Hours after protesters blocked traffic on I-880 in Oakland, Calif., the Los Angeles Police Department declared a citywide tactical alert as protests over the George Zimmerman verdict spread. WNBC reported that a Walmart store was closed after a “mostly peaceful” mob stormed the retailer.

Um, OK.

The mayor’s office called for peace in the area.

Nearby, another American flag went up in flames as violence spread through the area.

  • Raye09

So these nitwits are protesting racism, percieved lack of justice and stereotyping by robbing wal-mart? I will never understand some people….

    • tjp77

Yep this is definitely going to put an end to those stereotypes.

All they need to do now is storm a Foot Locker and maybe a KFC.

      • Carl Poole III
      • Worship Dancer

        not kfc popeyes

        • Anthony_1

think they would mind picking something up for me? Getting hungry here in NYC

      • Damien Johnson

I hate to say it but damn, when you’re right you’re right. I’ll be ashamed to be black when there’s a cold day in hell, but these people are very shameful.

        • Marvintyson

You are NOT RESPONSIBLE for what someone else does! No matter what color your skin is. You are ONLY responsible for your own actions, just as these idiots are responsible for theirs. They probably know little about the case itself, but are using this tragedy as an excuse for mayhem. And I don’t mean the peaceful protesters who are well within their rights.

        • robcrawford2

You’re responsible for your own behavior, not that of others. Only our own acts can bring us shame.

        • Slugglife

sorry damien but you dont get to feel all the shame by yourself. alot of those @holes are white(hispanics). I’ll shoulder the shame with you.

    • http://whatandever.blogspot.com/ Osumashi Kinyobe

A similar thing happened during the LA riots (apres Rodney King). What the mobs didn’t count on was the Koreans (God love their store-protecting hearts).

      • Jeremy

good for them. They were not putting up with anything.

        • http://whatandever.blogspot.com/ Osumashi Kinyobe

They worked hard; they defended… hard.

Okay, they protected their lives and their property is my point.

          • tjp77

Yup. They came here, built something to provide for themselves and their families, served the community, and defended what they had built accordingly.

Pretty much the definition of America… at least, what it used to be.

          • http://whatandever.blogspot.com/ Osumashi Kinyobe

People have lost pride in themselves and communities. If the mob ever had to re-build without someone’s cash, then they might care about destroying or damaging it.

    • Ken Alan Draper

no, it’s just an excuse to steal.

    • Elaine

This verdict was just an excuse to act like the terrorists they are. You think it’s just a coincidence they picked WalMart? Nope. It’s no coincidence, either, that Holder & Co. are laser focused on the new ‘drop a dime’ campaign on George Zimmerman. They will dig deep until they find one little thing to charge himwith. Holder should spend this much effort on actual CRIMES by this Obama administration! The only ‘Justice’ at his DOJ is “social or environmental” justice. It’s all about revenge and reparations. Middle finger for you, whitey! I have had to ignore most of the news lately, it’s just too insane.

    • robcrawford2

“So these nitwits are protesting racism, percieved lack of justice and stereotyping by robbing wal-mart?”

It’s the same as “behead those who say Islam is violent”.

Stupid people. They hate themselves and have no respect for businesses either.

These businesses should close and never do business there again. Leaving these folks with nowhere to shop or have a job. They do not deserve it! Burn the flag of the country that gives you checks, food, OPhones and soon healthcare. Never let a crises go to waste!

Screw that, I don’t want them moving into my neighborhood

    • b_truit

They will scatter like roaches and find a way over to our nice well kept stores that we do not rob, destroy or trash.

  • Smokey Behr

I thought that they were going to invade the suburbs and protest there, instead of tearing up their own neighborhood. I guess they’re too lazy to go to the SFV.

Are you from near Shadow Hills? My brother and wife live there and you’re right..nothing remotely close to the above would be attempted there..:)

        • Michelle

Shadow Hills? Nooooo, I would never live east of the 405 in SFV, I was raised and lived my first 35 yrs in the West Valley. And you are correct, other than the pockets of ghetto and gangs in the Northeast part of the Valley, this rioting crap would never be tolerated in The Valley.

      • Cliff Daugherty

        I am with you kid…100%

        • Michelle

Ha – I’m 46 yrs old, haven’t been called “kid” in a long time, feels good, thank you for that!

          • Cliff Daugherty

            Well, when I’m coming uo 63 years old soon…you are a kid…even at 46!

  • Ntr

Yeah, that’s intelligent…extending your riot warmups into a Walmart. Now their photos and facial data have been cataloged in a DHS database somewhere.

    • Worship Dancer

nah – THOSE have been erased.

  • http://whatandever.blogspot.com/ Osumashi Kinyobe

    Were they angrily shopping?

    • VekTor

      It’s not looting… it’s “undocumented shopping”.

      • http://whatandever.blogspot.com/ Osumashi Kinyobe

        Ah, naturally.

      • Damien Johnson

you are killing me with this undocumented shopping stuff.

  • BillyHW

    They look like Obama’s sons.

  • SophieRo3

But, don’t make the mistake of assuming that their behaviour will be considered unjustifiable…

‘If you call it a riot (Rodney King riot) it sounds like it was just a bunch of crazy people who went out and did bad things for no reason. Riot implies to me wild, crazed, uncalled-for actions and I’m not so sure that’s quite appropriate for what took place in Los Angeles. It was unfortunate that it takes things like this rebellion to wake people up. I maintain it was somewhat understandable, if not acceptable…It was only a rebellion… a spontaneous reaction to a lot of injustice and a lot of alienation and frustration…There were mothers who took this as an opportunity to take some milk, to take some bread, to take some shoes. Maybe they shouldn’t have done it, but the atmosphere was such that they did it. They are not crooks.’

    – Congresswoman Maxine Waters during the LA riots

Hey, maybe, Susan Rice came up with the ‘spontaneous reaction’ explanation for Benghazi from what Maxine Waters said 19 years ago.

    • nc

      Some things never change.

      • Adela Wagner

She should ask Reginald Denny what he calls it.

    • Pam Oswald

    • NRPax

I actually had a teacher call it a rebellion about a week after the riots. For me, you could call that my Moment of Clarity when I realized that I had no place with liberals like that at all.

    • robcrawford2

I wonder what Maxine would have said if someone had responded with, “A rebellion, you say? Well, then, best to ensure it’s put down as thoroughly as the last one. Bring up the artillery!”

    • Cliff Daugherty

The rioting going on now was not spontaneous…if you remember, it was announced “before” the verdict that if he was found “not guilty” that the complete nation would have riots….and they were hoping this would happen…to have an excuse to steal and destroy property…exactly like the riot in Watts…a hot summer…most likely unemployed….their life is not happy in their personal situation…yes, they are angry…I probably would be too…but destroy everything around you? You would have to look at that destruction in your own neighborhood…they are really crazy!

  • waltermitty2012

The DOJ better indict Zimmerman soon, it’s the only way to calm Obama’s base.

    • TJ

Then the protest riot will turn into a celebration party. The outcome will still be the same with property damage, thefts and assaults but, with a smile and not vengeful hate.

    • Cliff Daugherty

They already have had a trial…the jury has heard both sides…and all in the jury voted “not guilty” This is our system…we have to accept that….I didn’t like the verdict when OJ was found “not guilty” ….what goes around, comes around….look at OJ now…behind bars! All this rioting over just one trial? It’s just an excuse to riot….steal, and destroy property….And why look for GZ to be marked for death? Why not go after the jury that made the decision? It’s always a bad thing for anyone to be killed….but it happens all the time…somewhere….And that somewhere, someone else is in a similar trial for murder…maybe another non black killing a black person…So is the Federal Government going to follow every case and keep the public informed on all the details? We never would stop the rioting….leaving our Country nothing but war-torn shambles

  • $7610427

Why do they always “protest” at some kind of retailer???

    • William PokerMonkey Souther

      that’s a trick question, right?

      • $7610427

It was rhetorical and sarcastic…hahaha. I know full well why they protest at a retail establishment…

    • Worship Dancer

because that’s where all the stuff is – oh it’s not free? well for those protesting they just declared it was.

      • VekTor

Why do you hate undocumented shoppers? Isn’t it about time that they “came out of the shadows”?

        • Adela Wagner

They are “good for the economy”…an advertisers dream, after all they only shop for the very best, in all the trendiest locations…

    • Ken Alan Draper

so that the protest profits them, if there was no profit in it, they wouldn’t do it. but this is a chance to score a 52″ lcd t.v. , some DVD’s, a huffy bicycle, & some skiddles & arizona ice tea to mix with the codiene cough syrup they stole from the pharmacy to make “purple drank”

      • Cliff Daugherty

        You are exactly right Ken

    • Cliff Daugherty

Well, Wal-Mart and such places have large parking area….and when a lot of people storm through the front door and trample the Wal-Mart greeter….such a wide variety of items to take and run out the door…in a large crowd of yelling misfits, they figure: …can’t catch everyone!

    • $7610427

My question was rhetorical. I just find it amusing they certain segments of our society take their protests to WalMart…or Foot Locker.

  • justinc333

Former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is probably relieved he doesn’t have to deal with this. His successor, Eric Garcetti, on the other hand, just took office on July 1st. Oy.

  • SutureSelf

It’s ironic that the protesters who refused to disperse after being ordered to by the police blame George Zimmerman for not obeying a dispatcher who told him he needn’t follow Martin.

    • TexSizzle

A: The dispatcher did not tell Zimmerman not to follow Martin; he was told, “We don’t need you to do that”. B: Zimmerman replied, “Okay” and headed back to his vehicle.

  • Cliff Daugherty

It sounds like history starting to be repeated again….just like the Watts incident years ago….a hot summer, people unemployed and angry with their personal situation….they say they are doing the protests and the rioting because of “not guilty” verdict…This is the reason to riot? …Why didn’t they riot when OJ was found “not guilty”? They just want to have any excuse to riot….Why have a death threat for GZ? The jury made the decision…why not have an excuse to go after them? Doesn’t make any sense at all….they are all crazy and should be put behind bars!

  • Spinmamma

I was so hoping it wouldn’t turn into the usual looting and breaking things.

  • SutureSelf

The ultimate bottom line is that this entire controversy could have been precluded if on March 23 President Obama, instead of saying “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” had said “This is not a federal issue. It is a local crime issue and therefore outside the province of the presidency.” It was president Obama, standing at the apex with a snowball who started its roll down the hill.

    • Dick Beninya

      HORRIBLE. The president is dishonorable.

      • http://www.shockandblog.com/ Jay McHue

That’s been known since before he ever took office.

    • nc

He also could have been encouraging people to remain calm, no matter the outcome, well BEFORE the verdict was reached. Including some behind the scenes phone calls to Sharpton & Co. to dial back the rhetoric. But nooooo, he and Holder encouraged this.

As for the media’s role, there are no words. This is serious stuff happening, and it’s on their heads. You simply cannot whip people up the way they do, then expect them to say oh, ok. Not that I’m letting anyone off the hook of personal responsibility. At all. It’s just so predictable, sadly.

      • Republicanvet

…yet Sharpton and Jizzy are organizing protests in over 100 cities…

    • Mary123s

as much as I don’t like O, that would not have a difference. My folks are too invested in hating whites rather than fixing our problems. Blaming one white person is easier than to admit 75% illegitimacy rate and high amounts of crime (mostly in *our* neighborhoods) and taking care of that

  • radicallyalyssa

Very grateful to be living in a small town. My Walmarts and roads aren’t being trashed! Very lucky indeed.

  • gideonpm222

It seems to me the real agenda behind the protest was to grab some free goods from Walmart and terrorize working people. Please tell me there be some white folks and other colors besides black stealing. How embarrassing I have to hope for that. I give, can’t fix those that feel stealing’s a good thing. I going to hide

  • Republicanvet

“All this for a flag” – Moochie. As for Wal-Mart getting trashed, what does one expect when the left has been demonizing them for years.

    • Richard Wayne

the ironic part is that after all that demonization, it was their tax and regulation policy that made big box stores supplant the little guy. When profit margins shrink, only the big guys can stream line enough. And even then, they direct their workers to the food stamp line to supplement their wages…

  • Richard Wayne

The living consequences of failed civic class teachings… truly sickening that people feel they are justified in acting like a mob.

  • Flavius Josephus

Some forty-odd years ago, in New York City (Another land of “OZ”) there was a black-out in New York City which, of course, spurred on all kinds of looting/pillaging and whatever else Mob crowds do. The very next day, after power was restored, on one of the major news network they had an interview with one of the “residents” of the poorer neighborhoods who exclaimed, rather joyfully, “To all these folks in this neighborhood Christmas came early this year ….”

This is the mentally of the folks who commit these acts, does it help you understand them any better?

Screw these protesters. The only reason they are still protesting is because we, as a country, have agreed not only to put up with this behavior but we praise it. Like the OJ riots, this is now the jerks, looters, & gang bangers taking over….destroying their own community to show us, what? They don’t like the law?
A group of black teens beat up 2 or 3 white girls one Halloween just 3-4 years ago….to a pulp. Guess what? They all walked. Media in LA & Long Beach ignored it.
    Hispanic man kills black teen.
An excuse to beat Hispanics now? To escalate the already tepid Hispanic – Black
community even more? It will be a long, long summer………
Al Sharpton said he wanted to see Zimmerman charged with a felony, he was. Sharpton said he wanted a trial, there was a trial. Sharpton said he wanted a justice dept. review, there was such a review by Holder’s team. Sharpton said he wanted a jury to hear the evidence, they did. The judicial process went forth….& this is the result. Like it or not, the process did work. All w/o the ‘stand your ground law’ used by the defense. Remember, Zimmerman’s team did not use it. He would have been forced to take the stand had they done so….almost certainly.

I did not like the Robert Blake trial result.

    Nor the OJ result.

    Nor the Scooter Libby result.

Nor the Ray Lewis trial result.

Nor the Klaus Von Bulow result.

Nor did I like the result of a recent Orange County white gang murder case, where all the accused walked….

Guilty people do sometimes walk….even though we all think otherwise.

Guilty people sometimes turn out not to be so guilty of the crime they were charged with. Zimmerman did kill Martin. But, the 2-3 minutes of confrontation between the two men 1 29, the other 17 1/2, is what it all came down to……& the jury decided on only that.
I think George Zimmerman is a wannabe, jerky, doughy, cop fanatic guy who did worry about the crime in his neighborhood…which was an active crime spot….& he called 911, good, right thing to do. He gave info, good, thing to do. Everything he did after that was just plain stupid & foolish & legal……it ain’t illegal to drive down a street and follow someone w/o confronting them, it ain’t illegal to get out of your car if a 911 operator suggests otherwise.

    • Rena

Not sure I remember anyone rioting after the OJ verdict but celebrating, Perhaps you are thinking about the Rodney King case where the 4 cops got off and they rioted, end result in a lot of property damage and theft and the beating of Reginald Denny?

    • TexSizzle

Once again, spreading the lie about “get[ting] out of your car if a 911 operator suggests otherwise.” Zimmerman was already out of his car when he called 911. The dispatcher said, “We don’t need you to follow him” and he said “Okay”.
