The heads of the NRA aren’t the only ones not backing away from the Obama administration’s grab at the guns of law-abiding citizens. Texas Gov. Rick Perry issued a statement today following the president’s heavy-with-children news conference, saying that the exploitation of the Sandy Hook massacre to advance an agenda disgusted him.

In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.

Not everyone was impressed by the governor’s take on gun violence and its causes.

Through the magic of the Internet, Perry’s admonition that Americans pray for the children soon became … something else.

There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.

Let’s run that through the liberal translator and see what comes out, shall we? All of those people who prayed for the children of Sandy Hook and their families must be feeling pretty stupid right now, huh?

Yeah, remember that Bible-thumping wingnut who went to the interfaith prayer vigil in Newtown and said he’d come to “offer the prayers of a nation“? What was that guy’s name again?

  • EOD

God was taken out of the Public School, and look at the shape of the Nation today because of it.
Today Obama’s portrait is in many Public Schools, he is revered as a living god by most Liberals…. what will the Nation look like in 20 years? Will there be a United States of America in 20 years?

    • grais

I don’t believe the problem is that God was taken out of public schools. The problem may be that God has been kicked out of families; from life itself. Look at those tweets mocking prayer…those folks were likely raised at home to respond that way. Unless there’s a tragedy and they want to be an artificial part of something, prayer is mocked and it’s usefulness is distorted and outright lied about. Especially by liberals, especially when it’s suggested by a conservative.
      So sad.

      • $21367552

If your god causes or allows children to be killed because there was not sufficient prayer in the same country where those kids lived, he has some issues. Also you want to take about “distorting the usefulness” of prayer, well that would be exactly what Gov. Perry is doing. Are you too clueless to figure that out?

        • grais

My God does not “cause or allow” any such thing.
btw, you forgot to explain precisely How Perry is “distorting the usefulness” of prayer.

        • TundraThunder

God doesn’t allow anyone to be killed. He gave us free will, and some use it to do dastardly things while many of us try our best to live by His word.

I don’t slam you due to your non-belief, so you have no reason to deride my belief in God!

          • grais

Some folks have a child-like view of God; it’s easier, I guess.

        • Catchance

Perhaps you should have read Gov. Perry’s statement a little more closely. He was not in any way suggesting, as some of you are intimating, that prayer should be put in place of laws. What he is saying is that we as a Nation have pushed God away and replaced Him with secular humanism. God doesn’t cause or allow these children to be killed, but His hand of protection that was on the United States from the beginning is being taken away as we take Him away from our lives.

What is distorting is REFUSING to acknowledge that gun control laws don’t work. When it’s brought out (over and over) that the cities with the strictest gun control laws are also the most violent and have the highest death rate (CHICAGO!) suddenly all we hear are crickets.

You might try getting a clue. (But I doubt you will.)

        • WVS

Translation: I don’t understand the mind of God, therefore there is no God.
Correction: You don’t understand the mind of God, therefore you are not God.

        • ssenecal5000

Try to pay attention . Christians do not believe God causes pain and suffering, they believe without him pain and suffering exists., caused by that state of lovelessness in the hearts of men. Lanza , for instance did not have Love in his heart when he killed his mother and all those people

To Christians, GOD Is LOVE That’s the whole point of Christ.
          — the epitome of love. Now when you take the kind of pure love of Christ into your own heart , believe in it, make it yours , and let it change you, THEN you are perfected. ….by LOVE

Praying for LOVE is a willful act wishful loving change. THAT is the power of GOD.
It’s all encompassing, but not a parlor magic trick.

A prayer of love will in fact protect more people than any government action . It will change the potential murderers heart before they act out
It will lighten the heavy load of victims families who are strengthened by the knowledge that others love them and their lost loved ones.
Now, could love have changed the hearts of the seriously mentally ill like Lanza , Holmes and Lougher?
Most likely not, but it could have changed the hearts of the sane men and women around them, Love should have driven us all to protect the lives of the innocent and the shooters when they were innocent by institutionalizing the mental ill instead of medicating them, declaring their needs unnecessary and unleashing them upon a society of innocent people..
Now is Obama full of love when he’s using children as political props?
          Of course not
Is Obama’s addressing the needs of the seriously mentally ill with his “see something , report something” with every single eye, nose and ear doctor program? NO
The shooters were all known to be seriously mentally ill prior to their acting out. Not merely depressed, not PSTD or ADD , they were not able to grasp reality .
They already were under the radar of mental health professionals.. Known of them had weapons when the mental health professional decided they weren’t a threat to themselves or others.
They should have been institutionalized and we should have loved innocents enough to do it.

Silly libs spewing hate against freedom. #SHOCKING!

  • annoyinglittletwerp

We moved to Texas from the Chicago area almost 2 years ago. When we arrived, I joked to my husband that I could smell and feel freedom in the west Texas wind. Rick Perry was a big reason why we left Illinois. Give ’em hell, Rick! Molon Labe!

    • lainer51

and another BIG PLUS, you left Dead Fish Emanuel behind!

  • BorderLine Guy

Interesting, the irony of WkdWych’s tweet prior to this one escapes her.

  • Kathy Wilder

It always amazes me that these peace-loving, gun-hating liberals can come up with such vituperation without making a point.

    • grais

I wonder if they’re flat-out lying, or they cannot comprehend the written word. Perry did not even remotely suggest that prayer alone will solve the problem of gun violence.
Why are these people so angry and afraid?

    • Vennoye

Was reminded the other day that all the shooters involved in JFK, RFK, and MLK, Jr. assinations, as well as the Weather Underground are ALL Democrats. None are GOP….strange isn’t it!! Such concern for human life…(1) if they decide not to abort them and/or (2) if they agree with them!!

      • Patsplacepp

wow and here I thought they were Americans killing other Americans…with Guns. Go figure

  • daisy amos

Obama claims he wants to protect children from guns but does he protect the unborn from abortion?

I don’t’ need prayer to stop gun violence. I just need my Glock 23 Gen 4. Praying is for the other guy.

  • Jeanette Victoria

WkdWych another member of that religion for pathetic luzers a Wiccan.

    • arrow2010

      Wiccans are scum.

      • Jeanette Victoria

No they are not…they are just really really silly.

      • Bob Khan

Not so, most that I have run into are fairly nice folks, WkdWych just happens to fit her chosen handle to a T.

We’ve got our own jerks over on the Christian side too, namely Fred Phelps and the WBC. They think it is ok to disrespect our fallen Warriors. Being a former Soldier myself and knowing someone who committed suicide due to PTSD acquired from his service in Iraq, I am completely against the protests and propaganda of the WBC. To support my beliefs, I cannot rightfully pass judgement on another person’s faith, doing so would lower me to Mr. Phelps level and further set a bad example for all Protestants.

However, when it comes to politics… Liberals are free game. Those fools really make my blood boil.

        • Bob Khan

Looks like I was not far off on my speculation about WkdWych. Had a look at her twitter profile, looks like she practices “black magic” so she probably falls outside of mainstream Wicca, their practitioners believe in using “white magic”.

          • Jeanette Victoria

As a former Neo-Pagan she is pretty close to mainstream Wicca. They really do like the dark and most are rabid and idiotic liberals you know, vegans who are fine with abortions. There however a few conservative pagan and Wiccans.

        • TexSizzle

Fred Phelps is a Christian? Then why doesn’t he act like one? Just calling yourself a Christian doesn’t make you one. If he truly were Christian, it would show in his actions.

  • Jack Deth

Don’t you just love the way the left spazzes out when someone righteously flips off Obama?

The NRA and their “Elitist” ad this morning.

Worst Mass Murders in US History:

Worst School Massacre in US history: Bath, Michigan School Massacre. 1927. Murder accomplished with explosives. 44 victims (equal to the Columbine and Virginia Tech massacres combined).

Worst Domestic Terrorist Attack in US History: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing. 4/19/95. Murder accomplished with a rental truck full of fertilizer based explosives. 168 dead (including many children in an onsite day care).

Worst Foreign based Terrorist Attack in US History: September 11, 2001 attacks on NYC, PA, Pentagon. Murder accomplished with box cutters and commercial airliners. 3,000 people dead.

By no coincidence all of the worst mass murders in US history have been committed without guns! NO GUNS NEEDED! WAKE THE HELL UP AMERICA

Steve, has there ever been a mass murder where poison was the weapon of choice? Such a thing is certainly possible. Some no-good-nick with a vial of some vile substance could tippytoe – late at night – to the reservoir containing some city’s drinking water supply, and you can imagine the rest.

      • NachoCheese (D)

        Ask and ye shall receive…
“The 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack was the food poisoning of 751 individuals in The Dalles, Oregon, United States, through the deliberate contamination of salad bars at ten local restaurants with salmonella.”

It’s not just in the U.S. either:
“The Sarin attack on the Tokyo subway, usually referred to in the Japanese media as the Subway Sarin Incident, was an act of domestic terrorism perpetrated by members of Aum Shinrikyo on March 20, 1995.”

        • $23629333

Nacho, the Oregon story brings to mind the episode of “Seinfeld” wherein George ran afoul of some cook, and said cook added a little something to George’s meal. That episode and incident of my own – wherein I made a late-night visit to a fast food restaurant, and was not at all impressed with the looks of the guy who was preparing my meal,* or the look of disdain he flashed at me – has convinced me to avoid visits to such places.

Beyond the threat posed by a burger-flipper with a chip on his/her shoulder, there’s the fact that someone working at a fast food place is someone who CANNOT afford to stay home if he/she is not feeling well. So, he/she may pass whatever he/she is carrying on to you.

          Bon appetit, everyone!

  • Frustrated Teacher

Thank you Gov Perry for not ‘pulling your punches’ with these vile cretins. Nothing is below them and it is time for some conservatives to call them what they are…political correctness be damned!!

    Well played Sir!

Gov. Perry is up for re-election in 2014, you can bet the family farm that I’ll be voting for him to remain our State Governor! God Bless Texas!

As an agnostic conservative, I respect freedom of religion, belief in prayer and its positive effects. I may not agree but I won’t attack my fellow man over it either. If you believe prayer will help this situation, please pray. We need all the help we can get. Our Constitution seems to be resembling toilet paper more and more every single day.

What I don’t understand is the angry attitudes from people who don’t believe. Let people have their own beliefs. Don’t push yours onto them.

  • D.C.Smith

The Republic of Texas has a enriched history…she was a nation before a state and has made millions of sacrifices along the way. Gov Perry, Atty Gen Abbott, and State Legislators, along with millions of proud citizens who stand for freedom and liberty for all, are paying close attention!
Historically, Texas has made tremendous sacrifice defending constitutional rights, and doesn’t know much about constitutional apathy. Texans let a lot of things go, but not this. This is serious. The Second Amendment should not be taken lightly by any American. Texans don’t. As nations go, our Nation is in its infancy…1776 should not be hard to recollect. (Piers Morgan is not American…he such a fool…horrible entertainment). Texas knows the greatest document ever written is the Constitution of the United States of America. She will protect it, for all Americans!

What about the Mass Murder of Men, Women and Children in Waco TX by Janet Reno and her henchmen; that one’s on BILL CLINTON. Guns, bombs, artillery shells, tanks, tear gas – YOUR SECRETARY OF STATE’S HUSBAND DID THAT.
