KTVU is reporting that a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer and three police officers have been injured in two shootouts with a suspect in Roseville, Calif.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old parolee Samuel Duran. He was described as an armed Hispanic man with a shaved head and mustache wearing a dark colored beanie, grey short-sleeved shirt and white pants.

One officer was shot in shoulder, the second was shot in the jaw while the third was hit by bullet shrapnel. Of those officers, one was in serious condition and the other two were stable.

According to CBS Sacramento, Duran has been locked down for several hours in a house at 6th Street and Hampton.

Update:

ICE spokesperson Virginia Kice provided a statement Friday night:

A special agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) was shot Friday afternoon shortly after 3 p.m. while conducting a joint enforcement action with investigators from the police department in Roseville, Calif. The special agent was rushed to a local hospital where he is now reported to be stable and alert.  Additional HSI agents are en route to the incident scene and will be assisting the Roseville Police Department with the ongoing investigation.

Update:

Suspect Sammy Duran reportedly surrendered after a nine-hour standoff and was taken into police custody.

Earlier reports suggested the suspect was 23 years old. He is now thought to be 32.

Twitchy will update this post as details emerge.

Editor’s note: The headline of this post was changed to reflect that a third officer was not shot but reportedly wounded by shrapnel.

Mexico’s finest. I can see gun control in California is alive and well.

    • freeinaz

Funny how there is no mention of the suspects immigration status. Why would ICE be involved unless there is some type of illegal immigration status….

      • rssllue

        Odd that don’t you think?

  • Jeremy

Operation Fast & Furious at work yet again thanks too Obummer & Holder.

  • Squirrel!

Nowhere does anyone disclose the illegal status of this person. No other reason ICE would be there, is there? Oh well. California is a sanctuary now. If you live in CA, anywhere else would be better right about now.

    • Jeremy

Yeah it’s obvious with I.C.E there that this guy is illegal but, like you said that doesn’t matter too Governor Moonbeam.

      • Squirrel!

And would be politically incorrect to point it out too. PC destroys.

These are the guys Luis Guitierrez wants to legalize as dreamers. If your a liberal I dare you to go to Juarez or TJ and walk around looking like a gringo.

    • Michelle ✓classified

You mean, quit and run? Naw, that’s what lead to this problem…those who quit and ran. Invaders won’t make me leave my home and shame on those who ran away.

      • Squirrel!

Well, you got me there, Michelle, but it’s a sanctuary now so it’s likely to get tougher. If ever you think it is time to split, you know many other states will welcome you with open arms. You & I both got a down vote. Someone took criticism of CA personally. Oh well. Keep fighting the good fight.

        • Michelle ✓classified

Thank you Squirrel. It’s a bit of a sanctuary because the Liberal politicians make it one, but the majority of residents are not happy about that – for the most part, most voters in this state are livid about how easy things are for illegals here, unfortunately, not livid enough to toss the officials out of office. Except for Gray Davis. Before he was elected the first time, we had just passed Prop 187 by a large majority. It was a law to ban welfare benefits for illegal aliens. Some Boo Hoo civil rights groups challenged that law, and the 9th circuit court of appeals (notoriously Liberal) issued a restraining order on the law, and Gray Davis did nothing. It was HIS job to appeal the court’s decision and he did nothing. For reasons I don’t understand, he won re-election, but then the voters turned around 10 months after his re-election and recalled him out of office. In part because he’d signed a law granting driver licenses for illegals. The only two places in the whole state that said NO to his recall were the Bay Area (San Fran) and Los Angeles – the entire rest of the state approved of the recall to toss him out on his (_)_), and they did. A Republican was elected to replace Davis (that’s a message right there), and Arnold reversed the law granting illegals driver licenses. Brown replaced Arnold (which shocked me) because unfortunately Arnold didn’t do a good job with the finances around here. But Brown may have just signed his fate – a week or two ago he signed into law granting driver licenses to illegals and by most accounts – Californians are PISSED. Pissed enough to make sure he’s not re-elected? We’ll have to wait and see. On the other hand, it’s mighty, mighty tough to change elections around when there is SO much voter fraud in this state and the millions of illegals here DO vote. I’m quite convinced that if voter ID laws were passed in this state and dead people, dogs and illegals could no longer vote – we’d see a VERY different future for California.

And yeah, I have a bad habit of typing rants without using paragraphs *snort*

          • freeinaz

Keep up the good fight. Brown is an idiot to grant illegals drivers licenses as this is just an easy step for them to become legal in another state which believes having been issued a license means you have presented satisfactory documentation of legal status. Or, there will be someone inside the DMV who is paid off by the cartels to make sure illegals are given a legal resident license when they really should be getting one that clearly states they are not a resident of the U.S.

          • Michelle ✓classified

Apparently the licenses will look different from an actual license in this state, but that’s still not OK. We should NOT be making things easy for them when they’re here illegally! The more we keep rewarding them and giving them what they want, the more they’ll keep coming. WHY don’t politicians understand this? It is against Federal law to give an illegal alien a job because it encourages them to come and stay here (a law that we all know is NOT enforced). Isn’t giving them driver licenses also encouraging them to come and stay here? How do these local laws (in a few states) granting them licenses bypass the Federal law?

And don’t EVEN get me started on how major banks let them open checking accounts, credit cards and mortgages (yes, MORTGAGES!) and also give them FREE MONEY TRANSFERS back to their home country. The insanity of all this is so overwhelming.

Wow! It really sounds like a mess. I’d probably have high blood pressure living there. I knew about the gov passing a law to allow driver’s licenses, but didn’t he call it something else? Seems I remember it not be called a license. As with any progressive b.s., if you name it something else, people will buy it or they think ppl will anyway. No wonder there are counties looking to secede. Good luck out there!

If he is illegal, the liberal press will try to bury this story quick so they don’t disrupt Obama’s Immigration reform. If I were the conservative press I’d be all over this.

      • fcalsnoe

Last weekend where I live…small town.. 2 DUI’s with death as a result and 3 shootings and lot’s of other personal crime. All Hispanic. Amnesty will unleash millions of criminals on your neighborhood just like in all the border towns .

        • Squirrel!

I’m thankful I don’t live in a border state. I have been to Laredo. It feels like another country. I’m from Louisiana, and I actually remember the first Latinos I saw there. Where I live now, the people I see are working people as best I can tell. An entire school bus pickup at my kids’ school is Latino children ( 10 of them); all the same last name. I’m not certain they shouldn’t be here, but draw my conclusions from things I hear from my kids. With that said, they are kids who consistently get honor roll and good behavior awards at school.

    • fcalsnoe

I live there and these kind of guys are running rampant and the crime rate for Hispanics are huge.

    • freeinaz

And to think the government wants to grant amnesty to millions who already have shown a total disregard of our laws…

  • Mark1971

We will probably find out this guy has been arrested before but always released, never deported.

  • Maxx

You must have one beautiful view (or one helluva job) if you’re a conservative, delighted to live in Jerry Brown’s California.

    • Michelle ✓classified

It’s not his state any more than this country is Barack Obama’s United States of America. Are you not delighted to be an American although Obama is President? It’s not different for those who love their states.

      • Maxx

Ineffective, overreaching and under delivering entitlement-laden liberal governance is negatively affecting California in much the same way it affects Michigan. I have plenty of friends who live in California who continue to stay there for one (or both) of the reasons highlighted above.

I believe one person (in this case, a governor) can most certainly change a state’s standard of living because one President certainly has affected, in a negative way, the lives of millions of Americans and yet most of us remain here, which led me to the observation above.

My comment wasn’t a knock on the state, rather a knock on those who are running it. For example, California’s annual economy generates $1.9 trillion, however the state budget hovers around $86 billion.

It simply cannot continue down that path, as I’m sure you’ll agree; which brings me back to my observation. There must be some extraordinary good reasons why people would want to continue to live in a state so profoundly mismanaged.

        • Michelle ✓classified

You called it Jerry Brown’s California, not a “state so profoundly mismanaged” Quite a few mismanaged states in this country – my oh my, where IS a person to go? Maybe it’s mismanaged because people who are not Liberals continue to leave the state, abandon it to those who keep electing those who mismanagement it?

There are absolutely numerous extraordinary reasons why many of us love living here. Just kind of curious, in what city did you live when you lived in CA?

And really…all this venom being spewed about CA in general when the post is about officers being shot? Is CA the only state in the country where Latino men shoot officers?

And by the way, I do have an awesome view with pretty damn good weather year round.

          • Maxx

The reason why “people who are not liberals” continue to leave California is BECAUSE it is so profoundly mismanaged. It didn’t suddenly become that way AFTER conservatives left.

For the love of God Michelle, the average salary of a garbage worker in Oakland is $70,000/year. Add the invariable overtime and within a three-year time frame, a person who collects garbage in that city is going to make a quarter of a million dollars. ONE EMPLOYEE. THREE YEARS.

Extrapolate that over the entire state and the economic picture becomes clear. Here’s another example.

            http://rt.com/usa/california-bankrupt-taxpayers-pensions-874/

It’s ok to love your state…I get that. Hell, despite the high crime in south Florida, I remain here but there’s a reason….

            ….75-degree Decembers.

My initial observation didn’t address the crime, rather it was an off-topic, general observation that we all have our reasons why and where we hang our hats. You’re taking these observations above personally. I say relax. You seem happy to be where you’re at and that’s all that matters but your happiness doesn’t erase the facts.

            http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2013/09/16/undocumented-la-county-parents-projected-to-receive-650m-in-welfare-benefits/

Bad liberal governance is everywhere…no doubt, but there are few states in the country which guarantee it quite as consistently as California.

          • Michelle ✓classified

“The reason why “people who are not liberals” continue to leave California is BECAUSE it is so profoundly mismanaged. It didn’t suddenly become that way AFTER they left.”

So was it profoundly mismanaged when Reagan was Governor? Jerry Brown came after him and that’s when things started to fall apart…and people started to leave. Gave up. Ran away. We managed to elect two more Republican Governors after Brown, but folks were still leaving because nothing was being done about the illegal alien invasion. And then Gray Davis was elected and he did such a horrible job with this state that he was recalled, replaced in the middle of his term with a Republican by the voters, and that was in the recent past. And somehow, for reasons that still baffle me, Brown was re-elected and is current Governor. The fight isn’t over yet, only 43% of this state is Democrat.

Not sure what the salary of a sanitation worker has to do with this convo – that’s a Union issue and a nationwide problem. Did you know subway train janitors in MA make $80K a year for cleaning the trains? It’s disgusting, but Union crap isn’t a problem specific to CA.

I don’t just love my state, my home, I also love it when my fellow Americans don’t give up on my home and bash this whole state in general like the other 57% of us who are NOT Democrat don’t exist here. I’m a citizen of the UNITED States of America.

75 in December is pretty fantastic, isn’t it? And we both probably share a love for palm trees as far as the eye can see, have many of them around my house.

          • fcalsnoe

Michelle I live in Coachella Valley CA. and it’s dangerous considering the Hispanic crime rate and amount of DUI’s. Look into the desert Sun newspaper and see for yourself don’t believe me. Ever been to Mexico like TJ or Juarez. Do you have any idea Mexico is a narco state and one of the most dangerous places on earth. Wake up girl…….The same people are here now and they want to give them citizenship with no background checks. Hope you survive the future.

          • freeinaz

CA has the problems it has is due to the low info voters who want free stuff along with the corruption at the ballot box. As you stated earlier, if CA enacted voter I.D. it would change some things, however, the entitlement mentality and the state will take care of me mentality runs pretty deep, just like it has begun to take over every state.

          • Michelle ✓classified

Because people who are against the entitlement mentality pack it up and leave instead of staying and putting their feet down.

I think people live there because it’s THE most beautiful State in the Union. What other state can boast Alps to desert, Primitive Wildernesses to farmlands, ocean shores from chilly to almost tropical, Redwoods to Joshua Trees, rugged mountains to barrens, skiing to surfing, cowboys to accountants? It’s got it all, which is why it was overrun, and lately mismanaged badly.

          • Maxx

That was my point exactly. Some times, it’s mother nature herself that dictates why we remain where we are. Every time we get a hurricane in south Florida, I contemplate leaving…..and then I’m reminded that I spent 17 years in Maine shoveling snow in early May.

          • Michelle ✓classified

I moved to Boston in 2002 for family reasons, spent 10 yrs there before returning to CA (I was born/raised here). The snow was fun the first few years and I even enjoyed shoveling it (great workout), then grew tired of it, couldn’t stand having to stay in the house most of the Winter because it was just too cold to go anywhere. And the humidity in the summers was disgusting. I returned to CA two years ago and haven’t regretted it once. In fact, I’m much happier here than I ever was in Boston although I miss my family very much.

          • Michelle ✓classified

Excellent comment Trixie and so very true. I have the ocean in one direction, beautiful desert in another and an amazing National Forest bordering the valley I live in and I can get to any of it within an hour. I can go skiing during the day and then enjoy a nice dinner watching the sunset over the ocean that same evening.

I was from No. Calif. Lived on a high-desert cattle ranch surrounded by forests, mountains and true wilderness. My grandparents, who owned and operated the ranch, were quite rancher/cosmopolitan, though, and flew their own plane to Florida, Central and So. Cal., San Francisco, etc., on business or visiting family, and would take one of us along, so we partook of the whole State. I knew it was special, and that I was fortunate to live there, from the time I was little. They can “break” the State, but they can’t destroy the topography.

Progs are like locusts, They sweep into a state, take power, change everything that makes the state great, suck all the life and beauty out of it and leave it a barren ruined wasteland as the move onto the next state.

They are absolutely ruining Hawaii. Its a blue state that has been taken over by progs.

      • Thomas

Hold your ground Michelle. Like Capt. Loyd Williams of the 5th Marine Regiment said, “Retreat, Hell! We just got here.” The left wants everybody to surrender their ground for their way of failing. I say in the words of Commodore John Paul Jones when the British Captain ask him to surrender, “I have not yet begun to fight!”

        • Michelle ✓classified

Thank you Thomas. I get so disappointed when folks write this state off as a Liberal wasteland and either move away or encourage the rest of us to move away – give up and let them have my home, where my roots are and is a place I love? Hell no. The answer to putting the squash on Liberals and Progressives it not to run away and let them have control, the answer is to stand up to them and make them understand they don’t get to continue ruining this state. Aside from the Liberal politics and pathetic number of illegal aliens, this is a beautiful place with good people. When I moved back to CA two years ago, I joked with my friends that I was coming home to straighten this place out…and I was only half kidding.

          • Thomas

You are welcome. As I have previously stated, California has some leftist flakes, but they also have many good strong conservatives with wonderful values. Lived in the Santa Barbara area for ten years and knew plenty of conservatives both along the central coast and also further inland
