Rescue crews in Michigan City, Ind., pulled an 8-year-old boy from a sinkhole where he had been trapped for more than three hours. The sinkhole appeared at Mount Baldy near the shore of Lake Michigan.

WGN reports that the boy was trapped under nearly 11 feet of sand. His condition is currently unknown.

    I didn’t know Indiana could have sinkholes, but then again, that’s about the only place in Indiana that has sand.

    Mt. Baldy is the steepest dune @ Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. I’ve climbed it many times. Happy thoughts for the boy and for his full recovery!

    It is not a sink hole I live 20 minutes away from here it is a sand hole the section of the beach where he was had been closed off for a restoration project he was playing in the hole when it collapsed

    Thank God he’s ok. I, too have spend many a day on that hill, I have never seen any thing like this.
