Kenneth Cole: Stop gun manufacturers who are making a 'killing'

That tweet about guns from designer Kenneth Cole seemed to come out of nowhere, but he was actually responding during a #fashiontalk event to a fan who wanted to know more about Cole’s approach to socially conscious advertising. How, for example, would he approach the message of gun control?

There you go, free of charge: Kenneth Cole’s tagline is to “Stop gun manufacturers who are making a ‘killing.'” Note the assumption that the person manufacturing the gun is the one who has to be stopped. And it’s already started; look at the workers from, say, Magpul and HiViz, who found their companies packing up and moving to more business-friendly pastures.

You can’t say that Cole and his team haven’t come up with some catchy marketing slogans recently. As America recently struggled with how to respond to the gassing of Syrian civilians with chemical weapons, Cole wanted to make sure that, along with the option of boots on the ground, we didn’t “forget about sandals, pumps and loafers.”

Socially conscious, you know.

Talking head weighs in. Has no clue what he’s talking about.

    Film at 11.

    • Lotte Lenya

Card carrying example of “Useful Idiot”.

  • ICOYAR

I am 95% certain that he believes that the guy using the guns to kill are “victims”, and would rather see them go free rather than arm the innocent populace for self defense.

In other news, that libturd just admitted he is unarmed, and therefore an open target to thugs.

  • no good deed

Well, Cole just “killed” a customer.

  • waterytart

Thank you Mr Cole, from a working stiff who’d rather die than wear your clothes.

  • mndasher

Stop fashionable clothing manufacturers who are making a killing on over priced merchandise.

  • Texan357

    Parrot says what?

    • The Penguin “Jackalope Hunter”

Parrot: Whatever Obama wants me to say.

    • TocksNedlog

      Polly wanna nanny-state!

  • Jack Deth

    Pssssst… Cole:

If you could manage to weave Kevlar and Trauma Plates into attractive women’s hand bags and teenage hoodies.

You could make a “killing” too.

Especially in Chicago, East L.A., Baltimore and Washington, DC.

    • Unicorns and Rainbows

Places which, by the way, have some of the strictest gun control in the nation.

    • trixiewoobeans

And how about “Democrat’s RapeWear,” that can be peed in, vomited on and shat in, with quick, easy clean-up afterward?

    • Ken Alan Draper

not to mention a line of conceal carry fashions. fool is missing out on a lucrative niche market.

  • WhoDat

It’s a good time to be a gun manufacturer.

    • MrApple

      Better if you produce ammo.

      • Scorpion

If Joycelyn Elders had her way, we would have safer bullets.

    • Ronald Green

Better time to be looking into how to get our mentally disturbed, registered Democrat, mass shooters into an institution before those mentally disturbed, registered Democrat, mass shooters shoot another place up.

    • NRPax

Which is amazing since the Democrats have been doing their best at getting rid of manufacturing jobs in this country.

    • Stephen L. Hall

Nothing pushes gun sales like constant threats to ban guns. You sure those gun control nuts aren’t heavily invested in gun manufacturing companies?

    • gtdav

It’s never a bad time to be a Gun Manufacturer….Go for it!, Guys (and Girls!)

    • TocksNedlog

Unless you’re a gun manufacturer in a blue state.

      • Clete Torres ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Unless you’re a blue state that has pissed off your resident firearms maker. Because they’ll actively look for a new red-state home.

    • MarcusFenix

Unless you have more than 50 employees and have to deal with the Obamacare regulations. In that respect, it’s not so good.

Otherwise…yup. It’s good to be a manufacturer who produces items that law abiding citizens wish to purchase. Welcome to how a free market works.

  • BoscoBolt

Most guns sold in the United States are made in the United States by skilled American workers. Most Kenneth Cole products are made by unskilled laborers in China. Americans would be wise to support American gun manufacturers, and American workers rather than Chinese sweat-shop clothing peddlers like Cole.

  • viking628

Cole is the type of Liberal who wants gun control and gun registries and ideally a database of what gun owners own and where exactly they live. However, when the demand for similar databases for those individuals using psychotropic medications, the physicians and psychologists who prescribe them, all of a sudden it is “stigmatizing” those individuals.
So with empty databases, how does one perform a valid “background check”, Kenny?

  • Clayton Grant

Don’t ya just hate it when somebody has to put quotation marks around their weak “pun” so that the low info people get it? I know I do.

  • cmerlo1

He has a right to voice his opinion, just as I have the right to never buy his clothes because of it.

  • peteee363

which gun mfg’s? the ones gangbangers use, or the ones people use to defend themselves from gangbangers?

  • EDUCATEDPATRIOT

    morally bankrupt…

  • John Boggs

Hey…he’s a true believer. I wonder how Versace would have fared had he been armed that day? The obvious, lame answer would be “if that madman couldn’t get a gun…” Bla Bla Bla. The issue is so easy to understand. Criminalize gun ownership and all that you are doing is stopping law abiding people from owning them. A nut bent on destruction will find a way to be armed, but in the meantime the rest of us are left to a cell phone and 911. This is reality, not utopia.

  • Adam Steiger

Like I always say, I’m “all in” for gun control once criminals and lawbreakers start complying with it.

Until then, I’ll deal with reality.

But sometimes it is so hard.

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Well, of course, you don’t think he’s designing his well-overpriced schmattas and shoes for those people in the backwaters who might actually own guns, do you? Oh perish forbid such people would ever want to wear something of his– he probably doesn’t even have anything in a size normal people wear, anyway.

  • Mary

How about this: Stop fashion moguls from making a killing (Mr. Kenneth Cole) cause everything you produce is made in China and if you produced your wares in America, you’d actually have to pay minimum wage and pay for their health insurance as well.

  • Earl Brooks

LOL at Kenneth Cole whose clothing is made in China by slave labor, then shipped back to the US for a 400% markup.

  • MJ Pauls

So according to his logic, he’s to blame every time someone decides to pair orange plaid with chartreuse stripes and pink polka dots.

  • OrganicGirl

Wow, money hog…you’re making a killing yourself with those overpriced duds!

  • Bill Board

Stop Kenneth Cole from opening his mouth and making an ass of himself.

    • TocksNedlog

Like he has to bother opening his mouth.

  • Clete Torres ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

You want to make a fashion statement, Kenny boy?

Design a men’s shirt that can cleanly conceal a carry weapon. Other than that, I have no use for you.

  • TDS

Is he going to make the same stand against car and alcohol manufacturers, whose product both kill more people than guns do each year?
Oh, wait, he LIKES having a car and the occasional snifter of cognac…

  • Yipicya

Isn’t this raving queen’s stuff made in Thai and Malaysian sweatshops. Who’s really making a killing here?

  • Al’s Grandpa ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Never heard of this guy. Does he design menswear? If so, I need to find out if I need to get rid of anything in my wardrobe.

    • Jay Stevens

      Yes, he does.

  • Jeremy

Yet another member of the Gun Control brigade and of course stupid as well.

  • Clarence Worley

So gun manufacturers produce nut job psychos? Who knew? Here all I thought they did was make guns. You learn something new every day.

  • Ken Alan Draper

So, does this mean if it’s found that his product line is found to be made in third world sweatshops Mr. Cole should be held responsible for it? even if he had no idea it was going on?

  • sacha

Kenneth Cole needs a boot up the arse!

  • lainer51

Stop fugly shoe manufacturers who are making a “killing.” #fashiontalk

  • Medicinewoman2

Someone hand the idiot a bolt of material and tell him to stfu and stick to what he supposedly knows something about.

  • Magnifico

I’ll buy from a liberal if they keep their mouths shut. I’m done with this guy’s stuff.

  • AZGunslinger

You can stop gun manufacturers right after you stop gays from spreading AIDS……deal?

    • Kabong30

Poor form. Please don’t mix you’re need to bash with my 2nd amendment.

      • AZGunslinger

Not bashing… just saying if he wants to stop unnecessary killing he needs to start in his on backyard.

        • Kabong30

Weak. You’re intertwining two separate issues. AIDS stopped being a “gay” disease decades ago and I know just as many promiscuous straights. You wanna try that again?

          • AZGunslinger

AIDS stopped being a gay disease decades ago?!?! Really? Next you’re going to tell us that Matthew Sheppard really was killed by homophobic cowboys rather than a drugged out queer.

Nevertheless, it’s called a simile. You may want to look it up, Skippy. Cole is blaming gun manufacturers for something they have absolutely no responsibility for just like Cole has no responsibility for the deaths caused by gays running around spreading AIDS by screwing everything that goes bump in the bathhouse.

          • Kabong30

Now I’m skippy? Ok, you can be Tiger, how’s that? The fact that you need to use the term “queer”, and insist that AIDS is a gay disease says a lot about you and where your heart is. You think it’s gays that are raping African women en masse in villages in that part of the world? Open your eyes and use your brain.

You can say simile all day long, the illustration doesn’t work because it’s not just gays that spread AIDS. Enjoy being part of the problem there, Champ.

          • AZGunslinger

In America, AIDS is a gay disease. I can tell you are as immune to common sense as you are geographically challenged.

PS: didn’t realize they had bathhouses in Africa

          • Kabong30

I can’t believe it took you all week to double down on your hateful ignorance. There are none so blind, folks.

  • Scorpion

We can’t let the gun makers horn in on the Fast & Furious action.

  • Paul

Total murders by hands and feet in 2011 exceed the total number of murders by shotgun and rifle.

Does that mean we need to regulate the shoes you make you moron?

  • Kabong30

    Another label to avoid.

  • Zach Smith

    Two words: Kevlar dresses.

  • Jay Stevens

    Marissa Perr tweets:
“I would love to learn more about your campaign process and how you combine socially conscious advertising with fashion.”

    Rhinestone holsters? Naah. Probably not.

  • Truth_Wrangler_NC

Talk about making a killing. How about $65 for a piece of sh!t Tshirt!

  • Truth_Wrangler_NC

“Mr. Sweat Shop” has a problem with a company making a product that is protected by law and is not required by law to purchase. Unlike this BS healthcare plan that we’re getting ready to get forced on us.

  • pabandit

Gun manufacturers are probably the only people who get sued for making a product that actually works as advertised!
