Don’t judge Politico’s Glenn Thrush for judging Oklahoma senators Tom Coburn and Jim Inhofe. Coburn invited criticism by voting against the pork-filled Sandy aid package and then revealing he’d seek spending offsets to pay for any federal assistance with tornado disaster recovery. It was shocking that Coburn would even think of money at a time like this — particularly to those waiting for Coburn to announce if he’d seek spending offsets.

Climate change? That speaks for itself, doesn’t it? Those senators were practically begging to be hit with a tornado by denying man-made climate change.

Is this sarcasm or a rare incidence of self-awareness?

Here’s one of those questions journalists like Thrush never seem to ask.

  • HoneyTree EvilEye

I guess he doesn’t realize the government wastes more and more tax dollars every year and Nature and science are also global warming deniers. Guess they can expect to get what they got coming to them as well, can science be hit with a tornado?

  • DV S1EOG

Hey! People are in a living hell…. Great time to start changing the subject from helping those affected to climate change and Sandy Hurricane relief bills that were laden with additional pork spending. It is fine for the left to start politicizing a tragedy, while it is in progress but, Romney criticizing the Cairo Embassy for sending out an apology about a crappy video that nobody saw was considered politicizing the Benghazi attack and was wrong. Instead of speaking and tweeting these people need to suck-start some shotguns.

I know it’s so weird, there is like a cycle to weather and stuff. I guess we are just a bunch of “deniers” for noticing it.

      • trixiewoobeans

I KNOW! Ever since childhood, I’ve heard it referred to as “weather”, good weather, bad weather, rainy weather. I remember the old saying, “everybody complains about the weather, but nobody does anything about it!” We all just took that fickle, changeable weather for granted, but not anymore! Now they want answers from weather! It’s got some ‘splainin’ to do! No more denying! They want to know exactly what it’s intentions are, so they can regulate it and pass some laws! No more freedoms, weather, the gig is up! Crazy control freaks.

  • DV S1EOG

Yes, these tornadoes are all because of climate change. Let’s all forget that the Earth goes through constant temperature changes and has done so since it was formed. Let’s also forget that at one time, there was an Ice Age, and all that ice melted…before humans could “cause” climate change. We also need to forget that what makes all of these different storms so much more devastating is the fact that there is a much higher human population so when massive storms strike, most likely a large amount of people will be caught in the middle of them. I guess if a volcano opened up in the middle of NY City, which would cause a lot of devastation that it would be because of climate change as well. I am really, really starting to hate people so much more. I wonder if I could get on the next flight to Mars. At least I will no longer pay taxes and will not be subject to Obamacare.

    • Mr. Saturn

Not to mention North America is especially prone to tornadoes.

    • Jon

The upper part of Manhattan, and the Palisades across the Hudson in New Jersey, are basalt cliffs created by a huge lava flow 200 million years ago that was part of the continental separation which created the Atlantic Ocean.

So, yea, New York City was basically created by a volcano. Not sure who the current denizens of the city, or of Washington D.C., would blame that bit of global warming on.

  • Conservagrl

Earth Day started because the ice age was coming in 1980, then somehow we shifted to global warming, when that got debunked it became climate change. The only change that seems to be happening is from the left when they change their opinions because the previous opinions didn’t pan out.

    • kenai

They forgot about atomic bomb testing that caused climate change back in the fifties.

    • tiorbinist

Actually, it’s a breath of fresh air that the Liberals are changing the name of “global disaster prediction” pseudoscience. They haven’t changed their opinions one bit: Never waste a good crisis, never fail to gin up a good crisis if one isn’t happening already.

For climate change, the one to blame is the guy who disappeared the Medieval Optimum and published the low-information high-misuse-of-statistics report with the Hockey Stick graph? Michael Mann.

The Sandy bill was a dog, and I am in Sandy territory. We can never stop the endless spending if we just keep spending.

As for the terrible tornado, it is called “tornado alley,” so someone must have seen a tornado there once in a while.

Statistically, tornadoes are at their lowest occurrence in 20 years. I know that is no consolation to those with destruction, injuries, and losses, yet nature is nature, and one disaster does not make global warming, make more increased disaster aid a theme to jump on, or make any senator concerned about his own state an aberration.

The people of Xenia, Ohio would beg to differ on the tornado/global warming link. Their town was destroyed for the 1st time in the 70s by an F5 that occurred during alleged global cooling. For good measure it got creamed again 20 years later.

Liberals have absolutely zero basis to claim that global warming had anything to do with this or any other tornado, but that doesn’t stop them for politicizing with a vengeance.

Firstly, Mr/ Thrush, you would want the Government to deny these storm victims aid and comfort, because of what their Senators/Congressmen believe? In a time when, now more than ever, they need help? (Thank GOD FOR GLENN BECK!) And second, did you know that before Regan, before”Global Warming/Climate Change,” there were Tornadoes, dust storms, and wildfires caused by lightning in these midwestern states? If you were there tosee the effect (and aftermath) of this storm, your tune would change in an INSTANT!

All of you are wrong, and so is Glenn Thrush. Global Warming and “just a tornado” aren’t what caused the tornado in Oklahoma. It was OBVIOUSLY George W Bush. I’m sure Glenn Thrush would have had that be his second guess.

there are no more tornadoes nowadays as there were in the past or in the distant past. North America gets 75% of the world’s tornadoes. Unfortunate. Not as terrible as these mush-for-brains, no-morals/conscience Liberals, though! Biggest threat to the country we have, way more than any natural disaster!

Then there’s the Newsweek story way back that blamed tornadoes on global cooling. Thrush would have been in that pack too.
