The White House actually makes a great concert venue once you clear out all of those pesky school kids in their tour groups. Fear not, though: we taxpayers might be locked out of the people’s house due to sequestration cuts, but “In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul” will be streamed live and then broadcast on PBS April 16. The performers will then pile into a bus and embark on a nationwide “Seques-tour.” (OK, not really.)

The program includes Alabama Shakes, Al Green, Ben Harper, Queen Latifah, Cyndi Lauper, Justin Timberlake, and a special fiddle performance by Emperor Nero. It’s the tenth “In Performance at the White House” event hosted by President Obama.

With that line up, the event should be called Reefer Madness at the White House. Choom. Choom.

It’s really hard to believe but everyday I get a little more convinced that the movie “Idiocracy” was a documentary. If you have not seen it, you should… not because it’s a good movie, but so you might have an idea as to how bad things will get before it’s over.

I wonder if they will serve Brawndo…. its got electrolytes.

I watched the movie “Idiocracy” and I agree, it seems like it could be viewed as a documentary on our future! Very sad how close we are!

“I know sh**’s bad right now with all that
starvin’ bulls***. And the dust storms. And we runnin’ out of french
fries and burrito coverings. But I got a solution. Memphis Soul Party!”

No more WH tours. Party House.

  • Love of Country

Shared sacrifice for thee …. but not for me.

And when I find some extra cash, I’ll let children visit the Whitehouse again.

  • notenoughtime

Thought the WH tours were eliminated because of that darn sequester. Do you think Timberlake and Green will have to show photo ID to get into the White House?

    • stellatruman

      no…that would be a racist

  • beebop1952

You would think that the bad visuals would finally get one person’s attention. But nope. Juan and Eva Peron just kick it into higher gear. Bread and circuses for the lowinfo crowd with their noses pressed up against the WH gates.

  • stellatruman

I think there is a better chance of touring the Playboy mansion for school children on field trips than the White House…I might have a little respect for any of these performers if one stood up and refused the invite and publically spoke out against the POTUS for closing it

  • InformNow

WH Tours “free”, how about the 1%’ers Justin Timberlake, Al Green, Queen Latifah and Others PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE and pay the money needed for the bills racked up for things like security, heat, lights, etc.! Seems only right, in the hard economic times of Sequester…

  • salvagesalvage

There has never been any event like this ever in the Bush White House.

Of course there was but wingnuts! That’s reality and that’s not their bag.
