Though they’re reminiscent of scenes from the run-up to Superstorm Sandy, these empty shelves are the result of an entirely different sort of disaster — the announcement that Hostess will liquidate after a standoff with the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union.

Um, people do know that all Hostess products, and not just Twinkies, are in danger of extinction, right? Or are Zingers just that bad that there are plenty left?

Are these just isolated incidents, or is there really a nationwide Ho-Ho shortage?

At least one investor has stepped forward to express an interest in buying Hostess. Until then, some are seeing Twinkies themselves as an investment. Shall we start the bidding at, say, $25?

Do I hear $5,000? No?

I hope Little Debbie buys the Twinkie recipe!

I have my money on the Keebler Elves. It’s also possible it’ll never happen. There may be no interest in buying the assets. Other companies may have been waiting to bring out their own version without having to fight Hostess.

Not much of a fight if they buy the recipe. Could be a future fight if someone else gets it. Should provide incentive for competitors…

LIttle Debbies are so over-processed now. I used to have them in my lunch, for school, and they were good… now, I can’t even think of eating a Snak Cake™ without gagging at the cloying sweetness of it.

Reminds me of the classic episode of Seinfeld with Elaine and her hordes of discontinued “sponges”. Are you sponge worthy?? Lol.

    • TheOriginalDonald

What does birth control have to do with Twinkies??????

      • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

        Twinkies are considered ‘sponge cake’.

      • scubaski00

I was just drawing a comedic parallel…if you don’t get it, move along.

Where are the liberals demanding a million Twinkie march?? Lol

    • TocksNedlog

Didn’t they just do a 60 million Twinkie March on November 6th?

      • scubaski00

        LOL…yes they did….FRAUDULENTLY of course!!

I can only hope that when Hostess does liquidate it’s holdings and recipes. They sell them to a investors in a right to work state!

  • Steve_J

How much will they be going for on E-Bay next week?

  • my preciousss!!

what to do? my kids love Little Bites which are packaged conveniently for school snack. ) :

The brand will be licensed out to a new baker. The new Twinkies will be fat free,..or should I say – free of fat, selfish 0bama voting union goons, but packed with the fresh taste of freedom.

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Mitt Romney should TOTALLY buy Hostess. Staples and the SLC Olympics success stories were under the radar. Hostess has been highly publicized. What a kick in the Obama Admin’s nuts (can’t say ‘balls’, they have none, but there’s plenty of nuts) that would be. Not to mention, the kicking out of the unions.

  • TocksNedlog

High-five, Bakers Union members! Just think of all the joy you have brought to the nation, your families and yourselves as this holiday season begins.

I also find it incredibly IRONIC that those who despise successful business owners are the first ones to attempt to seize the opportunity to clean out store inventory and attempt to sell said inventory for maximum profit!!! See, even those who never aspire to much are quick to figure out how to make a buck!!
