Mother Jones kicked off the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision with a poorly considered “happy birthday” wish, so why not a “happy anniversary” as well, complete with a rose and some slow jams in the background? “True Blood’s” Mehcad Brooks stars in a “sexy” spot put together by the Center for Reproductive Rights, but the humor of the ad is lost on quite a few who don’t consider 40 years of abortion a laughing matter.

Hey, baby? Really? Sorry, Mehcad, baby can’t hear you.

Who toasts to dead babies? That’s not a question we thought would ever be asked, but now it even has an answer: Mehcad Brooks. Just how offensive is that spot? Let Twitter count the ways.

Only a liberal can celebrate 40 years of babies being put to death by abortion.

  • EOD

Liberals have yet to meet the innocent child they did not instinctively seek to ice pick in the back of the head.

Ice Picks have killed millions more innocent children than all the Assault Weapons combined, yet there is no call from the Left to ban the use if Ice Picks… and modern convenience render the Ice Pick obsolete as far as its original intended purpose, funny how that works. Sad funny, not ha-ha funny.

  • Belinda Henry

    Now that was weird.

  • sarainitaly

Besides the sick factor of saying baby repeatdly, they dare to say that it has to do with love? Love is raising a child, not aborting, or abandoning it, as 70% of black fathers do. So many things wrong with this ad… just beyond sick.

  • Joe W.

Just lost my supper. I knew I should not have watched that.

  • vicki jakel

So they finally admit that the living being inside of the womb is, in fact, a baby. And it only took 40 years.

  • SAL

Roe v Wade’s additional accomplishment — the decimation of the family (no baby, no marry, party on). The beginning of the civil society’s decline…

  • marcellucci

40 years ago, the SCOTUS decreed that women were responsible for their bodies…..
Ever since, women have been proving them wrong…..

  • Joseph Phillips

Disgusting, classless, and creepy. The “mmm-mmm-mmms” are disgusting too. I keep forgetting that Libs are so cool and hipster, so this is funny to them.

    • beebop1952

I was taken by the complete lack of awareness that abortion is rendering a creation dead. The sexualization of reproduction is the unique responsibility of the pro death crowd.

  • Randi Starr

Shame his momma didn’t consider this option because he still turned out as a waste of human protoplasm.

  • jacksonjay

Remember all that “rare, safe, and legal” talk a few years back? Yeah, not so much now, huh?

This despicable ad also call attention, in my mind, to the statutory rape aspect of abortion! How old is “baby” when this POS makes her pregnant?

    • therantinggeek

Seems a lot of Leftists have widely abandoned/disregarded their beloved President Clinton’s stance on the issue. Didn’t he emphasize the word “RARE”?

      • jacksonjay

Yeah, he’s should be the Secretary of Explainin! I think that’s what they called him after his convention speech!

      • TexSizzle

He also said “safe”. Considering that every successful abortion results in the death of at least one baby, he failed to make sense with his statement.

  • Marty Luther

I’ve noticed that everybody that is for abortion has already been born. RONALD REAGAN, New York Times, Sept. 22, 1980

  • SpinMeNot

Margaret Sanger is smiling from her little corner of Hell … A black man celebrating the SCOTUS overstepping its bounds and legislating from the bench creating a “right” that enables the fulfillment of her vision for the eradication of blacks in the United States.

I’d laugh if it wasn’t so sad … think of the potential wasted; one of the dead could have been the person to cure cancer or AIDS or ALS and a large portion of “We the People” celebrate.

May God have mercy on us.

It reminds me of a Thomas Jefferson quote: “God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever . . .”

      • SpinMeNot

I was talking with an acquaintance some weeks ago about “The Israelites had to have a king, and look how that worked out for them.” The purging of God from our lives has created a generation that isn’t familiar with the lessons of the Judges and 1st and 2nd Kings.

        I love the quote *hat-tip*

Someone, somewhere told these liberals that sex sells, and now they are trying to package every twisted demented idea in weird sexual innuendo. I THOUGHT they couldn’t sink any lower than that Lena Dunham ad comparing voting for Obama to losing her virginity. Clearly, I was VERY wrong.

  • Tessa I.

Considering that the character in the ad appears to be more concerned with sex than life, doesn’t seem to understand how to talk to another human being and considers a creepy laugh an appropriate sentiment in a case like this . . . well, to be honest, I *can* see this guy being happy about 40 years of Roe. I *can’t* see any sane woman going within two hundred yards of him, though–not without a little 2nd Amendment backup. Urgh.

    • SpinMeNot

Tessa, you are brilliant. The liberal-progressive reasons like an adolescent, all based on emotion, unable to control their most base instincts and drives. I’ve heard the former, but never considered the latter until reading your post.

Fundamentally, they are no more evolved than your average caveman; wondering where their next meal will come from and when they will get the chance to reproduce.

  • Jason

They spent 40 years tell us that it isn’t a baby, so why is he calling Roe v Wade “baby” so many times? And the end really is creepy.

  • Kleverabevera

Watching this add I had some of the same feelings I had when I first watched the Exorcist. Creepy.

My sincere apologies to Mr Brooks, but I’m going to make the following points:

    · Shortly after Roe v Wade was decided, a woman gave birth to her daughter in spite of her birth defect. That baby girl would, nearly thirty years later, become a woman herself.
    · Four years after the Roe v Wade decision, my mother chose to keep me. Twenty-five years later, I met that lady whom was born with a birth defect and still decided to marry her.
    · Two years ago, my wife and I made the conscious decision to keep our son in spite of the risks the pregnancy posed to her. Sure, he was born prematurely, but otherwise today he’s a happy and healthy little boy.

  • Heather

Vile, thoughtless ad. Mechad needs to do some reading up on this topic.

  • el_polacko

to be fair, he’s not toasting dead babies, he’s toasting the women who won the right to…..oh, the heck with it….yeah…the ad is super-creepy. i only hope that the actor thought he was making some kind of ‘funny or die’-type parody video. hmmm…funny or die…okay…i give up…nevermind.

  • Kim Andrews

A word of advice….do not EVER google the phrase “late term abortion” and then click on images. Im already pro life so i knew it would be hideous, I had no idea HOW disturbing. How can abortion supporters see those photos and still fight so hard to keep abortion legal. How can Obama see those images and still vote against restrictions on late term abortion?? So many liberals want to show 20 minute commercials of sickly animals with Sarah Mclachlan songs in the background. Why cant pro lifers show a 1 minute commercial with images of aborted babies? No music needed, just photos. Any person with a conscience would become pro life in an instant.
