Kudos to Beyonce for bringing the reporters assembled at today’s Super Bowl press conference to their feet — for a live rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Nothing wrong with a little patriotism, especially where the press is involved. Obviously, though, the stunt wasn’t about the anthem but about Beyonce, who was criticized for lip-syncing at President Obama’s inauguration ceremony.

After her performance, the singer laughed and asked, “Any questions?” Well, there’s the obvious question: why sing live at the Super Bowl but not inauguration? “It was about the president and the inauguration, and I wanted to make him and my country proud, so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry,” she explained.

Fans required no explanation, though.

So, if Beyonce sings live, it’s AMAZING. And if she lip syncs, it’s equally AMAZING because it’s all about the performance. Piers Morgan was among those defending the lip syncing for some reason and was please to see Beyonce wield the anthem as a “screw you” to critics.

Update: About as surprising as the fact that Beyonce’s inauguration performance was prerecorded was the suggestion that the press’s questions were pre-approved.

  • pairadimes

She could have used a teleprompter. Not like there isn’t any precedent for that, is there?

  • Krazy Kent

Works for me. Here’s to hoping we hear no more about it. She handled it, and in a very respectable manner.
I’m kinda glad Obama got the pre-recorded version. Hell, he didn’t even deserve THAT.
OH, and to the “low information” voters out there who made this such a big issue:

Shut up. There are plenty more things out there that deserve real attention.

    Ok, carry on…

  • George Washington Mclintock

This was a controversy? I thought lip-synching was standard procedure for anthem singers at big-time, televised events. Beyonce Knowles is kind of annoying, but is without question a crackerjack singer.

    • Kabong30

She’d be offended by your description. 😉

      • peteee363

just like i am offended by calling any female singer under the age of 50 a diva. they now call singers barely drinking age diva’s.

  • Rella

I’m glad to hear she has her priorities in order. For the SuperBowl she has mucho time to rehearse and do PR. For an historic event like a Presidential Inaug – she has no time to rehearse and could not even bother to show up on time to do a sound check. If Beyonce were white we’d still be hearing wailing and gnashng of teeth over how disrespectful this was to POTUS and could you believe it? She did this on MLK day.

    • proudhispanicconservative

      you meant the king coronation?

  • Kabong30

Nobody said she “can’t” sing live. I think we were all just appalled that she wouldn’t do it for the inauguration especially for her good friend, Obama. It just all speaks to the fakeness of people like her and the Commander-In-Chief. They don’t care about substance as long as it looks good to the cameras.

ETA: And I’m an idiot who didn’t read the last “tweet” of the story. LOL Apologies.

  • CatHerder

How very nice. Now, can we take leave of this whole farce? And take the fake girlfriend and biker doping non-stories with it? Sorry, but my country is imploding and I have to ration my indignation.

    • Rella

I think it’s because the country is imploding that some of us are willing to be distracted so as not cry. Also I think her attitude shows some reasons why our country is imploding – Everything is about her in her world and so she had no respect for the Office of POTUS, no respect for history, no recognition of what an honor had been bestoyed upon her – it was all about her and what this event was going to do for her. Just this overwhelming selfishiness and focus on self and a complete ignorance of history and what exactly she was to be a part. We should call this condition FLUKIAN – what’s in it for me, where’s my stuff.

who cares about Beyonce, she is a mediocre singer like most of them

    • peteee363

mediocre is being generous to her.

  • michael s

She should’ve said “What do you have to say now?”

    • peteee363

or, what difference does it make?

    • Guest

To which many would respond, “you are still a hypocritical douche of epic proportions”.

  • TocksNedlog

Can’t she just prove it with her LIVE singing performance this Sunday?
    Oh wait . . .

  • peteee363

she is not that good of a singer, so who cares?

  • TocksNedlog

Question: WHO are these “haters” who have been claiming that she can’t sing?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002109532283 Jillane Kent

The respondents seem to think that the ideological opposition is as passionate about the “bread and circus parades” as they are.

  • TocksNedlog

Question: How does she ‘shade’ anyone by caving-in to some imagined pressure to prove herself?

    • proudhispanicconservative

This is all Obrama….. excuse me drama from her.

    • ozconservative

Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some sort of pressure put on her to lip-sync by the organizers. They wouldn’t want a mistake to spoil the deification…..err I mean inauguration…..of their lord, would they??

Not a Beyonce fan, just wouldn’t put it past them…

      • TocksNedlog

        I don’t disagree.

  • $27789750

She’s just loud. The world is convinced she has a voice. When you listen to earlier singers singing same songs…well she’s just loud…period.

    • Raye09

She sounds like she is screaming instead of holding a note.

  • NCRelite

you go girl! mhmmm i give that 2 snaps up in Z formation

  • vino veritas

This is something liberals feel the need to create a controversy over so they can feel real proud about the end result since its the only legitimately redeeming thing their corrupt & twisted ideology has ever produced. Even more so since obama was put in charge.

  • Peyton

How do we know she didn’t lip sync this one too?

  • SkywalkerNoScream

The only thing she killed was my eardrums. Horrid technique.

    • proudhispanicconservative

It was horrible, I think she thinks she killed it.

  • Guest

    The woman gets paid millions of dollars to SING…to presumably make a sound;
yet, when she ACTUALLY performs, her fans urinate upon themselves….

  • proudhispanicconservative

Nobody has sang the national anthem with more grace, effortless and class then Carrie Underwood, as supposed to Beyonce who forced it.

  • DontDrinkTheCoolAid

It amazes me how LIBs can keep, something as stupid as, this on the front burner of issues.

  • littleones

Why do we give so much creedence to musicians and actors?

  • Teresa Davis McCormick

I’m sorry but I remember when singers sang not lip synched. Who gives two sh*ts about Beyonce singing live? So she did her job… big deal. She needs a reality check.

  • David Shrock

Herky Jerky is at it again. Have you watched those supposedly incredible dance moves on the commercials? As for singing talent my deaf Jack Russell sounds sweeter. Halftime Superbowl performance is negated by a DVR fast forward button.

  • aircraftmech

Just switched the channel, so I wouldn’t have to see/hear the oft overrated Bounce’ on the SB halftime spectacle
