The very well educated writers at Salon have already covered actor and rapper Jaden Smith’s “bizarre anti-education tweets,” including this gem about everyone in the whole world dropping out of school. Maybe it’s just because it’s not a school night, but we’re not so prepared to call his tweet “anti-education.” Anti-school, maybe. Anti-Common Core? Hopefully.

Bizarre? What if he’d instead tweeted, “If everybody in the world stopped going to church we would have a much more spiritual society”? That’s Nobel Peace Prize material right there.

What else is on Jaden’s mind?

OK, that last one’s either a take on Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s Theory of Natural Human or just nonsense. Jaden does spend a lot of time in Hollywood, though, so maybe that’s colored his perspective on adult intelligence. Or perhaps…

Probably he is just hanging out with the Kardashians.

    • IMPEACH_BOBO

Maybe Jaden is trying to be the next trayvon martin, he was an uneducated RAClST TOOL too !!! Good job parenting by Will & Jada Smith or could it be they agree with their JUVENILE DELINQUENT like trayvon’s parents did !!!!! Keep flapping your gums Jaden & you will be a wash up has been, OH WAIT you are a washed up has been, I forgot about your bomb of a movie After Earth, is that why your so BITTER trayvon, I mean Jaden !!

This is for ‘Sons Thunder’ below: remember this 15 year old mental midget is going to be an adult someday & on top of it all he is rich but still is mentally deficient, it isn’t looking good for him, I guess Jaden would rather learn Ebonics or something !!!!

      • Jason Call

To which of our great institutions of learning should young Smith and the rest of us offer our reverent praise?
        a) The leftist-run and taxpayer subsidized public schools.
        b) The leftist-run and taxpayer subsidized colleges and universities.
        c) Other.
EDIT: More to the point, what has the young man said here that justifies any of your ad hominem remarks which include the charge that he is racist(or going to become racist?)?
SECOND EDIT: Does some famous connection exist between Trayvon Martin and Jaden Smith? Before this morning, I only knew that Will Smith has a son and they remade The Karate Kid.

        • David Johnson

That kid never saw the inside of a public school unless he was on a tour!

      • BEA67

“… remember this 15 year old mental midget ….”

That’s just it….he’s 15. He is like many other rebellious 15 year olds that have yet to grow into adulthood. Ever raise a mouthy teenager? I raised 4 of them and they all turned out fine.

  • peteee363

sad to say, but he may be on to something, since kids aren’t learning at most public schools now.

    • Tugger – not banned yet

did you mean to say “he may be on something”? :-)

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

        either way works

    • Cyborg3K

The kid is right. Get out of public indoctrination and start home schooling.

      • conservativemomma

I agree. People may be making fun of the kid but his family have become rich through hard work. He is getting a real life education and they seem like a decent family who love each other.

      • Jason Call

This young man is making sense. I have explained elsewhere in this thread why I agree with him.

Many here are clowning the guy for how he dresses and critiquing his acting. I was not aware previously that junior-high-school students enjoyed such a plurality here.
Jaden Smith, you are indeed on to something.

  • Jack Williams

    3 x 4 = 11

  • Clayton Grant

Money can buy you an education, but it cannot buy intelligence. Fifteen yr old Jaden can’t afford to miss a single class.

    Is this Will Smith’s kid?

    • syvyn11

Yes, and his acting and rapping career provided for by his daddy, Will.

            :)

        • LinTaylor

On top of that, his minidress almost looks like leather. Methinks the younger Smith has played a little too much Skyrim lately.

          • MarcusFenix

…this is what happens when a person doesn’t have to work for a living. If they stop working today, we would entertain ourselves and they would only be mentioned in our recolections, like …. dignity, faith, patriotism, American values.

  • gman213

Really? Have you ever encountered an inner city kid who dropped out? If not you wont have to look far…LMAO

Sorry. The damage has already been done.

    Probably talking about lefty schools

    • Ntr

The unfortunate thing is that most of this nation’s schools are lefty these days.

  • John Alvarado

If you have seen After Earth, you will want to stay in school or college as long as you can. I would rather have a Doctorate in Psychology than be in that awful movie.

    • Stephen L. Hall

      I don’t know . . . those are two too horrible alternatives.

      • John Alvarado

Ok, than I rather become a Medical Doctor than Jaden Smith in After Earth.

  • syvyn11

It was better when the message was “We don’t need no education. We don’t need no thought control”.

    Pink Floyd still rocks.

    • Deborah Hallsted

“Hey, Ayatollah leave those kids alone” is also good.

  • Ntr

He’s kind of right even though dropping out isn’t the answer. The vast majority of U.S. public schools have had curriculum, teaching guidelines and even lunch menus taken over by left-leaning “ideals”. Public schools have been more about teaching young people what to think instead of how to think.

It’s been a decades-long developing problem, the mis-education that (racist) white liberals purposefully started in inner cities, that has almost been solidified across the whole of this nation’s schools. Lefties, modern liberals and the DemoKKKratic party only want to create a future of bobbleheads. They want the ultimate control over minds and dwindling freedom of thought. It’s the leftist way.

  • Richard Jefferies

“If Newborn Babies Could Speak They Would Be The Most Intelligent Beings On Planet Earth.” Said no parent ever.

    • trixiewoobeans

LOL!! But seriously, with the millions of American abortions, how many future Einsteins’, Curies’, Pasteurs’, Churchills’, etc., been killed?

    • lee martell

That sounds completely YOKO ONO if you ask me. Yes, I’m using her name as an adjective. It works with people ‘of a certain age’.

    • Jason Call

Full disclosure: I’m not a parent.
Young Master Jaden may suppose, as I do, that newborns are spiritually most proximate to the One Creator who is the very Source of all intelligence. Indeed I realize, however, that deep metaphysics don’t fit all that well with his other remarks, and I can’t be sure how he meant it.
“Education is Rebellion” may be an ironic swipe at institutionalized doublespeak, or else an attempt at restating,”Experience isn’t the best teacher; it’s the only teacher.” Pretty wise for a 15-year-old.
To “School Is The Tool To Brainwash The Youth”(absolutely true), I replied to him on Twitter,”Outstanding, young man.”
In short: after some parsing, I agree with everything he said.

  • praymorenow1

If everyone dropped out of Common Core, that would be a good thing….
Yes, the union aligned school system does brainwash the youth……

However, the intellectual insight of the son of a multi-millionaire mother and father,
and thereby, multi-millionaire private corporations and tax shelters of said mom and pop………is not exactly something I seek, nor follow…..
Oh, to be the offspring of the hyper 1/2 of 1/2 of 1/1000th of 1%!
I await the day he joins Occupy this or that….
Oh by the way, your last movie, really, really, really stunk up the joint………
One hint: Scientology themed movies and space themes of the late L. Ron Hubbard odd mindset……….don’t normally make real movie money.

  • Steve_J

Drop out, don’t get an education and you’ll get paid what you’re worth.

  • lisanemo

He is being “profound” as most teens are. I think back to that time in my life and laugh now at the silly things I had thought so ground breaking. I swear my parents yawned at times.
He does have a point about the current educational system being a tool to brainwash the youth.
I hope some day he will look back and laugh at himself as I have laughed at my younger “oh, so profound” self and I also hope he learns how to make a different face other constipated.

    • trixiewoobeans

He does have a rather “Trump-like” visage.

    • Mead

Thank gawd we didn’t have the internet back then, all the stupid shit we said isn’t saved for the world to gawk at. And the only people who were around to hear it were saying their own stupid shit.

I’ve been more entertained by the reactions. Oh noes, a teen said something dumb, how outrageous and unheard-of! Well, duh. That’s what they do.

  • Zach Peterson

I’m going to have to side with the kid on this one. Today’s schools are useless past the 8th grade. I dropped out of the 9th grade…now have a BsCs, MsMs and Doctorates in Computer Science (DC.S)… Would have never gone that far if I had stayed in public school which bores you, brain washes you, and burns you out from wanting to continue an education. Pedagogist suck, andragogist rock.

  • Axelgreaser

WELL, IF HE MEANS HOME SCHOOLING AS AN ALTERNTIVE, I almost agree with him. The Democrats (Liberal Progressives) have poisoned the education system to the point that America continues to rank below many other nations that it should not. I mean when Oprah* replaces Washington in the history books, something is wrong!

*For those unaware or just landed from the planet ‘Obamatron’, ‘Oprah’ refers to American ingrate billionaire Oprah Winfrey, who of late has been tossing around the race card immodestly. She is a network CEO, film producer, actress, Obama rump ki$$er (endorsed him in 2009, and therefore apparently endorses ‘Socialism & Marxism) and TV personality who recently was the victim of a variation on a ‘purse snatching’ in which she alleged a clerk in Switzerland was errant in her sales duties and suggested an $18,000 handbag was ‘too expensive for her.’ She took this as a ‘racist’ thing, don’t’cha know, and bored the entire planet with the incident. She later backed off on the accusation after the public not only groaned in unison (both blacks and whites) and ‘rolled their eyes’ at yet another unsubstantiated, unproven ‘race’ hoax-whine. Especially since the owner of the Boutique kind od said: ‘Bullshit Miss Oprah! Prove it!” But all is good now. The clerk didn’t lose her job due to the preposterous accusation and Oprah got plenty of publicity for her film project THE BUTLER, in which she cast Jane Fonda as (hold your laughter), Nancy Reagan. If Jaden Smith stays in the public school system (is he even in it?) once his history textbook is updated, the information regarding Oprah may be revised to document Oprah’s purse indignity.

  • Magnifico

He’s learned that you don’t need a brain to make it in Hollywood…..smart kid.

  • radicallyalyssa

He has a point. The education system is a system of indoctrination. However it’s up to the parents to tell their kids to develop their own morals and ideals.

    • Paul C.

You took the words right out of my mouth, the school system including college is just a liberal agenda.

      • radicallyalyssa

It’s very disturbing…when I was younger I was conditioned to believe Democrats were good and Republicans were bad. I never thought about it until very recently! Now all my teachers are liberals, and it’s very upsetting going to class to LEARN and instead hearing some stupid lib agenda. It’s like, we’re not paying you to fill my head with your garbage ideals. Teach me history.

  • Rella

I haven’t read all the comments so forgive me if this has been pointed out. His family is into Scientology so he is being indoctrinated and he just doesn’t know it. The Smiths supported a School based on Scientology “curriculum” until it recently folded.

    • Jason Call

As long as I didn’t have to “pay” for the “implementation” of the “curriculum”, I’m fine with it. Besides, while I don’t pretend to know a whole bunch about Scientology, I can guarantee that it’s not more weird or destructive to the culture than the indoctrination program in our public schools.

Wow! Rich kid that gets home schooled needs to get out of the wing of the mansion he now lives in! The lack of education can be seen in our communities and the destruction that comes from not being able to articulate a thought or have any marketable skills in the workplace is destroying our country. Our youth are ignorant enough of the basics, we certainly don’t need a celeb who has a cushy bank account putting down the need for an education. A good education is the best equalizer we have in this country. Moron!

I think kids who don’t want to be there should drop out or be put into accelerated GED classes. We don’t need to be allocating resources to an expensive babysitting service that distracts resources from those that want to make use of the opportunity. The no child left behind and 100% graduation rates just produce mediocrity.

He may have a point, but he also has Will Smith for a father. Jaden was financially secure the moment he was conceived, so it’s not like he’d have to worry about “dropping out of school” or such.

Given that so many kids coming out of the public school system for the last 20 years are barely literate and lack knowledge of most core subjects, maybe the kid is right. Look at the ignorant and idiotic tweet replies he got; products of the public education system! At least half of the comments on this page show virtually no intelligence at all.

Oh, and the sarcastic phrase used by the writer of the article; ““If everybody in the world stopped going to church we would have a much
more spiritual society”……take away the sarcasm and that would be another true statement. Churches are more interested in right wing politics then spiritual beliefs.

“School Is The Tool To Brainwash The Youth.”

As a labeled, “hard-core, far right-wing, nutjob”… I find this comment hilarious, others are up in arms over.

We say the same damn thing.

Ever since our educational system was taken over by the Federal government and controlled by mostly the biased Liberal mind, he has a great, and accurate, point. Propaganda and ‘brainwashing’ does go on in the gov. public school — he’s smarter than many, much older than he.
