Breitbart editor-at-large Ben Shapiro made a fantastic appearance on Piers Morgan’s CNN show tonight. For anyone who’s ever seen Shapiro speak, suffice it to say that he did not present as easy a target for Morgan’s condescension as Alex Jones.

https://twitter.com/baileymwood_/status/289558529491234816

Shapiro repeatedly tried to get Morgan to answer whether he would support a broad, British-style blanket gun ban as a solution to Chicago-style gun crime, noting that most such crimes are committed with non-assault weapons. Morgan wouldn’t answer, and Shapiro shot back with the fact that handguns cause much more death than assault rifles, and that it was illogical to ban only the less widely used guns. He also suggested stricter background checks as a solution.

Shapiro said he feared what could happen “in the next 50 or 100 years.” Morgan, the subject of a petition to have him deported, considered it absurd to think that the U.S. government could ever — even in the distant future — turn tyrannical.

Shapiro refused to be lumped with Alex Jones, and responded with a list of democracies that went bad in the 20th Century. Shapiro calmly noted that while both he and his children may die before such an event, the point of the Second Amendment is to prevent it from ever happening.

Yes, Musket, overcriminalization is a problem — and we should review that law regarding your Sudafed. So, your point is?

Actually, Morgan was just reading a letter in which Ronald Reagan supported an assault weapons ban. Shapiro’s response: “So?” Great stuff.

By the end of it, media bully-in-chief Morgan was accusing Shapiro of bullying him! Astonishing, especially considering the type of horrible (and borderline anti-Semitic) things said about Shapiro by Morgan’s supporters.

https://twitter.com/Pecinov/status/289561526371745792

Morgan, obviously bothered by his drubbing, continued to trash Shapiro behind his back but in front of his much more sympathetic follow-up guests, to whom he declared his great admiration and respect for the U.S. Constitution — the same document he just minutes before had deemed to be Shapiro’s “little book.”

YOu know Piers got a Red, White, & Blue ass-whooping because the Libs are silent on Twitter, and so is the media.

  • June Clinkenbeard

There aren’t sufficiently strong enough words for how much disdain I have for Piers Morgan. I resent that he is even a topic of discussion as I know this is what he intended all along to increase his laughable ratings. I prefer to ignore him as the irrelevant, uninformed poser that he is. I completely understand the satisfaction one gleans from watching him get comeuppance but it will never replace the satisfaction of knowing he, and his little show, withered on the vine until they dried up and blew away, never to be heard from again. I look forward to that day with great anticipation. In the meanwhile, enjoy yourselves but remember to keep your eye on the prize.

    • J.N. Ashby

I have a word for what he is. It starts with a C and women hate it, and the British and Australians use it like it’s the word “and.” That one strong enough?

      • June Clinkenbeard

While that word certainly didn’t leap to mind, I do think using it on Piers Morgan is an insult to c—s.

        • texaswc

wow….lol…though I can’t think of a word to call him that ISN’T an insult to whomever the words are originally intended…hahaha

Hasn’t EVERY government turned tyrannical eventually? I mean, the Magna Carta came from it. Ours is now in comparison to it’s original form. France went through what? Five republics before this one?

    • Kevin Krom

And the Magna Carta was only signed because there was sufficient force assembled to pose a real threat to the king. Tyranny responds to fear, not “principles”.

  • Howzah123

Morgan calling the Constitution “Your little book” speaks volumes

  • HARP2

Morgan…your little show is going downhill and will soon be cancelled. People can learn more facts watching Sesame Street you Brit twit.

  • Dan Thorpe

That was an awesome video segment. If Piers does not believe that the US government could not go tyrannical just consider the fact that in less then 1 year, they will require you to have health insurance. You have the VP saying that they could enact an executive order to circumvent the constitution and ban guns. For some progressives the constitution has no meaning to them.

    • Hiraghm

just consider that in 1993 a military force which has no Congressional oversight besieged innocent citizens, with the result of the death of several dozen of them most of whom were children, and the destruction of their home. I don’t see our gov’t getting much more tyrannical than that.

Metaphor of the month: “Standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook” to describe how poser Piers has been using this tragic horror to silence critics and promote his leftist views.

  • Saddlebum

I tried to watch and I listened for a while. When Morgan started repeating, “is she a good person, is she a good person?”, over and over, (speaking of the New Town shooters mother), dismissing and talking over Shapiro, I lost it and turned the channel before I kicked the TV. He is such a punk. His disdain for our Constitution makes me really angry!

    • ProgTrog

You should have finished watching it. He tried to lariat Shapiro with that line, Shapiro extricated himself with the grace of an Olympic swimmer and turned around and busted Morgan’s chops over and over again.

Piers definitely came off like he’d just been pimp-slapped when Shapiro said that handguns were responsible for more deaths than assault rifles and asked Morgan why he didn’t wan to ban the guns that are actually involved in most of the gun deaths. Piers looked like Satan who had just been made to say “Jesus is Lord” when he was forced to grit his teeth and say that the reason he didn’t want to ban handguns was because “I….respect….(the second amendment)”. That was the best part of the whole segment,I think.

All told, Shapiro scored most of the points here no matter WHO you ask. Even a leftist would have to admit Morgan lost this debate because Morgan had to cut Shapiro off. After Morgan had exhausted all of his talking points,Shapiro was still warming up. He would have went on stomping Morgan into the ground if he’d been allowed to continue speaking.

Shapiro’s example is the template other conservatives should follow when confronting the left.

I know I sound like Shapiro’s agent here, but I wasn’t even that familiar with Shapiro before this. Now I think I’m going to pay more attention to this man when he speaks,he showed everyone how it’s done in this debate.

  • K-Dubya

My favorite part was when he kept saying, “How dare you?” Like Ben was lying or something. lol

I noticed that too… I think I used that on my brother when we were bickering, back in the day… I was 8 he was 10!!!!

I believe “How dare you?” is code for “You got me, so now I’ll get louder to drown out the truth you’re speaking”.

  • Catchance

Piers Morgan is a supercilious twit with a failed career, trying to make himself relevant by jumping on the gun-control bandwagon (“standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook”). As enjoyable as it was to watch him being thumped by Ben Shapiro, I’m afraid any attention is just going to encourage him to more asshattery.

I’m sick of this line of horse dung about “Why do you need an ‘assault weapon'”?

I would have said,”Let me ask you this,Piers, do you have a car?”

    Morgan:”Why yes,I have several.”

Me:” I notice you have legs. Why do you need a car,or MULTIPLE cars,Piers?”

Here’s why I need an AR-15,because I want one. I don’t have to explain why I should be able to own an AR-15, an SKS, or a freakin cannon if I want one. The Founders gave me that right. My family has died for it. Many of our family members have.

I’ll own any firearm I want to. I don’t have to justify my god-given right to protect myself any more than Morgan needs to justify why he should continue breathing. But if he wants me to justify my god-given right to continued existence, then maybe he should justify his first. I’d love to hear why he thinks he’s so valuable that the world just couldn’t get along without him.

  • Michael Rice

Can’t buy all that Sudafed…Ok. As asked, point? Are you saying that law is screwed up? Ok…next…
Seriously, I can buy a car I can ram someone with too. I can buy gasoline in unlimited supply and matches too. But no sudafed, so let’s ban matches..

I guess I just missed the Amendment that protected the right to keep and bear decongestants.

Piers Morgan is a walking, talking history lesson of why the colonists left England. He is so invested in the dictatorial nature of the monarchy that he, and most other British subjects, can’t fathom the nature of the freedoms we as Americans enjoy (and most times take for granted).

In Piers Morgan’s conceptual framework, “freedom” is simply the priviledges you have been given by the monarchy. And what the monarchy giveth, the monarchy can taketh away. So in his diminished understanding, there is nothing wrong with doing away with the 2nd amendment and collecting all the guns. That’s what the crown would do.

He is truly the product of a retarded governmental and societal system.

  • bonnieblue2A

Why does Piers Morgan sill have his work visa? Shouldn’t using his workplace (CNN) to threaten the life of a recent guest (Alex Jones) and that of his children be grounds for revocation?

    Decongestants?…. Really?!!

    Such a weak, lame analogy.

Which might explain crates of Sudafed and other medications going missing from inventories of warehouses long before they are supposed to be loaded onto trucks. To deliver to pharmacies and grocery chains.

The above would be defined as a a crime, Piers.

And you and your left wing, snot nosed minions want to regulate behavior of those to whom laws and regulations mean nothing!

  • ClarkFL

That little worm Morgan. “Your little book”? He’s such a pathetic left-wing POS. We’re a nation built on the ideals of freedom. Your nation opposed us on this. Your nation wanted to tax us and then not give us a say on how those taxes would be used. You murdered people to try and put us back in line with your medieval way of thinking. England levied tyranny on us and we decided to put our foot firmly against your backsides and tell you to go back across the pond.

  • NachoCheese (D)

I loved the point regarding the Tuscon shooter. Ben pointed out that Loughner had 2 handguns on him and Musket simply dismissed it with “he used an ‘assault’ rifle”, to which Ben asked, so if he didn’t have the rifle he wouldn’t have used the handguns?

Needless to say, Musket quickly changed the subject.

On the sudafed comment: So, the govt made it a law that one can’t purchase too much sudafed as some people were using an extract from it to make meth-ampetamines. Dear Piers, has the production of meth gone down? Is there less of a meth problem today than when the law was initiated? I wondr if the amount of meth seized in 2010, 2011, and 2012 excedds the avg of meth seized in the previous 10 yr period 2000-2009? Just a hint Piers: it does. Guess the people needing sudafed for sinuses are SOL. The meth makers/takers? doing just fine.

Gun Homicides Down Almost 14% Since Expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban – Don’t believe the lies! [Graph]
    http://www.rightwingnews.com/guns/gun-homicides-down-almost-14-since-expiration-of-the-assault-weapons-ban-dont-believe-the-lies-graph/

Overall gun homicides down almost 14% since expiration of the assault weapons ban. Either Senator Feinstein is blatantly lying on her site, or she is just old and senile. The cherry picking of data has to stop. The study she cites for a decrease in gun crimes during the ban, later found the ban could not be presented as a reason for the drop. Why? The homicide rate has dropped severely after the ban.

We are sick and tired of the blatant lies. All this proves they just want us disarmed, it has nothing to do with our safety. It has everything to do with theirs.

I feel a quote coming on regarding Mr. Piers Morgan:

“Some people are born to ridicule. Others have it thrust upon them.”

Piers (What kind of parent names their kid “Piers”?) manages to cover the spectrum with ignorant aplomb and gusto. While being a subservient, moronic subject and serf of the Queen.

Piers Morgan is an absolute idiot, The so called “assault weapon” has the same operating system as a standard semi-automatic hunting rifle, it just has a black stock and looks different than a normal wood stock. One trigger pull fires only one bullet. Background checks are common and 99% of the people that purchase guns legally have no issue with providing the required documentation. Guns that are obtained illegally will always be a problem as far as ownership but I don’t recall any of my guns taking themselves out to kill anybody or anything at anytime. It is the person, usually a criminal or mentally disturbed person, that commits these violent acts. So making that statement is indicative of his support for creating fear in the non-gun people that know nothing about any of these rifles. He isn’t an American citizen as far as I know and has little understanding of the Constitution and probably doesn’t remember the history associated with why people fled to America in search of freedom. It was the tyrannical government in Great Britain coupled with their disregard for basic human rights. I mean really? He wants to inject himself into our political affairs and re-introduce the same philosophy that drove the people in Europe to seek freedom here in America. I think he needs to go live anywhere but here, if he can’t support the Constitution he doesn’t belong here in the first place….and he can take Obama/Biden with him!

GRAB YOUR FLAG: GUN APPRECIATION DAY COMING
Goal: Loud, clear message to Obama, Congress – Back off
    Published: 1 hour ago
(San Francisco Chronicle) Mark your calendar. On Jan. 19, two days before President Obama is inaugurated and a day before Sen. Dianne Feinstein is expected to introduce an assault weapons ban, a Gun Appreciation Day has been called in the U.S.

Organizers are asking folks to go into their local gun shop and wave a flag or a “Hands Off Our Guns” sign or just brandish a copy of the Constitution. With 300 million guns in the U.S., there should be more than enough people ready to participate.

The goal is send a loud, clear message to Obama and the Congress: Back off. Their role model are the pro-Chick-Fil-A protests of last year.

  • salvagesalvage

Piers is awful and stupid for thinking that less guns would mean less gun violence just because in places with less guns there’s less gun violence.

  • wildman

hey puss morgan please dont get the wrong impression most people dont dislike you because of your anti gunner views WE JUST DONT LIKE YER LIMEY ASS PERIOD because you are a smug arrogant prick that left his own much touted homeland to come to a free AMERICA that apparently you or obamama knows nothing about,so we ask as a majority of a nation thats despises the air you breath take semen cowdung and get the hell out of our country. You talk shit about how great your slimey homeland is then dont let the door hit you in the ass as you leave. ——————————————————————————————- Yes facebook I have read your narrow minded rules. But I believe you might need to garner a better grasp of the FREEDOM OF SPEECH. That kind sirs is a FREEDOM many AMERICANS have fought and died to protect. And you and obamam which you so strongly supported are doing your best to destroy that among many other rights. SO if you want to ban me again for speaking out on issues that you dont support so be it,it just shows what facebook is really about

I cannot believe we watched the same show. I believe Piers whupped Shapiro. The ones who turned off the show was usually when Piers made his valid logical points. Shapiro was just a mouth of staying on story of NRA. At one stage when Piers made his point he gulped.

  • texaswc

Now that I have seen the full interview, I am even more adamant that Piers is an idiot…gotta keep the language clean…but the fact is, he kept cutting off Shapiro at just the right points in the hopes that what people would hear would be only the incomplete statements and then follow Piers on this matter…Piers does not know the Constitution very well, nor does he know the 2nd Amendment very well, otherwise he would understand the history and the rights and duties of the American people to be armed…Shapiro is right, and offers a perfectly acceptable common sense approach on this matter…When we give up the right to have a gun, in 50 years or 100 years, the government WILL turn on it’s people…if we set precedent now with losing much of our rights, it will be taken advantage of tomorrow….Piers didn’t want to hear the truth, he only wants to spout off his own tyrannical ideals…..he needs to leave the USA, as far as I am concerned, he is not welcome here any longer…he needs to go home and answer to the laws of his own country about his involvement with the serious media scandal that happened over there….but he is too scared to do so since he knows he will go to jail and lose every bit of credibility he has in the UK, even though he has very little left…

  • texaswc

At a quick glance, I haven’t seen any negative about Shapiro…But, I still figure many here would like a little history about how smart he really is…

He has also authored 4 books, one, aside from the one in this interview, being “Brainwashed: How Universities Indoctrinate America’s Youth” (2004)…

Shapiro attended Yeshiva University High Schools of Los Angeles.[2] He then enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), majoring in political science, and graduating ‘summa cum laude’ in 2004.[3] At UCLA, Shapiro lived off-campus.[4] He also wrote a column for the Daily Bruin student newspaper at UCLA from 2000 to 2002. The Daily Bruin suspended Shapiro after he complained on radio talk shows that the newspaper refused to print his column accusing Muslim student groups of supporting terrorism.[2] Shapiro was hired at age 17 to become the youngest nationally syndicated columnist in the country by Creators Syndicate.[citation needed] He received his Juris Doctor (J.D.), ‘cum laude’, from Harvard Law School in 2007.[3] He briefly practiced law at the Los Angeles office of Goodwin Procter LLP, and was a Vice President at Talk Radio Network. He now does independent legal consulting for major media clients.[3]
