Let her be clear: A Is For… co-founder Martha Plimpton doesn’t want to hear about the Kermit Gosnell case, and if you bring it up in the context of today’s arguments for and against new abortion restrictions in Texas, you will be blocked immediately. See?

Not surprisingly, Plimpton’s partner in A Is For…, comedian Lizz Winstead, doesn’t want to talk about Gosnell either. She’s bored by attempts to politicize the Gosnell murder case, which has nothing to do with safe, legal abortion by health providers who care. Sally Kohn, too, is frustrated by people using the horrific trial to turn people against late-term abortion.

That doesn’t have to stop the rest of Twitter from talking about Gosnell, though. Often lost alongside Texas’ proposed ban on most abortions past 20 weeks are new safety regulations directly inspired by the Gosnell case. The legislation would require physicians who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital, require abortions to be performed in ambulatory surgical centers and require doctors themselves to administer abortion-inducing drugs.

As loudly as pro-abortion activists denounced Gosnell as a murderer and psychopath once he was convicted, in the early days of his practice he was a hero to many feminists by offering abortions without apology. In 1972, Gosnell told the Philadelphia Inquirer, “I am very concerned about the sanctity of life. But it is for this precise reason that I provide abortions for women who want and need them.” Through his trial he contended that he himself was a legit, caring health care provider.

Still, abortion advocates argue that forcing Texas clinics to correct the fatal shortcomings that characterized Gosnell’s clinic would only create more Gosnells, by forcing Gosnell-like clinics to upgrade their level of medical care or close down.

Like it or not, the Kermit Gosnell case looms large over the proceedings in Austin, Texas, and blocking followers on Twitter won’t change that.

    Blocked immediately? The HORROR!

    • mickeyco

Ruins my day not to be able to tweet Martha Plimpton, I tell you.

      • trixiewoobeans

It was TOTALLY on my “To Do” list! I was saving it for last as a treat to myself, now I can’t! Oh, the humanity!

      • Jeremy

Yeah I know what will I ever do now

  • BigDogJunction

Eh, just sent her a message saying I blocked her myself.

Yep… that’s about how important she is, also.

    • Jeremy

      ha ha good going.

    • Worship Dancer

HAHA i actually sent her a tweet saying “Martha who?”

  • trixiewoobeans

Her blocked button may be smoking, but certainly not her intellect.

    • CatHerder

      Or body.

    • mike_in_kosovo

The smoke is her mental clutch slipping

      • Worship Dancer

and here i thought perhaps it was the crap leaking out that was smoking.

  • ChelieinTX

I’ve read that since Hollywood is a hotbed of rampant sex, there are LOTS of abortions among actresses. This goes a long way toward explaining their absolute insanity regarding the killing of babies, IMO.

  • 1SkepticalChick

She blocked me, and I didn’t even mention Gosnell! Snort. Waiting until she block entire Twitter and then whines because no one will talk to her.

    • Worship Dancer

i may have to directly tweet her and just call her a gosnellette

  • Ntr

Wow, a leftover from the 80s. I’m sure the people who were blocked by her are so heartbroken over it!

As for the younger people (see: under 25) i bet they have no clue who she is until they look her up. Then they’re like, “Oh, the dumb/boring one from The Goonies.” 😀

It’s amusing that Plimpton, an “illigitimate baby” as Wikipedia puts it, is intent on allowing “legit, caring, health providers” to murder her peers.

  • Red Fred

Martha doesn’t realize the laws they are trying to pass are to make abortion clinics adhere to the same standards as other medical facilities. Choice? How about you choose preventative measures.

    • 1SkepticalChick

Yep, that’s what I was telling her. She replied twice, then blocked me.

@1SkepticalChick There is nothing “routine” abt these requirements. They are made up in order to achieve closings.
@1SkepticalChick That’s a specious and inaccurate statement. These laws have nothing to do with safety or women’s health.

When my daughter was a child actress and series regular on a NBC show, we had the misfortune of meeting Plimpton. If only the block button could have existed then in real life as opposed to digital life, we would have been better off. She, apparently, is still as insufferable today as she was then…

  • Derek

Twitchy, why are you ignoring the fact that Texas has its own Gosnell? You know, Douglas Karpen?

  • DrSamHerman

Who in the hell is Martha Plimpton? Another has-been looking for free publicity?

  • Angie

Martha is all about protecting a woman’s “Constitutional” right to an abortion, which isn’t actually written in the Constitution but comes from vague “penumbras” (read Roe v. Wade — the entire thing is based on the “penumbra” of privacy in the Constitution), but she has no problem advocating getting rid of people’s right to bear arms — which is written clearly in black & white in the 2nd Amendment. That’s the bankrupt idiot “logic” of the vile progs in a nutshell.

  • EastValleyConservative

Another has-been average actress who thinks her opinion reigns supreme above all others. It’s hard to believe she has many followers to block.

  • Slugglife

Close your liberal legs. See how easy that is?

  • notenoughtime

Newsflashh to Martha there is only a thin line between Gosnell and what she considers well intentioned providers. Respect for life is respect for life. If she was honest with herself, the real issue is why are so many still opting for abortions when birth control is readily available! Irresponsible behavior is irresponsible behavior and should not result in taxpayers funding eliminating life.

  • Bathing Suit Area

If abortion providers are like Gosnell, then all gun owners are Adam Lanza, and all Christians are Timothy McVeigh. Fair is fair, after all.

    • QueenB

You’re right fair is fair. And since all gun owners have been compared to Adam Lanza, as evidenced by the gun control law proposed that will not deter crime, but law abiding citizens, yes all abortion providers are like Gosnell. Glad we agree.

  • I Am Breitbart

Who’s Martha Plimpton?!?!?! Oh right…the chick from the “Goonie’s”

  • QueenB

As I have found with most liberals, they are the most intolerant, hateful people who confronted with opinions different than theirs. The truth is, they know, deep down, their “ideals” amount to nothing of any good, and they really do not have any way to defend them. So, instead of trying to defend their ideals and looking stupid, they just block the person calling them out and pretend it never happened.
