ISIS unveils new coordinated hashtag campaign around captive journalist Steven Sotloff

ISIS militants who recently beheaded journalist James Foley are using another captive journalist, Steven Sotloff, as part of a social media campaign to encourage President Barack Obama and the United States to back off.

ISIS supporters have been attaching the hashtag #StevensHeadInObamasHands to tweets as part of a coordinated PR campaign. As Vocativ reports:

As part of the new campaign that went live on Sunday morning, ISIS has called on its supporters on Twitter and Facebook to help create public pressure on the U.S. president and terrorize the American public so that its demands are met. In a forum post, the group offered 13 different phrases to be published and tweeted, all of them using the #StevensHeadInObamasHands hashtag, along with a variety of images relating to the threat.
