Obama on Syria: ‘I’m not drawing an analogy to WW II’; Immediately draws analogy to WW II [video]

Yes, that happened. Because of course it did.

The mouth-flapper in chief discussed Syria a G20 presser today and promised he wasn’t about to draw an analogy to World War II.

Like Obama, the analogy isn’t working.

Well, obviously y’all just weren’t letting him be clear.

Editor’s note: This post has been updated with video.

Who the hell is writing this guy’s material now? Or are the TelePrompTers rebelling against Imperial rule?

    • jimdep

      Love it.

    • Bill Gryan

Maybe the TelePrompTers found out that they couldn’t get an Obamacare exemption.

    • brewerandpatriot

He’s easily manipulated by the teleprompter, just like Ron Burgundy. “I’m Barry Soetoro, go F yourself Syria.”

  • Richard J Sunkle

Well I guess we can be glad he didn’t compare it to WWII by talking about the German bombing of Pearl Harbor.

    • OLLPOH ~ America

Funny, yet we aren’t able to laugh any longer…this is a really sick puppy and everyone knows it except him.

      • Chevypowered

That is what I find disturbing. Even his followers know Obama is a complete fool, yet they will still lay down and take one for Team “O”

        • OLLPOH ~ America

Just reeks of pathetically needing to arrest and send him to some institution; we just have these gut feelings that it is and will get worse from here… He’s just a scholar in Communist Saul Alinski working so hard on his Legend.

      • DutyFirst

A really ‘stupid’ puppy. When you are dead, you don’t know you are dead and it is only difficult for the others. It is the same with stupid.

      • in_awe

He missed his opportunity to sway Parliament when he failed to send copies of his speeches to MPs a couple weeks ago. They would have been so mesmerized a “Yes” vote would have been assured.

      • Le Chiffre

The list of unforgivables is ever growing!

  • irishgirl91

The One’s intelligence extends only to being able to parrot what he has been told by people he agrees with. To actually “think” involves more than rote memorization. If he thought even for one second he might have put together the fact we don’t know who the rebels are, therefore how can we believe they are worthy of our blood and treasure. I am fairly sure WWII Americans knew who was running Britain and who would be in charge when we left.

    • in_awe

No – you misunderstood him. He said that these military actions are rejected by Americans because they seem “distant” and “remote”. Once again denigrating any one who opposes him as being blathering backwoods idiots. Next up will be calling us RACIST blathering backwoods idiots.

      • irishgirl91

Actually, remembering my studies that Roosevelt and his admin. didn’t want to interfere in what was viewed as a European problem. We could argue whether they really knew what was happening in the camps, but we didn’t jump into a conflict where we didn’t even know the players. Our allies were old and established, their populations supported the governments that were asking for our help. So the war was different, the peoples reaction was different and while I understand he was speaking of the people, I stand by what I wrote, he parrots, he doesn’t seem to think. I believe he didn’t anticipate the blow back to the bombing and is grasping at straws.

        • OLLPOH ~ America

‘grasping’ for his Legend in his own mind.

  • Magnifico

If helping our closest ally was wildly unpopular, imagine the sentiment in regard to helping our enemy.

    • tops116

Obama’s case for war was already pretty pathetic, but now it’s just getting ridiculous:

“Britain was under attack over 70 years ago, so that’s why we have to help al Qaeda now!”

      • bungopony

Every single day he plumbs new depths.I said this yesterday, and I’ll say it tomorrow, and the day after…

  • E Quilibrate

Can’t we just reel in this blundering, blathering fool. He is a true testimonial
to the profound ignorance of our voting public. If we could just keep him from
speaking for the next 3 1/4 years, some of the memories of his foolish ramblings
might dim just a little so we might regain a modicum of what small amount of
credibility we may have once enjoyed.

    • in_awe

I recommend that to help restore some semblance of national self-awareness and perspective a new cable channel should be created that runs “Wag the Dog” and “Being There” (with Peter Sellers as Chance) on a continuous loop.

While I would like to agree, (I really enjoyed, repeatedly, both of your mentions) I am so sad that the world must see us as the buffoons we appear to be. All because of the jackassery of one person, well maybe two, you can’t leave out Lurch..

        • OLLPOH ~ America

        • Irishwren

The world had better not make the mistake of equating America with Obama. He is a dithering idiot with a strong anti-American bent but America is going to survive him.

  • walterc

The done difference (only one?) between us helping the Brits in WWII and us helping the Syrian (al qaeda) rebels, is that the Brits weren’t holding Death To America rallies and torturing and murdering German soldiers on camera. Or bombing their own cities and blaming the Germans.

  • caper29

Skippy does understand that the Battle of Britain was over by the time the USA entered the war after it was BOMBED by the Japanese doesn’t he? “I don’t want to draw an analogy to WW2 but I want to commit an act of war on Syria like the Japanese committed on the US..”

    • in_awe

No, no, no! It is not an act of war if warships stand offshore and launch aerial raids on your nation creating massive destruction and death. Who ever gave you that idea?

It is just a “red line reminder and object lesson”.

The Nobel Peace Prize Winner (Copyright 2009) by definition does not start wars – he ends wars through his smart diplomacy. Remember when he boasted that unlike evil Bush, he would sit down without preconditions to talk with any then demonized leader? Let’s count ’em: Bush wars = 2, Obama wars = 1 and 1 pending

      • in_awe

Good lord! He parroted this same line of crap today. He just said he was elected to end wars not start them!

Life without a teleprompter is hard.

As a deaf person, I can’t refer to his “amazing” speaking ability, but if people would read his speeches or watch his speeches without the volume, it would be easier to tell how much BS he spouts. Are people really that distracted by his “speaking skills” that they cannot notice how much nonsense he says? Of course, low info voters wouldn’t care, anyway.

    • in_awe

Those of us who CAN hear him are no more persuaded by his speaking skills than you are.

      • therealguyfaux

        While we’re on this subject;

In the late 30’s, the National Socialist regime had a Foreign Press Liaison by the name of Ernst Hanfstangl, a Harvard-educated suave type who often spoke on background to the British and American Press. One night, as the schnapps were being thrown back perhaps a bit much, EH asks reporters how Der Fuehrer is generally viewed in their lands.

An American reporter tells him: “To those who don’t understand a word he’s saying, he comes off as a fire-breathing dragon.”

EH replied: “To those who understand EVERY word he’s saying, he still comes off as a fire-breathing dragon!”

  • tops116

So, a country engaged in a civil war is comparable to dictator’s quest to conquer an entire continent (and then some) and attack our closest ally? Uh, no. Would one of Obama’s advisers mind buying him a history book? Y’know, after they’re done yelling at him, “Will you stop with the off-the-cuff remarks already?!”

Still, it is nice to see Obama acknowledge the close friendship we’ve had with Britain. Too bad that attitude was nowhere to be found for the last five years.

    • in_awe

It’s not a valid analogy because al Qaeda is not our friend. It is a valid analogy because al Qaeda is 0’Bama’s closest ally along with the MB axis.
