Investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson, who exposed that horrible “Star Trek” parody put together by the IRS, didn’t think much of the agency’s training methods, and she’s critical of the agency’s oversight of charities and nonprofits. The IRS’ targeting of conservative groups has brought to light the process of vetting groups applying for nonprofit status, and Attkisson suspects the agency’s getting rolled by special interests on both sides.

As someone that’s been on the net for about 15 years, if it’s taught me anything, it’s that you believe nothing of what you read unless you’ve searched out the facts yourself. There is what is said, how it’s said, what’s not been said, and who is commenting on it.

Nothing. Not from anyone, anywhere. And everyone has an agenda. And there isn’t a blog with more than one person on it that hasn’t been trolled. And that businesses, politiicians and inviduals will troll others or pay others to troll them. Some folks even troll themselves.

EVERYONE has an agenda, even those who say that they don’t have an agenda. I’m hoping that Ms Attkisson is merely teaching and not having a revelation because if it’s the latter, I would ask ‘where have you been?’

      Excellent post JR.

Wait a minute! I’ve been online since 1996. Are you saying that the NIGERIAN BARRISTER I have been working with to recover the fortune of my long, lost uncle, may not be legit?

Please reply soon, I need to send him another check tomorrow. Those Nigerian Probate Courts are a real pain!

      • Catchance

LOL. No, really. I laughed out loud.

“you believe nothing of what you read unless you’ve searched out the facts yourself” – That’s half of what I find on social networks. Someone spouts something that a couple Bing searches can prove to be erroneous.
Pretty much anything against the Tea Party is a lie.

(Even the Koch brothers “funded” spiel. They’ve funded a couple smaller factions of it, yes. But that’s like if they bought a couple Subway franchises and suddenly are in control of Subway)

    • Iamwethepeople

Agreed. I post in the hopes that I might influence a few people to think for themselves rather than just believing the dogma spewed out of partisan hacks.

So, I too have an agenda.

she’s the best the MSM has to offer. Hope she ends up at Breitbart

    • rennyangel2

Hope she stays at CBS and changes the culture.

I hope she doesn’t get fired or sent to Syria.

    Debra Burlingame @DebraBurlingame

@SharylAttkisson Thankyou for this. Puts Pelosi’s accusation that Tea P was “astroturf” in real perspective. Tells me she knows the tactic.

Love how Debra Burlingame (remember her?) connected the dots on this one.

Deborah Burlingame – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
        en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deborah_Burlingame‎

Debra Burlingame (born 1954) is the sister of Charles “Chic” Burlingame III, the pilot of the hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 that was flown into the Pentagon …

MSNBC trends its low rated shows with fake/anonymous accounts.

    • rennyangel2

If the cons press didn’t insist on promoting what MSNBC says day after day, no one would know what it was. With 1/2 million viewers, on the average per show, the station is virtually dead. Consider, Rush gets 20-24,000,000 listeners a week, and the left considers him “marginalized” or fringe.

  • gekkobear

She’s right… check something politically innocuous like Amazon or other website “Product Reviews”.

IF you look, you’ll find a “review” that looks more like a press release from the manufacturer in the mix; without much effort.

  • Paul C.

Fox should hire Sharyl as she’s not allowed her full potential where she is at.

    • nc

On the other hand, she HAS been very effective where she is at CBS, surprisingly so, so maybe she could be a positive influence there.

  • Steve_J

Any comment that begins; “i’ve been a republican all my life but…”.

  • JustLikeAnimals

“Sometimes one individual operates over many personas to give the impression of widespread support for their client’s agenda…”

Knowingly or not, @SharylAttkisson just described the main stream media’s relationship with Barack Obama to a tittle.

  • $23089169

Sounds like a story Attkisson is working on and my guess is CBS producers are refusing to put it on the air.

  • irishgirl91

Did journalist ever know how to pull the lever in a voting booth and keep their beliefs for the the rest of the year to themselves? I love Ms. Atkisson, but CBS is dead to me except for Person of Interest and Criminal Minds.

  • AWomaninTX

“Sometimes one individual operates over many personas to give the impression of widespread support for their client’s agenda…”

When a person would do this on a site to promote their particular point in any given argument, we used to call that “sockpuppeting”.

Or maybe that was just back in the late 90’s.

I am not surprised at all that non-profits or political groups would practice this as well. Corporate entities have been known to do this for *years*.
