CBS, which is set to air the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in December, is reporting that a Native American-themed outfit featured at the show will be pulled from the broadcast, and Victoria’s Secret has issued an apology for any offense caused.

Model Karlie Kloss, who wore a feathered headdress and turquoise jewelry as part of a holiday-themed “Calendar Girls” segment of the show, issued her own apology via Twitter.

A post on the blog Native Appropriations called for Victoria’s Secret to pull the segment from the show: “This isn’t ‘fun,’ this isn’t a ‘fantasy’ character. This is about our cultures, our bodies, and our lives. Native people demand and deserve far more respect than this.”

Some applauded Victoria’s Secret for the move.

Others wonder if they’re missing something.

Some people really are missing something.

I’m more offended by the lack of curves on their models.

  • http://IKnowBO.com/ Slam1263

So they are leaving the costume off.
Is the model still going on?

    • kate_middleton

The fashion show was last week – they do it then and then broadcast it on TV usually in early December. So I guess they’ll just edit that portion out.

    Lol

Its ok, to dress the women up as angels — the avatars/messengers of God, but not as Pocahontas?

… oh wait sorry, angels .. Bible … Christian/Jewish beliefs … nvm, sorry. Gotta have that sense of logic looked at, its really getting annoying.

  • michael s

First the Geisha lingerie now this . What if Victoria’s Secret said thanks to Letterman we have a new line of clothing and lingerie? The Sarah Palin slutty flight attendant line. How about not offending anyone.

The people who think the outfit is raaacist would probably find Hetalia raaacist as well. Look it up.

So we can’t do historical dress-up any more? No monk, priest, or nun costumes any more(not counting the “sexy” ones, which shouldn’t even exist).

    • Stephanie Warren

Hetalia IS racist. If it wasn’t Korea wouldn’t have banned it.

This will have a chilling effect on The Village People’s Reunion Tour.

      So funny!

  • Lisa

OMG, what about the WOMEN being half naked? Wouldn’t THAT be considered “war on women”? Oh I forgot if your a Dem. it only involves your lady parts and those were covered! ROTFLMAO!

  • disqus_LASIg6epmj

So if you have lingerie based on any sect of people, it’s offensive? Would a St Patrick’s outfit be deemed offensive? Or a Scottish kilt?

    • $22091572

Im native amerian and I found it very nice to look at.. Nothing wrong.. ok.. would have rather seen her with no top and a breech cloth.. but what they heck right?

Just in: Frederick’s of Hollywood will discontinue their popular line of French Maid attire in deference to Gallic sensibilities.

    • michael s

why are you mocking frederick’s of hollywood ?, if posing in bras and panties were good enough for leann tweeden and kimberly giufoyle frederick’s shouldn’t be mocked. after all anything a conservative woman does is correct, upstanding and morally justifiable.

      • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

Where did you get “mocking” in that post?

When you’re looking for it you can find damn near anywhere, whether it exists or not.

shame some people are offended so easily even when its not intended lord knows im offended by tons of things but i dont demand they stop

  • EastValleyConservative

More stupidity from the PC crowd who keeps feigning outrage while adding duct tape to their mouth one layer at a time. Enough people–geez. Do you really not see what you are normalizing?

  • JimmyNeutron

I wasn’t offended and I’m 0/32nd Cherokee. Just like my tribe-mate Elizabeth Warren. Oh…Senator Elizabeth Warren, sorry. Oh well – off to eat dinner now – I’m having cold omelets with crab meat – Oklahoma Crab is in season in November – that’s when us Cherokees eat it. While I’m eating I’ll be thinking of all the ways that Elizabeth Warren can help the cause of Native Americans. Does anyone know what her Senate email addy will be, or a way that LOTS of people can deluge her immediately with suggestions or questions about how she is going to help the plight of Native Americans? Wouldn’t it be awesome to deluge her with these questions and comments (hint hint). I mean, she used her status as a Native American for professional advancement, and Harvard ($31b endowment) used her hiring as way to comply with affirmative action – wouldn’t it be interesting to hear what the Senator-elect and Harvard have to say about ideas and help for Native Americans?

I think we should withhold judgment until Liz Warren has had a chance to weigh in on the issue.

  • Hiraghm

What about those who don’t understand America’s unique culture and misuse Christian sacred items, like crucifixes dipped in urine?

  • Peyton

I’m offended by all the outfits! Remove them immediately!

  • JustinCase

What’s so wrong about that outfit? Cher wears it all the time!

  • JohnChristianJr

But how does Elizabeth Warren feel?

    • gman213

      She feels 7/8th indian

  • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

Could someone help me out with this? Which tribe wore fake feather headdresses and buck skin bikinis? Who exactly is offended by this?

    • Back 4 More

I’m not sure, but if they looked like Victoria’s Secret lingerie models I’m guessing they were pretty popular.

    • JimmyNeutron

It was the sub-Tribe of Cherokee that Elizabeth Warren is a descendent of. You know – the same Cherokee that eat Cold Omelets and Crab…because fresh crab was so plentiful in OK…

  • gman213

Victoria Secret would be better off not using the head dress, that way Indians or (native Americans for you P.C. types) can stay the way they are …irrelevant

  • gman213

Santa is pissed too, don’t wear his hat!

  • 1MHD

As an American Indian (no, I will not change that to the PC BS of Native American because I am an AMERICAN FIRST) I am offended that they pulled this line of clothing…all you that are offended about her wearing this design can bite my American Indian a$$. You liberal whiners and your PC crap do nothing but cause a rift between PEOPLE, screw what race you are, grow a thicker skin, stop wetting yourself over trivial crap, put on your big boy/girl pants and grow the he!! UP. I am sick of being pleasant to the liberal pos’. GET A LIFE dammit!

    • TexSizzle

And I consider myself a native American because I was born here, not because some of my ancestors claim that some of their ancestors were American Indians. If we had proof, I would claim American Indian heritage.

In the faux outrage column: Never mind the headdress, I must protest on behalf of leopards everywhere that the actual lingerie containing leopard prints are inappropriately used. Leopards use spots to camouflage, never on their underbellies like the model.

But then, as a male, I didn’t actually notice the leopard spots . . . or the headdress . . . being too distracted by the model.

  • nytflyr

the European part of me says “She’s HOT”… the Cherokee side of me agrees

  • $22091572

I dont see anything wrong with it.. Im native american. she looks great

  • Dane Gunderson

Because Indians are offensive? War on native Americans? What if Elizabeth Warren wore the outfit? Oh thats right… she did…

  • Dane Gunderson

    So
native American outfits are offensive, because all imagery of Native
Americans must be ‘ethnically cleansed’ per the ruling class. Yet
Elizabeth Warren(D-fauxcahontas) winning election to the Senate should
be celebrated because she is a woman… who lied about being a Native
American to benefit from Affirmative Action preferences to advance her
    career… and that isn’t offensive?

  • Hello Jerry (D)

Did Fauxcohantas Warren raise a stink?
