Parody site The Daily Currant managed to fool a few readers in August with its scoop regarding Todd Akin’s “homosexuality cure.” People who wanted it to be true didn’t bother checking the source before retweeting the news, and this Christmas, they were anxious to share news that Fox News host Bill O’Reilly had taken his “War on Christmas” to a new level by punching a department store Santa.

No, he didn’t. The original story ran under the headline, “Bill O’Reilly Arrested For Assaulting Department Store Santa,” and claimed that a Santa’s wish of “happy holidays” rather than “merry Christmas” drove the TV host to violence. Other blogs copied the piece outright, albeit with more colorful headlines, such as this one:

If you believe O’Reilly’s a terrorist, believing he’d punch Santa isn’t much of a stretch.

Hurts my ribs when I laugh at it!

what i found funny is trolling the idiots who comment on the original story. just click the above link where it says original story an have fun with it.

  • Katt

If it’s on the Internet, it must be true. *Rolls eyes*

    • Guest

I know! I about died laughing after reading a completely false report and a girl commenting said she was so grateful for the truth of the Internet. :/

All these people do know that in Presidential elections Repbulicans vote on the first Tuesday and Democrats vote on first Wednesday of November, don’t they?

    • SineWaveII

LOL if only we could get them to believe that.

  • Charles Lawrence

It would be much more fun and interesting if it were true!

  • JeffWRidge

At least Sam Linville was asking if the story was true. The rest bought it hook, line and sinker, with no questions. That’s the problem with being fanatical in your politics; you’re willing to believe the worse about your political rivals.

You would think that in this day and age, people would know enough to at least double-check a story before spreading it. How many times has this happened now?

    • SineWaveII

People who do that would be “journalists” which these people are not.

      • Donald Borsch Jr.

“Journalists”? Oh, that’s right. Aren’t those extinct within the MSM? I thought they killed them all off.

  • tredglx

Wow, are people on the left gullible.
First 0bama, now this. Where does the merriment end for the rest of us?

  • PennyRobinsonFanClub

The Daily Currant’s Berry-In-Chief had his little pink panties all twisted in a knot about something a few months ago and was here on Twitchy IN PERSON telling us what idiots we were for p/ing of some liberals who repeated one of his things that they believed . . . or something really stupid like that .

  • stuckinIL4now

The libturds are just soooooooo insanely desperate for it to be true …

  • JustLikeAnimals

Hey, the Libertards believed Obama was qualifed to be President, so the ground was laid long ago for them to believe pretty much anything.

    • Donald Borsch Jr.

      Comment #win!

Weren’t they also the ones that wrote the “Romney wants to ban tampons” piece? Which libs also believed. Kind of pathetic how gullible people are.

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

My favourite was the smug “godless_savage” trying to sound clever, like most atheists.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Half of these people get their news from Comedy Central. If that’s not a red flag, I don’t know what is.
