As Twitchy reported, 12 Senators have signed a letter pledging to defund Obamacare, although five names that were expected to be on that letter didn’t materialize. One of those was Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who offered something of an explanation in reply to this tweet:

Cornyn, it seems, has decided to wait for another train. What route he intends to take is unclear, but Ted Cruz, the “very junior” Senator from Texas, is on board with the effort to defund and going full throttle.

Cruz has been making the rounds of conservative talk radio to plead his case, but supporters are pleading for more.

The answer is simple: If Cornyn doesn’t get on board, Texas Conservatives should primary him and then dump his RINO ass in favor of a real Conservative.

Same for McCain, Boehner, Rubio, et al.

What other possible ‘train’ could Cornyn be on? You are either for or against defunding Obamacare, that is the bottom line. I’m so tired of these damn politicians and their vague ass double-speak. Term limits can’t come soon enough.

On a happier note, Ted Cruz followed me on Twitter :)

    • Clete Torres

      Congrats, Ben. That’s quite cool.
I’m nowhere near interesting enough, nor do I tweet with anything resembling regularity.
@ my handle if anyone is remotely interested.

Heh, looks like noted internet nitwit Aaron Fleszar followed you too. THREE times, under different aliases.

        I’m sure that’s not true. I’ll follow you :)

“Seems to me there’s appropriate ways to deal with the law, but shutting down the government to get your way over an unrelated piece of legislation is the political equivalent of throwing a temper tantrum,” Tom Cole (R, Oklahoma) told Fox News Wednesday.

Instead, for Cole, it’s about the Republicans’ chances in the 2014 and 2016 elections.

I don’t think most of them really care about defunding Obamacare. They just want to keep their seats in 2014 and 2016. I’m SO F’ING SICK of politicians, I say we primary ALL the RINO bastards and put some real Conservative blood in there. It just makes me so angry. I’m so tired of getting the shaft from these people who are supposed to be our representatives. And they don’t care. They think they have carte blanche to do whatever they want to do. Doesn’t matter what’s right for the country. Doesn’t matter what the Constitution says. It only matters how it will effect the politicians seat in the upcoming election.

I’m done with my rant. I pulled that quote from this article http://ow.ly/nkT8q

My thoughts exactly, I’m tired of them putting politics before the people. And let the government shut down, they shut down everything except essential services which is the way it should be anyway.

Texans, this guy —> @DBrandewie, claims to be John Cornyn’s Press Secretary on Twitter. I tweeted that Cornyn should show some backbone, for once, take a stand and re-sign Senator Lee’s letter.

His immediate, unsolicited response was: “@JohnCornyn repeatedly voted to defund, repeal, block, and bar implementation of Ocare. Signed lots of letters too.”

I noticed almost the exact same response to many other tweets. Dismissive much?

Anyway, I responded: “@DBrandewie This plan has legs, unlike the symbolic vote crap. Does @JohnCornyn work for Mitch McConnell or Texas?”

He hasn’t answered me. Please, someone jump into the primary!

  • BAW

I don’t have faith in Cornyn’s conservative principles but I thought he was a smarter politician than this. He’s been fairly consistently following Cruz’s lead, now would not be a good time to try to pretend he’s a leader.

I’m not supportive of Perry for President but if he really wants to go to DC, having an Aggie in the Senate would be great.

Side note: Does anyone else notice that the Cruz image is using the wrong staff? Medical staffs (rod of asclepius) only have one snake.

Granted, the winged staff in the image is Mercury’s staff- “the messenger of the gods, guide of the dead and protector of merchants, shepherds, gamblers, liars, and thieves.” So I guess it works with Obamacare.

    • Everett

It is relatively common, especially in the United States, to find the
caduceus, with its two snakes and wings, used as a symbol of medicine
instead of the correct Rod of Asclepius,
with only a single snake. This usage is erroneous, popularised largely
as a result of the adoption of the caduceus as its insignia by the U.S. Army Medical Corps
in 1902 at the insistence of a single officer (though there are
conflicting claims as to whether this was Capt. Frederick P. Reynolds or
      Col. John R. van Hoff).

And on which networks are you going to go?

    add @jeffflake to this list.

  • 912er

There is going to be a train wreck one way or the other….If the republicans let Obamacare play out there will be a train wreck and if they defund it there will be a train wreck…..Why do they always choose the option that makes their own party look to be the reason for failure?I’m starting to think it may be on purpose.

  • bill_a_bob

The problem John is you and the other RINO no shows are on that train in Spain
