when you refuse to sign up. Let’s starve the beast once and for all. We shouldn’t support bad laws. I will not comply.

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

Remember 27 days ago when liberals insisted Obamacare was ready to launch from day one? Good times, good times…

During last week’s hearing, the contractors did not deny that they were told to write the software code so that “everybody from 27 to 49 when they go into the Web site would receive a price based on the 27-year-old’s price” and “the person who is from 50 and up would receive the 50-year-old price” to artificially lower those quotes.
