Democratic Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks, who was arrested last weekend for allegedly threatening to shoot Speaker-elect Marilyn Kirkpatrick, has been taken by police for a psychological examination under Legal 2000, which allows forced hospitalization for up to 72 hours where mental illness is suspected.

This started when Legislative Police called Metro because Brooks was "exhibiting bizarre behavior" at a relative's house, source tells me.

The Las Vegas Sun’s Anjeanette Damon confirms that a sword was involved in the family disturbance which led to Brooks’ hospitalization.
Metro source CONFIRMS, as @RalstonReports has tweeted, that Brooks has been detained by police for a psychiatric evaluation.
