It turns out you didn’t even have to watch tonight’s episode of “Glee” to hear the sermon on gun control. The New York Daily News spoiled some of the suspense earlier today when it revealed that (spoiler!) the school shooting at fictional McKinley High was just an accident — a student had brought her father’s gun to school under the influence of those fear-mongering gun nuts.

Teacher Sue Sylvester claimed the gun was hers, taking the fall for the incident, but not the blame. “Parents with troubled kids are too busy working three jobs to look after them, and the gun yahoos have everyone so worked up about Obama taking away their guns that every house has a readily available arsenal,” she explained.

A member of the Newtown Action Alliance had posted a warning on Facebook, advising other members not to watch. Too soon?

Another spoiler: the shooter was special-needs student Becky.

A couple of random extras on the set: “Seriously, you guys?”
    Everyone else: “Seriously, you guys.”

  • FreedomFighter

I think liberal Hollywood just destroyed any support for gun control from the younger audience.

    • mickeyco

      We wish.

    • $46661540

I always thought Fox was on our side.

      • John (it true me am)

Fox News is a largely different entity. The Fox broadcast network has a long history of pushing out the “edgiest” stuff it can get its hands on at any given time.

      • ThatConfused1

Fox News butts heads with Fox Entertainment at times to boot.

      • Joe W.

FOXNews and FOX Entertainment are NOT one and the same.

      • n4cerinc

that is like saying the car salesman is on my side. No, he is just telling you what he knows you want to hear.

  • Clayton Grant

Any hope the show’s sponsors take a long, hard look at this Fox show? I think not.

People in the entertainment industry need to learn to keep their politics to themselves. What morons.

    • ThatConfused1

And yet they think that by putting their own politics into the industry, they can ultimately drum out opposing views and dominate the debates.

  • Jimni27

Not surprised. Ryan Murphy lost me with last season’s American Horror Story when he made it all about nuns and priests having sex with each other. All he cares about is pushing his liberal agenda on the masses. It’s a shame because both series’ started off so well.

    • John (it true me am)

While there is no doubt Murphy has a liberal agenda in 99% of his crap, I don’t think the AHS complaint is fair. There was one extremely corrupt priest(Fiennes’ character) yes, but of the two nuns in question one was possessed by a demon(Rabe) and the other(Lange) simply had fantasies she was dealing with(and actually overcame). It wasn’t about priests and nuns having sex with each other in the slightest. When things were said and done it actually had a fairly positive depiction of Jessica Lange’s character and redemption, and Rabe’s character was always a very positive depiction herself with the actions being solely that of a demon. Considering the context of an extremely dark horror series, I’m not sure it could have done better.

(AHS is the only series he has ever made I don’t think is utterly horrible. :X)

      • Jimni27

Sorry, have to disagree with you there. I said having sex because I didn’t want to get too descriptive in all the ways he slammed the Catholic church, but since you brought it up- the corrupt priest was politically motivated and therefore let abuse go on in the asylum, they also made him, and both nuns looked to be sexually repressed, that they enjoyed people stripping down and being whipped. He definitely is pissed off at the church. Also, Jessica Lange’s character was an alcoholic, who only redeemed herself after the tables were turned on her. Loved the first season, and so wanted to love the second because the actors were so unbelievably good, but even they couldn’t save that season.

        • John (it true me am)

The priest was a villain, no doubt there, motivated by greed and hunger for power. But alone this is not inherently a bash on the Catholic church, the simple truth of the matter is that even some real life popes have been villains(Borgia being the big pop culture reference of late) and it is being overly sensitive to say that a largely singular character is an “unfair” attack on the church.

And again, one of the two nuns in question was shown to be completely innocent prior to demonic possession. Rabe’s character was not shown to enjoy stripping down and whipping people or any such thing, and while she was most definitely sexually innocent and naive(what you read as “repressed”) this was shown to be a blatantly good and honest thing in the story in her case. And while Lange’s character definitely had issue after issue and had to turn a corner to go from bad to good, redemption is a very important thing. She was an alcoholic show girl who fled to the church out of fear(ie: the wrong reasons) who in the end found her way. To be redeemed is as important as being pure in the first place.

I’m not saying Murphy likes the Catholic church and that he wouldn’t love to tear them down. Odds are pretty good he’s pretty anti-Catholic. I just don’t believe that AHS is a representation of such, as (again, given the context of a dark horror story) it wasn’t really out of line at all. Lange’s story was actually one of the most pro-redemption through Christ stories it could have possibly been.

And without spoiling too much, let’s not forget the real and true villain of the piece was a pure secularist through and through.

          • Jimni27

Okay I see your points but I still watched the show and thought wow- Murphy must really be peeved at the Catholic church, lol. I’m not even that religious but I was brought up Catholic- I just think he went too much for the shock value with the sexual parts regarding the church. I think he does some good there too with incorporating gay characters. And also that he loves the cast of Six Feet Under so much he keeps giving them roles. And of course Zachary Quinto is just the icing on the cake :)

  • Frustrated Teacher

Just another reason I do NOT watch this show. They seem to try and offend everyone who has any traditional mores or who does not swing the same way as the Hollywood crowd….that makes them tools of the left!

    • ThatConfused1

Glee “students” reminds me of all the trash that harassed me though Middle and High School choirs. Can not stand this show.

    • Cesar Perez

Not really. They did manage to offend down syndrome people. Libs don’t like to offend people who have mentally challenged problems.

      • Erik

Cesar, if you’re serious in your assertion that “Libs don’t like to offend people who have mentally challenged problems,” you are delusional. Libturds will offend whomever, whenever, in order to score political points. Do some research, dude.

        • Christian Orpinell

It’s funny because when liberals try to be politically correct about everything they’re in actuality offending everyone.

  • Ben Bollman

Like I needed another reason to hate that show

  • Corey Dennison

That show jumped the shark so long ago, that fish is a dot on the horizon in their rear-view mirror. (Mix metaphor alert…)

    • ThatConfused1

Whatever duct tape they’re using to attach that Mirror to the mast is, I want it.

  • Glitter

I had no idea that dreck was still on tv.

  • kate_middleton

Glee has been preachy and overly political for a long time. I enjoyed the first season, but stopped watching early in Season 2. And I haven’t regretted it. Ryan Murphy is a hack who brings his liberal politics to all of his work.

I think it is possible for school violence to be handled in a sensitive way in TV. One Tree Hill, a long-running CW show, did an episode about a school shooting years ago. It was incredibly moving. There was no focus on guns, but on bullying (before it was a cause célèbre) and mental illness. The shooter ended up only killing himself. It wasn’t preachy – it just made you sad and made you think. And they talked about it in subsequent episodes over the years, never forgetting what happened.

  • Rightturn

In case anyone’s wondering what the conversation’s really looking like on Twitter:

  • Uncle Paul Hahrrgis

They lost me with that “ban the r-word” commercial during the bullying cause du jour, I’m not the least bit surprised they have a just as frivolous, disingenuous and parochial interpretation of the 2nd amendment.

They couldn’t have been more inflammatory and divisive if they had had the gay kid contract HIV; this episode stinks of more stale, unfounded cliches than Brad Paisley’s “accidental racist.”

  • Emily B

If ever there was a show with a liberal agenda….it is Glee. I watched the first season and semi-enjoyed it, but I only lasted about three episodes into the second season before I had to quit. Disgusting.

  • Anderson

Pretty disgraceful. I saw the writing on the wall with the first few episodes and haven’t watched it since. So many things wrong with this that I don’t even know where to start.

  • 1SkepticalChick

What gets me is that, with all the talk about gun violence & mental illness. they would choose a Downs Syndrome child as the shooter. Downs Syndrom is not a mental illness.

  • Johnny_Layabout

Wait, let me see if I got this straight…

Glee is still on the air?

    • John (it true me am)

The first time anyone has ever used Glee and straight in the same sentence.

    • ThatConfused1

Sister-In Law watches it clockwork, sadly yes.

Damn show can be shoved into Niflheim for all I care.

  • Agent_Zeero

“Glee”????? Is that show still on?

  • raysgem

I think Parents with troubled kids are too busy working three jobs to look after them, the parents should spend more time caring about their kids other than watching thier favourite TV show in the bathroom by the Waterproof TV after a day work.

  • LinTaylor

I’m sure they’ll find a way to use the Down Syndrome girl getting a gun from her parent into another barb aimed squarely at Sarah Palin. Probably bring back that sanity-eroding harpy Kathy Griffin while they’re at it.

  • AOC Breeze

When did right thinking people develop the “Easily Offended” gene? That used to be the province of leftists

    • Jillane Kent

I believe, from a demographic standpoint, that you’ll find most conservatives and libertarians do not care enough about Glee to be offended all that much or easily outraged. This stunt is par for the course.

  • 24fan

glad i stay as far from this show as possible..the songs (some of them) aren’t too bad but episodes in general no thanks. better shows out there for me

  • Joe W.

I have been around many, MANY folks with Down Syndrome throughout my entire lifetime. These are the sweetest people on God’s earth. I have NEVER known a person so afflicted to be in the least bit violent. Quite the opposite. While I have never watched this show, and never would, I believe that they have brought a degree of nastiness to the medium that did not exist before. How dare they attempt to entertain with such vile garbage as this?? I cannot wait to read Sarah Palin’s response to this idiocy.

    • ThatConfused1

I’ve never seen one person with down syndrome even remotely want to take something dangerous to school or deal with something dangerous and most parents and volunteer caretakers for down syndrome individuals are trained to prevent any hazardous objects, chemicals, or environments being exposed to the individual. This show makes me sick to my stomach with how sloppy the writing of this plot point truly is.

  • kayakingfatso

I’m more surprised that people actually watch this trash.

    • Christian Orpinell

      Same here!

I for one would rather watch my local abc news, or c-span if it came to watching Glee.

  • CavalierX

Wow… that was pretty shitty, even for a bunch of Liberals all hot to push their agenda.

  • RedSoloCup

The things Hollyweird will do for ratings on an already-gone show.

  • ToyZebra

Sounds like they shot themselves in the foot.

  • Lisa Dean

Hollywood: We are so sensitive to everyone’s feelings. We love everyone, want everyone to live peacefully and want everyone to be able to live in a Utopian nation where no one has to worry about anything.
Reality of Hollywood: You don’t like what we say, well then STFU you lazy, gun toting, thunder c*nt, pr*ck. Oh wait, something really, really bad happened in real life, well SNAP, that would make a great story for a tv show.

  • Guest

What idiots watch this show? If conservatives ever want to take back this country they have to stop giving money to Hollywood. Quit watching liberal tv and movies, they give the money to support DNC politics and to trash you.

  • Lisa Dean

Don Henley nailed it even decades ago, it’s only gotten worse. These lyrics are more accurate today than when he released the song. Sad, sad world.

  • torpedoman2002

Fox cancelled Firefly after one season but keeps airing this trash. Yea two stupid moves Fox.

    • Rulz

Fox is full of garbage from evidently this show (I’ve never seen it and from the good people on here say, I can’t say I’m sorry) and Family Guy and the Simpsons.

Seriously, I’ve seen better drawn cartoons on deviantart.

      • torpedoman2002

A two year old could draw better cartoons. They can also come up with funner material.

      • Christian Orpinell

The only reason people watch Family Guy is because people prefer watching… I can’t even think of what to say. Garbage is rather a compliment.

However, the people that I come across that ask me if they watch Family Guy are the same individuals that are downright low-lifes. No, I do not waste my precious life on something that’s worse than watching paint dry!

    • irishgirl91

So sad when Firefly cancelled, even sorrier to see what became of The Simpsons. I stuck w/it through the jokes on the repubs and conserv. but when the opening joke claimed American people didn’t hate Fox New, they just like all the other news channels (listed) including Al Jazeera, I was out for good.

      • torpedoman2002

I gave up on fox when the Simpsons and King of the Hill first aired. I found nothing funny about them. Also I saw the writing on the wall with fox. I could see they were liberal, and I knew it was a matter of time when they turned their anger on conservatives. I don’t watch Fox. In fact I don’t watch their football halftime or pregame shows anymore. They became just like the other broadcast channels. Watch as their viewership continue to plummet.

        • Art

I actually think there are good things to be said about King of the Hill, as well as the later show Goode Family. Unfortunately they cancelled that one.

  • Randi Starr

And everyone who just adores this show is surprised, why?

  • DurkaDurka

Look at all the angry chicks and homo’s. They’re watching glee and are suddenly offended. You. Are. Watching. Glee. You know, those degenerate Homo-fascist scumbags aka Hitler’s SA. What did you expect? Human rights? Miss that abortion episode did ya?

  • Walt

I’ve never even seen the show, but from what I hear, not missing much. If they have to have a gun shooting episode that makes people fell better, they should show a teacher with a CCW permit take out his glock and kill the shooter before anyone gets killed. That would be reality TV.

  • tops116

Let’s be fair: “Glee” regularly misfires. This time it was in regards to a social issue instead of (or should I say “in addition to”) the usual acting/singing/writing issues.

  • jetch

I don’t watch the show, but i’m assuming that the person who brought the gun to school was prosecuted and jailed right? did they show that important part of what should happen when someone does that?

  • radicallyalyssa

I understand Hollywood has to push a liberal agenda, but MY GOSH. This isn’t even remotely subtle.

  • Renny

    People really watch Glee?

  • K-Dubya

I thought it was already illegal to take a gun to school and shoot people with it. What surprises me most about this is that Glee is still on TV.

Never seen the show; the promos for it make it seem really lame.

  • Rulz

I’ll keep on exposing gun control nuts.

This show won’t be on my TV anytime soon.

And FYI: You’re not the only person who’s ever suffered tragedy and loss in life, either.

  • Randi Starr

Well, have the dead children been used by everyone possible from family, to president, from congress to TV….does this cover every avenue that wishes to use the tragedy in their best interest?

  • RblDiver

Of course you would never see a Hollywood production along the lines of: Person starts to shoot up school, is killed by responsible person nearby with CCW license before police get there.

  • Jonny Red

Now Glee has singing and grave dancing!

  • DwellsInFire

That show is still on TV? People, stop watching stupid crap or it won’t ever get canceled !

  • Gregg Hammerquist

I thought this show was over; it’s still on?

  • $27789750

There’s something about silly teens running about in their cheerleading outfits that takes away from the depth and seriousness of their actions and ideas.

  • Zefal

Let’s take away all the guns away from the gun nuts because they all are crazy in thinking we want to take away their guns!

  • waterytart

Have never watched the show, but am not surprised. Everyone has bowed down and kissed their “edgy” ass from day one so they felt they could do no wrong.

I’m sure they’re shocked at the negative response, after all they’ve been kind of a lib wet dream with their portrayals of their perception of life. Much as they’d like to believe otherwise, there are “lines” and Glee just crossed one.

  • Danny Wheeler

I never thought Glee would stoop that low.

  • $18912735

Glee is still on? Seriously? I thought that show was canceled a couple years ago…

  • Guest

I know how cold this sounds but you know what… the world does not stop or revolve around Newtown. These parents are turning being a victim into a career and they think their word matters more than mine or any of yours. A firearm saved my life as well as my fiancee and how dare they think they have the right to try and dismantle the 2nd Amendment due to a psychopath. Where is all the talk about mental health? the politicians have passed that on by to push the same old BS they have been trying since 1994.

  • irishgirl91

Not a fan of the type of show (never have watched Idol), add politics and I never had a reason to watch. Then again, as a gun owning, gay marriage supporting, traditionally married woman, I don’t exist so I guess I don’t count.

  • notenoughtime

Glee and Hollywood have taken on the finger wagging agenda and forgotten the real reason people tune in to their programs. It is to get away for all the problems and sermonizing that is creeping heavily into our daily lives. No need to watch TV or visit movie houses if they are becoming platforms for an agenda. Good luck with ratings and box office receipts when those needed to tune in are tuning out!

  • Lyle E Long

To top it off the person that brought the gun received no punishment no treatment and no exposure either. Typical liberal thinking. blame the gun

  • Richard Jefferies

So Glee purports to tell us that a student coming to school with a REAL gun would be on the receiving end of a mountain-full of sympathy and a teacher would take the blame to keep the student out of trouble. Wow, it’s a good thing the student didn’t fashion a gun out of Legos, a pop-tart, threaten someone with a water gun, or place a green army man on top of a cupcake or there’d be hell to pay..

  • regmgr

Just another leftist oriented show hopefully destined for the dung heap. Good by AND good riddance.

  • Christian Orpinell

I have liberal die hard relatives and when I heard they watch Glee I knew right off the bat it was a show regurgitated from the sewers of Hollywood.

Hahaha nothing new here for me.

I am all for artistic freedom, but this is just offensive, there is no artistry or creativity involved, just a bunch of messed up stereotypes mashed together. I don’t get why the PC crowd thinks they can get away with this type of shit without a peep from anyone. They so desperately want to be south park, only with singing hipster high school students hence the offensive humor, but manage to fail miserably each time.
