Wing walker Jane Wicker and her pilot, Charlie Schwenker, were killed tragically today at an air show in Dayton, Ohio, when a stunt went terribly wrong. Stunned witnesses captured the horror of the moment on video, but Wicker’s Twitter feed paints a much happier picture of a woman eager to entertain no matter the risk.

Wicker was recently grounded with an injury unrelated to her act, and the Dayton show was one of her first following her recovery.

Update:

An interview Wicker did with WDTN-TV in Dayton just before the air show is making the rounds on YouTube.

Many outlets are reporting the pilot was her ex-husband Kirk Wicker as the pilot who died. Not a good thing to get confused, he’s dealing with the loss of his teenage sons’ mother and also having to explain he wasn’t killed. What a nightmare for this family. May they feel loving arms of God surrounding them right now, as well as the family of Charlie.

Why is this even a news story?

Because someone died exotically in a plane crash. The media can’t help themselves.
